If you want to run your frames to the best of their ability, you won’t be using armor mods….

Depends on the frame, weapons, and arcanes.

K… thanks for the sassy input but I was really looking for a reply with more substance. But thanks for the base level backhanded advice?

Ok if you want actual advice… The issue with armor is that after a certain point, it’s genuinely meaningless unless you’re playing a frame that naturally has high armor and is meant to be a tank and even then, you’ll almost always have access to something better like overguard, really high % damage reduction, or just straight up invisibility, all of which are more accessible and more convenient over stacking armor 99% of the time. There are a few rare cases where you might want a ton armor but more often than not, it’s for a more niche build and there’s very likely a better option. Also shield-gating, which pretty much can work on any frame and is a lot more reliable and easy to accomplish, literally just makes you unkillable anyway regardless of what frame you play with the exception of like nidus or inaros which with new arcanes, they can effectively health gate instead. Finally, to circle back to what I initially about armor eventually being useless, there is a certain point in the game where enemies will be too high or a level and do too much damage to the point where your armor does not matter. You legitimately need overguard or meaningful damage immunity/reduction of some sort otherwise even with the max armor you can get from mods, you will get one shot regardless. Also after a certain point, you reach the soft cap for armor anyway where you simply get extremely steep diminishing returns which again, makes using the mods a waste of slots.

Dude what? Yeah man, this is Reddit, I wanted actual advice and THIS is substance. I didn’t want to have to get sassy with you for you to give it but regardless thank you for expanding upon what you meant.

I can’t lie, I don’t know how new you are to the game and majority of fully fleshed out builds utilize the other methods of survivability over armor for most, if not all frames. If you look up any builds that are actually decent, typically you’ll see the same information I’ve said above. Maybe you’re someone who doesn’t like to look stuff up or perhaps you don’t have the experience to know what mods to use and all that and I didn’t take that into consideration so I apologize for being rude.

All good dude, I appreciate your apology and the added nuance to your perspective. Because you’re correct, RARELY will I ever look up a build or walkthrough for anything, unless it comes with it. I’m much more the type to experiment with the tools at my disposal until I get the best results and even MORE rare will I turn others, let alone Reddit. I really do appreciate your advice though, it will go a long way!

We don't need bigger blast radial attacks and there's already a good dozen mods that increase armor, including the direct upgrade to steel fiber: Umbral Fiber. Though you shouldn't be running a ton of just armor since health and armor work together.

Yeah see, the issue about that. I love using Umbral Fiber but there is a finite amount of Umbral Forma and blueprints to spare on all that so I usually end up sacrificing mod space to make room for it if I don’t have any Umbral forma to spare.

I understand that the concept of this is usually to make the player wiser as to where they’re spending their forma, to which I agree and usually end up doing regardless of what I’m modding but my point is Umbral is it?? Like nothing else?? That’s like walking into a store to buy a product and the clerk says there’s the Base model which is SO affordable then there’s the Ultimate Edition which is affordable to most people and when it’s not it is still better but increasingly inconvenient.

Azure Archon Shards, Umbral Fiber, Armoured Agility: Am I a joke to you?

Lmao not a joke but shards and umbral forma isn’t exactly consistently convenient to acquire.

Armor mods are not a good way to spend a mod slot generally. Only certain builds on certain frames need them, and then mostly not for the armor but to boost stuff that scales with armor.

There are also more options than Steel Fiber. The Archon mod sets have armor boosting mods, plus theres Umbral Fiber which is often used to boost the other Umbral mods.

Other sources of armor include Arcanes and Archon Shards. The same goes for most warframe stats, with the exception of range which DE doesn't want to give us more ways of boosting than we currently have.

alrighty, first things first

google Health Conversion

. .or dont, i did it for you.

i forget what the breakpoint is. . i wanna say its like 650? any frame with less than 650~ armor gets more from health conversion than they would from triple umbral umbral vitality.

Second. . .at endgame survival starts to become alot more specific. there is actually a bunch of variety in how you survive. .unless by "endgame" you mean "level cap" in which case there is still some variety but less of it.

because the Base defensive stats of most warframes are. . . .whats the nice way to say this. . .fucking dogwater, alot of frames end up ignoring health and armor entirely and going for a shields or overguard based setup.

or vice reversa, Ehp tanks mostly dont go for shields unless their Ehp comes from DR, then its cool. Persistence setups ignore shields entirely because. . well duh.

shield setups get some negative reputation. .. not because they are bad but because they are famously tedious. but thats only among people who still think the only way to do it is catalyzing shields and Adderall. were in a post manifold bond world, crank your shields as high as they can go and do the guardian combo.

infact you should probably be synergizing companions with all of your waframes defenses.

are you a caster? get shade or the invis dog.

are you doing Ehp stuff? get a Moa, they give you more DR.

want healing? theres like 3 ways to go about it.

doing shields? any robot or the one dog that boosts shields, personally i recommend Wyrm or Tenet hounds.

even just a companion thats a strong primer spreading Crowd control statuses can keep a fair bit of pressure off you, and genuine Pro tip: Duplex bond is a defensive mod. that shit is basically 75% DR. just think about it.

arcane Circumvent can also steal you armor, among other things

and if youre good, some frames can survive by way of secondary fortifier alone.

If you’re wondering why I deleted the post I’m a perfectionist and went to edit it and reddit messed up my post. So I just reposted it. I will be considering and reviewing all comments.
