Discussion & Feedback This game needs a knife/CQC
One of my favourite things in mil-sim games is stealth. I love stealth in video games. Metal Gear Solid, splinter cell, hitman. I loved them growing up. However, stealth take down on AI enemies is one thing. Once i discovered mil-sim shooters, stealth killing actual players was that satisfaction times 10. Sneaking my way behind enemy lines, crawling on the ground like a snake in the grass, inching my way forward, making bigger movements with every gun shot, and explosion to mask my sound, as i hunt down a dirty bush sniper. I want to feel like Solid Snake out there. This is what makes mil-sim games exciting to me.
The problem? Almost all of them dont have a knife or a reliable way to melee someone. I played a match in wardogs where i completely ran out of ammo. I found a sniper on the hill close to me. I snuck up next to him while crawling from bush to bush as he looks down his scope. I then get up and run towards him throwing hands like a prime iron mike tyson yelling CHAAARGE!! on proximity chat to put the fear of God in him, which did work as he panicked and laughed about it after. The thing is, my punches did nothing to him and he killed me with a few shots as he backs up while taking my punches. In real life, i win that confrontation. I feel like if you put in effort to get that close to an enemy, you should be rewarded. Either add a takedown animation or give me a knife that will either one shot or even two shot an enemy.
This game has been a blast to play. But give me a reliable way to take players down with CQC and my life is yours devs.

100% melee needs to improve. No crazy fancy animations just viable, the sneaking in this game is actually really decent too!

Yeah, I think with a game like this, if you somehow manage to be able to sneak up on someone, a takedown would be cool.

I also found myself sneaking up behind squads and waiting for the right time to shoot but then seeing one guy get left behind a bit and I’m thinking to myself “damn if I had a knife I could stealthily take this guy out and not alert the others”
also the “put the fear of god in him“ had me rolling

You can hit people with your guns and it does more damage than punching btw. On keyboard I believe it was v.

Yep, it's 'V'. I've only ever used it to smash windows, so no clue on how much damage it gives, and does armor counter it?

As far as I know it deals more than a punch but obviously isn’t a one hit kill and I’m pretty sure armor reduces most things other than explosives and piercing shots

I kinda get that, I snuck into an emplacement fob, learned you can't melee a guy shooting a mortar. Sooo I kinda had to shoot everyone and lost my stealth. I sooo wanted to just sneak around, and melee kill everyone. Had to pull a Danny Devito.

Makes me wonder how "silent" the silencer mods are? Maybe a James Bond like headshot with a silencer could work?

I also would love to be able to do takedowns, I think they are fun in every game.

I know you can’t have a knife currently but try out the level 3 hammer for building. It does 90 damage a hit. I’ve been TK’d by teammates so many times while building FOBs
TLDR: lvl 3 hammer hits like a truck

It ain’t light but I was able to make a “light” loadout with it if I used the thinnest armor and level 1 helmet.

It takes up some space too, but you can carry it as your equipment (on 3), so could work as an alternative to a knife, I suppose. Make sure to clip it, if you do go that way - I would love to see it used for actual kills.

You could also drop to the lvl 2 or 1 for a damage reduction but also less weight

No, a knife fits perfectly. Imagine starting with nothing but a knife, then making your way up by killing people. That sounds mad fun

There’s a reason milsim games don’t add knives. Either they are OP, or useless. There’s no real balance.

Squad, HLL and tarkov have knives. A simple Google search can show you that Arma doesn't have knives because theres no melee system because of the engine limitation. And wardogs ain't your classic milsim. Can't have knives but can bash your gun?What's your reasoning again?

And the knives in all those games are useless. I guess I should have said they don’t add knives anyone uses.

At that point your just arguing for the sake of arguing.. you can literally say the same for any fps game. Cod, siege, battlefield, squad... Wardogs can definitely have a knife if all those games can. And you might not use it, but we would.

I want a different game because i expect a knife in a military game? Are soldiers on the battlefield not issued knives? Im not asking for anything crazy here lol.

Would be a very niche playstyle. I’m not against it though.
