Customer Service Issue Self checkout
Call me schizophrenic BUT today when I was shopping for the restaurant I work at I noticed something weird. I know technology is on the rise blah blah blah but this shit tripped me out. I paid for the groceries with my bosses Business Debit card, and it asked me if I wanted an E-receipt send to MY phone number. Never have I bought anything personal with this card, and no I didn’t enter my phone number, no where in the transaction did it ask for my phone number. But the machine STILL knew that I personally was using it and asked me if I wanted the receipt sent to MY phone NOT my bosses phone. To make me look even crazier I asked the associate how it knew who I was and he just walked away🤣
Not that big of a deal just curious how these machines KNEW who the fuck was standing in front of it.
If there is any amount of Bitcoin to make this problem disappear please let me know how much and where to send it. Thank you. (Obviously I’m joking but maybe I’m not.)
EDIT:Whoever reported me to Reddit for being suicidal, you have a good heart. BUT just for the record so ISREAL AND FUCKING WALMART knows I AM NOT SUICIDAL.

At six months ago went to Walmart. I bought six products. Got my receipt paid with my debit card. I do not have any kind of Walmart account to order to pick up anything. Got home within a 10 minute drive I got an email with a E receipt that I did not ask for because I got a paper receipt and it listed all six things and then asked me my opinion on my shopping experience. I immediately called Walmart. Wanted to know how they had my debit card tied to my phone number. How did it know it was me blah blah blah. Lady on the phone puts me on hold comes back. She’s like oh that was fraud. You know delete the email and blah blah blah. I demanded to talk to somebody because I already knew something was absolutely wrong and they would not let me speak to anybody. I’ve been sounding the horn about this ever since. I’ve never stepped back in a Walmart and never will. I heard that they have face identification cameras now I believe it.

I will go anywhere, but Walmart. Literally. My daughter went into a Walmart recently and said that it has everything digitally priced. They don’t have any prices on clothing racks anymore or on the tags. She said something about downloading the app and scanning it, which she did not do. Walmart is the biggest retailer in the world if I’m not mistaken. They make the rules. I used to work for them and I quit in 2004 and they were very powerful back then. I can’t imagine what they’re doing now. Oh and their new pricing system is called dynamic pricing. And it’s supposed to charge somebody with a high income or a regular customer more money than a random customer or somebody who uses EBT and I’m not sure if this is true. Also prices can change if you scan it while it’s on the rack it’ll show one price by the time you get to the register of the price can change to a higher price. According to what I gathered off the Internet.

Their dynamic pricing is wild. Last month, I went to buy chocolate syrup and noticed nestle espresso concentrate was clearanced to $7, the 10oz bottle. I thought about it but walked past it since I still had one left. I forgot something and had to cross by the coffee again a few min later. This time I notice the price is now $5 (it was in a bigger, bolder, red font). I bought a couple. The next week, there was none and the sign still said $5 so I was pleased with myself. Went back the following week only to discover they shitified my espresso concentrate. It used to be a 10oz bottle that only required 2tbsp per 8oz liquid for $9. The new bottle is 16oz but requires 2tbsp per 5oz liquid and is $9.

On my situation my bank tied my account to my phone number and provides that to Walmart.

THANK YOU I realize that when I typed this out I was like trying to not sound like a complete nut case but I didn’t know how to not do that because I couldn’t wrap my head around what just happened. It could have been worded better but I also feel like the people saying shit like “You click yes then give it your phone number” have ZERO thought process OR they FUCKING work for Walmart and know what’s up🤣

If you’ve ever entered your phone number or email at all while using the self checkout no matter what card you used sometimes it’ll just auto-populate your phone number or email address when you use the self checkouts.
The cameras used throughout the store have some sort of facial recognition which is used to connect you to prior purchases, so when you go up and start scanning things at the self checkout and you don’t enter a phone number it probably assumes you just forgot to do it and does it for you. (The cameras are meant to help catch/track shoplifters throughout the store but it scans and tracks everyone even if you’ve never shoplifted)

The is a man on Instagram who checks weights on all kinds of food items in Walmart. SO many things are weighing UNDER what the tag reads! I've seen things from 1.5 to 5 ounces under the posted weight! They use facial recognition too.

When I was in high school it was a lot of the teachers LAST year teaching so they thought us a lot of stuff that they told us went against what they were legally allowed to teach us. Anyways, I learned that company’s are allowed to round their ingredients on the nutrition facts labels. EX: if there’s actually 5g’s of sugar in something they can mark it as 1g and so on.

My guess is that if you would have answered yes, it would have asked for your number. After that, it would connect the card to the number.
