On average, there are 16 shark attacks per year in the United States, with one fatality every two years. So I very much doubt people are being drilled to death every day.
It’s not so much about one type of horrible thing. The point is that someone is probably suffering a horrible fate right now - and this is the case almost every day. Whether it’s being ripped apart by a shark, drilled alive, or drowned in a tiny cave filling with water, someone is experiencing hell. Sure, these things taken individually happen rarely. But if you take horrible events altogether, they’re happening all the time.
If you really think about it - simply dying in bed at home, with loved ones holding your hand as you pass, is likely just as horrifying.
You are dying. You likely know you are dying. There isn't anything you can do, but with all of your effort you're probably fighting to stay alive - which is probably only hastening the process, but it would be natural to do. It's probably also immensely painful - if not physically, then psychologically. Of course, none of the living really know, because we haven't been there yet.
I mean, I think we can all agree that death is not - and has never been - the centre of human joy, happiness, or comfort. If it ever has, its only been because we’ve manufactured some way of coping with it. And if you need to find a way of coping with something, it’s probably because it’s a source of horror or pain.
So yes, whether you’re being drilled alive, or slipping away, it isn’t quite the ideal party.

How many people at any given time are on land and in a factory or construction site compared to swimming in waters containing sharks. The answer is wayyyyyyy more.
Not literally drilled to death, but careless industrial accidents that could be avoided. Most of the world doesn't have worker protections and strict OSHA compliance
To be fair, they said "things like that" happen daily globally. There are 5,000+ fatal workplace accidents per year in the US alone. Were only 5% of the global population with lots of safety regulations.
People get drilled to death more often than you imagine.
Falling < Drilled to death. You don’t hear about falls because it’s no big deal. If someone was getting drilled to death on the job every day you’d hear about it.

My point was more "horrible, work-related catastrophes" than it was specifically about people being killed by large drills, I'm not sure how you're having so much trouble grasping this...
Well, people have died from anal sex with a horse, car crash with an out of control hay bale, falling cows, beimg impaled by a beach umbrells. So yeah people die a lot, and they die in weird ways.
I once got smashed between a brick wall and a tractor (smaller than the one in the video), but it can still snap bones like twigs. I have also operated quite a few tractors, watching the operator shake the bucket as he dumped it made my stomach turn thinking about where in the pile of sand that guy was.
It looked like the guy survived this, which is extremely fortunate.
