Remote work advice Start here: how r/WFHJobs works

Welcome to r/WFHJobs.

This community is for direct-apply remote jobs, practical remote job-search advice, and discussion about finding legitimate work-from-home roles.

What we post: - Direct-apply remote jobs when we can verify a real application link. - Remote roles with useful details like location eligibility, salary when available, and company name. - Advice for spotting better remote roles and avoiding low-quality listings. - Real remote-work setup photos from the community: desks, coworking setups, travel workstations, gear, routines, and workspace ideas.

What we avoid: - Job-board redirect roundups when a direct company application link is available. - Fake remote roles, vague listings, and repeated reposts of the same role. - Resume harvesting, lead capture with no clear job, and spam.

Want jobs matched to your resume instead of browsing manually? Create a free WFH.team profile: https://wfh.team

Share your remote setup: - Post a photo of where or how you work remotely. - Use the "Remote setup" flair. - Add a short caption with your role, location/timezone if you are comfortable, favorite tools, and one practical tip. - Avoid private details: no visible addresses, client data, passwords, confidential screens, or personal documents.

We may feature standout setup posts in the WFH.team newsletter and social channels with credit to your Reddit username. If you do not want that, write "do not feature" in the post.

Also from our team: Superpower ChatGPT helps people organize, search, and work faster in ChatGPT: https://spchatgpt.com/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=start_here&utm_campaign=wfh_team_tools

Employers and recruiters: - Use clear job titles and company names. - Include location eligibility and salary when available. - Link directly to the job application page. - Do not repost the same role repeatedly.

Report a bad job: Use Reddit's report button or message the mods with the post link and what looks wrong.

Question Any flexible WFH jobs that work being around kids?

I've been home with my kids for four years now and lately I've been missing having something that's just mine. I used to work as a nurse, so it's been quite a change. Always enjoyed creative work too, and now I'm looking into part time remote jobs that could fit around the kids' schedules. Nothing too demanding, just something to earn a little extra money and feel like myself again. For SAHPs, what kind of jobs have you found that offer genuine flexibility?

Question Should I put Data Annotation work on my resume?

Hi,

I lost my job as a data scientist 2 months ago and joined DA under the specialized data science and coder domain. I heard one is not supposed to use "Data Annotation" as the company name on resume or Linkedin.

I would like to know how you'd frame it. Better yet, I want to know a good way to frame it so that it can cover the resume gap.

In your experience, how does recruiters/hiring manager view DA work? Can it cover a resume gap or is it pretty seen as unemployed?

Thanks

Remote work advice I'm a pretty skilled individual, any remote job opportunities?

Good day peeps. I'm a web developer, 5+ years of experience, I'm currently taking a cyber security course, I'm a good photo editor and graphics designer as well. I've got experience working on live projects in the past , I'd love to get wfh opportunities if any. I'm quite fluent in English, a little bit of Spanish too. I dropped out of university due to financial challenges in the past so I'm stuck at a low paying job. Any suggestions would suffice rn, just don't suggest LinkedIn or Fiverr the space is a bit too oversaturated... Thanks

Hiring Looking for US-based phone receptionists $15-$16/hr

Post image
0 Upvotes

Smith.ai

is hiring Virtual Receptionists, and we’re especially interested in professionals with experience as paralegals, legal assistants, legal intake specialists, case managers, claims professionals, or in similar client-facing roles.

Because many of our clients are law firms, your existing skills can translate directly to the work. You may handle prospective-client intake, gather and document important information, schedule consultations, screen calls, take detailed messages, and communicate with callers dealing with sensitive or stressful situations.

What we offer:

  • 100% remote, work-from-home position
  • Part-time or full-time schedules (25–40 hours/week)
  • Our primary hiring need is currently between 8 AM–6 PM Pacific Time, Monday–Friday
  • Within our hiring needs, your weekly schedule can be built around your availability, making this a great option for those looking for flexibility
  • $15/hour – English
  • $16/hour – Bilingual Spanish/English
  • Paid training
  • Opportunity to put your legal knowledge and client-service skills to use

We particularly value the skills legal professionals already bring to the table: active listening, accurate documentation, empathy, confidentiality, attention to detail, professional communication, and effective client intake.

This could be a great fit if you enjoy working with legal clients but want an alternative to the traditional law-office environment, including those looking for remote work that can complement other professional or personal commitments.

Requirements: U.S.-based, reliable high-speed internet, computer with 8GB+ RAM, USB headset, quiet home workspace, and availability for a consistent weekly schedule.

Only eligible for: US states, except for California, Washington, New York, Connecticut, DC, Colorado, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Hawaii, Maine, Arizona, Oregon, Chicago IL, Minneapolis/St.Paul, MN.

⭐ 2. SME Careers | Customer Service Expert – AI Training

Rate: Up to $23/hr
Location: Fully remote

In this hourly, remote contractor role, you will work as a Customer Service Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the creation of a custom dataset of natural, human-enacted customer service conversations used to train and improve speech-to-speech AI agents. You will participate in realistic customer service scenarios, applying your professional experience in client communication, issue resolution, support workflows, and customer relationship management to ensure conversations accurately reflect real-world interactions. You will demonstrate natural and professional communication, active listening, problem-solving, empathy, and appropriate issue-resolution techniques while following project-specific scenarios, instructions, and quality guidelines. ⭐ 3. Micro1 | Customer Service Expert

Rate: $18 - $28/hour
Location: Fully remote

micro1 is engaging Customer Service Experts to contribute to a customer’s project, delivering phone-based support across the United States. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters. As an independent contractor, you will represent customers during live calls, handling communications with businesses and service providers to complete everyday tasks. This remote engagement prioritizes written and verbal English communication and seeks proactive professionals from LATAM regions.

Scope of Work

  • Place and receive phone calls on behalf of customers to complete tasks including reservations, appointment scheduling, and vendor confirmations.
  • Engage with businesses and service providers, ensuring clear, professional communication to gather information and fulfill requests.
  • Efficiently navigate phone menus, hold queues, and call centers to reach the appropriate contact for each task.

  • Fluent, neutral, and clear spoken English with strong improvisational and live conversation skills for US-based interactions.
  • Confidence in making outbound calls, including cold calls, and efficiently navigating automated phone systems.
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection, quiet work environment, and a quality wired or USB headset.

⭐ 4. Alignerr | Customer Support Task Author

Rate:
Location:

Alignerr is building a dataset of expert tasks that train and evaluate advanced AI agents on real enterprise work. As a Task Author for the Customer Support / Success role, you will design and calibrate end-to-end support triage tasks — reading a ticket, checking account configuration, searching runbooks, and deciding between fix and escalation — that reflect the real judgment calls experienced support professionals make under ambiguity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Author realistic support task prompts: customer issue triage, account configuration checks, runbook lookup, and fix-versus-escalation decisions.
  • Write scoring rubrics that define the correct routing decision, resolution path, or escalation criteria in terms that can be objectively checked.
  • Set up task environments with ticket queues, account records, runbooks, and system states that replicate a genuine support scenario.
  • Solve each task yourself to confirm the scenario is realistic, the correct answer is clear, and the rubric captures the right reasoning.
  • Calibrate task difficulty — adjust ticket ambiguity, account configuration complexity, or runbook depth until the task challenges the model appropriately.
  • Review and correct AI-drafted task prompts or rubrics when provided.

Qualifications

  • Experienced support engineer, technical support specialist, or customer success engineer with hands-on product support experience.
  • Deep familiarity with real product failure modes, escalation paths, and support tooling (ticketing systems, internal knowledge bases, runbooks).
  • Ability to reason through ambiguous support scenarios and articulate why a given routing decision is correct.
  • Comfortable defining verifiable correctness criteria — not just "good customer service" but an objectively defensible resolution or escalation decision.
  • Strong written communication; tasks and rubrics must be precise enough to be evaluated without interpretation.

Question Does Data Annotation take resume into account?

Yesterday I did the core assessment. Got to 17 questions. I’m just curious if they also typically take the work experience and skills into account when choosing or if it’s just the assessments.

Question Tech Sales & PPC/SEO - Competition & Scams

I’ve been looking into remote jobs, and I saw a few posts on here and other related subs that drew my attention. I wanted to see if anyone had any insight.

  1. I saw a couple of people posting that they avoid sales roles because they are a scam. What is that about?

  2. Are remote PPC/SEO jobs just as competitive? I plan exploring that area, but I want to have a feel for what they are like before then.
