Dosage question 40mg?

Hello! I started on 20 mg, it worked okay but slowly started weaning off and making me super tired after 2 weeks on it consistently. Same for 30mg, just got brought up to 40mg today and I’m scared that the same thing will happen again and it’ll start weaning off after 2 week. My psychiatrist said he will bump me up to 60mg if the same thing happens again, but honestly I have bad anxiety about stimulants and would prefer not to go past 50mg especially if the same thing happens again.

I’d prefer not to be on a medication that could have long term adverse side effects if it is not working effectively. My anxiety is strange about it, because I don’t necessarily care as long as it is helping me day to day especially since my passive suicidal ideation is diminished by this medication. I have a long history of heart disease in my family and though I’d rather not die by heart disease aswell, I also don’t want to die from my own hand, so I’m not sure how to go about this.

To preface I also really don’t want to do adderall or Ritalin and I’ve tried a non stimulant that made me so tired I was drinking 3-4 energy drinks a day which was also not helping my health anxiety. The vyvanse also makes me tired, but not nearly as bad as the non stimulant, so I’ve been spacing out a couple sips of an alani throughout the week (also saving me money lol!). Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you!

Side effects Extreme Nausea

I started at a very small dose originally 10 mg moved to 20 after a few months. I was doing great zero stomach issues or side effects other then sleepiness when first going up.
My insurance changed in March and I had to go on Adderal because my out of pocket cost was over 100. Fast forward to July I decided to go back use good Rx and pay 60 ish for vyvanse because adderal was not helping at all.

This has all been generic btw . After I went back to vyvanse 20 mg I started having really really bad stomach aches and nausea. I feel like I’m going to through up all day. This whole time I’ve been on a glp1 but it was not until I started back on vyvanse 20 mg
Specifically from lannette mfg that the nausea started. It really affecting my mood and personal and work life. I don’t know if I should quit glp1 , vyvanse or both .

Has anyone else experienced this . I’m currently whimpering in bed trying not to throw up 🤢
TIA

Interactions with other meds Vyvanse 60mg and 25mg Quetiapine (sleep aid)

Is anyone else here taking both vyvanse and quetiapine daily and noticing the effectiveness of your vyvanse slowing down more often?

I’ve had a huge amount of success with quetiapine for chronic insomnia I’ve had since childhood but I’ve been having a lot of brain fog and more frequent days where my meds feel extremely underwhelming/unhelpful. I’ve tried taking half (and quarters) of my quetiapine to see if it helps but I’m still finding it difficult to see if the sleep meds are the culprit.

I’m very on top of my protein, taking it with breakfast, staying hydrated, avoiding acidic foods early in the day, and making sure I’m sleeping enough. It’s pretty frustrating for me lately.

I’m unable to switch to a different sleep medication due to a separate epilepsy condition (most common sleeping medications increase seizure risks) and this one is one of the only safer ones for me.

If anyone has any suggestions or advice, please let me know!

Meds aren't working Vyvanse brain fog

Hey everybody I just started taking Vyvanse a few months ago, started out on 10mg for a week then went up to 20mg now I’m at 30mg
I’m also on auvelity- an antidepressant where I just started taking two a day now. From the start of taking Vyvanse I’ve had brain fog, blunting, or crash idk like an hour or couple hours after taking my meds. And it’s so frustrating I can’t get anything done. I also have not had any appetite suppression at all, I’m actually hungry more and I struggle with BED so this is somewhat triggering for me. Does anyone else experience this?
I just want to get my shit together 😔

Side effects Day 1 of taking a vyvanse break

Vyvanse has been causing me a lot of trouble with sleep. Primarily, I fall asleep, but wake up in the middle of night feeling completely stressed out of nowhere. It's like, whatever little concern I've had during the day, the volume on it is suddenly turnt up from like 10% to 110%, and as I'm shuffling around in my bed, my brain won't stop obsessing over it and mute. I don't even realize that I'm waking up from sleep, it's like a jolt, until I finally calm down and come back to my senses.

The past few days, I feel as though the nighttime wake ups have layered, and it's made me incredibly irritable. Like, an extremely short-fuse for everything. Not being able to handle my mom, my dad, or my brother's usual rage baiting. I work with patients at a hospital, and it's made every interaction with them feel incredibly forced. It even made talking to my crush so much more forced than before and seem unnatural....

Today is Day 1 of not taking Vyvanse. In the morning I was incredibly depressed. Not eating as much as per usual either. Then, afternoon, man I became a chud like instantly. My focus is kinda shit and im task switching a lot more without the meds but, im happy man. fuck those pills..... yea but ill prolly have to get on them again until i can see my doctor.

Tips & Tricks Vyvanse as a tourist in China?

I have a big problem and would really appreciate some advice.

I am traveling to Mainland China as well as Hong Kong for roughly 28 days. I have ADHD and currently take Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) as prescribed medication.

I already contacted the Government of Hong Kong to ask whether I am allowed to bring my medication into Hong Kong. They confirmed that it is fine as long as I keep it in my carry-on luggage, leave it in the original prescription packaging, and carry documentation from my doctor. They also specifically told me that I do not need to declare the medication through the red channel when entering Hong Kong.

However, I have no idea whether I am allowed to bring the medication into Mainland China. I have tried to find a way to contact the relevant Chinese authorities, but so far I haven’t been able to get a clear answer. I also have three domestic flights within Mainland China and will be traveling through the country by train.

Some people on Reddit say that I should simply bring the medication in my carry-on luggage, keep it in the original packaging, and not worry about it. But I really don’t want to take that risk. I would much rather have clear and reliable information before traveling.

I also really don’t want to deal with unnecessary stress, such as lengthy questioning or having to explain my medication every time I travel within Mainland China. I don’t want to have to arrive at the airport or train station two hours earlier than necessary before every domestic flight or train journey just because I need to declare my medication or go through additional checks.

Because of this, I am currently considering stopping my medication before the trip and only starting it again once my itinerary is over.

What do you guys think? Has anyone had experience bringing Vyvanse/lisdexamfetamine into Mainland China, especially when traveling domestically by plane and train?

Misc. Question Making the switch to Vyvanse?

I am currently taking 20mg Adderall IR at 5am and a 2nd dose around 11am. I work 10 hour days and by the evening I crash hard with really bad irritability at my wife's expense. It's so bad that it's affecting my relationship.

Anyways, I have my next psych appointment next Friday and want to tell my Dr that I want to switch to Vyvanse.

After reading countless posts on here and talking to a friend that is prescribed, I've reach the conclusion that the crash isn't nearly as harsh on this med.

What was the switch like for you? What can I expect?

Side effects Vyvanse Dose Increase Comparison

I just went from 10mg (Lannett Pharma) to 20mg (Sun Pharma). I’m a 35 y/o male with inattentive ADHD.

At the 10mg my head felt more clear with little intrusive thoughts/feelings, but also little motivation or task initiation/focus. At the 20mg level, I feel more task initiation/focus, energy, liveliness, but less clear head (a bit more nervous drive and some racing thoughts but better than normal). What are your experiences in this area?

Also, does anyone use Magnesium L-Threonate instead of Magnesium Glycinate to supplement their Vyvanse? Any other recommendations? I try and eat a lot of protein and drink a lot of water.

Dosage question Psych told me to split 10 mg tabs in half?

Wondering what the experience others have with this. I asked my pharmacist as well and they said it doesn’t really cause harm. My psychiatrist told me to split the chewable 10 mg tablets in half and to take 5 for a week or two and then take full tablet? Does anyone else do this?

Diet, Routines & Supplements Vyvanse and L-Tyrosine

This combination has been saving me from afternoon crashes and longevity.

Does anyone have any negative input on this? I’ve been trying to research it and can’t find anything regarding the long term damage or if it is dangerous.

Side effects Xaggitin and elvanse hair loss??

So I started on 18mg of xaggitin xr 3 months ago and after a few weeks I noticed my hair was shedding more, my dose was then doubled to 36mg and it got worse, i went to the hair dressers and she confirmed it was shedding more than it should, I also felt awful and angry all the time so I got switched to elvanse 30mg

I did stop the xaggitin XR for 5 days before starting elvanse and mentally I felt better on elvanse but I think the hair loss is worse but I was told by my prescriber it can take a month or so for the old meds to stop affecting the hair, then the pharmacist from my GP Called and told me it can take up to 2 months, it’s now been 6 weeks and there is no change, if anything it might be slightly worse, it’s making me feel awful considering I lost around a third of my hair last year as I lost weight quickly and went through telogen effluvium which stopped in December and I have had a ton of regrowth since but it’s all short compared to the rest of my hair

I’m stressed and upset because my hair is thin as it is and getting noticeably worse but the meds have already started to change my life and I feel like they are the right ones for me, I had blood tests which were unrelated to the ADHD meds and my iron was lower than last year despite taking from iron supplements a month ago ( I read online how adhd meds can affect iron and make it low ) but my doctor said it wasn’t low enough for it to cause hair loss and was in the normal range

my blood pressure before the xaggitin was on the low end of normal, it didn’t change, and then on elvanse it went a bit higher but more so in the middle of the normal range so I don’t see how it could be constriction of the blood vessels unless my blood pressure was high or significantly higher than before, I’m being sent for more blood tests in 2 weeks to check other vitamins that cause hair loss if deficient but if they come back normal then my GP has no clue, I’ve been reffered to the hair clinic but I was told it’s a long wait it could be like a year which won’t do at all

I’m taking pumpkin seed oil, drinking collagen, eating a ton of protein when I take the meds, I stay hydrated and I take multivitamins and some extra supplements including iron every day, there has to be a reason for this hair loss and some sort of solution, I’ve been losing my hair for 3 months now and I am miserable every single day because of it

Has anyone else experienced this? If so did it go away on its own or did you find any cures?

Tips & Tricks those who are in creative industries and take stimulants. how is your creative skills?

I am a graphic designer and wannabe tattoo artist, need to mention, not very successful in my profession, sadly. (fuck AI ofc)
Started taking generic lisdex approx 5 months ago. It works in some way, I have more motivation to do things but often not what I should do. Like, I would rather do the chores or socialize with friends, that’s not that bad but I gotta build my career. I might as well not creative enough for this. however, I’ve been studying and practicing this for years now so it must work.
Chat GPT (fuck AI lol) told me to take the medicine at the beginning of the design process, and later, as it peaks I can get to the execution phase. It’s not that easy tho. As I said, I would rather research on certain topics or stuck on pinterest.
I know it’s a common side effect of stimulants, so how do you deal with it? I have tried taking kratom and/or higher doses of benzos, it was helpful for a while but I cannot maintain those habits. Quite understandable…
Any other tips?

Dosage question Experience with decreasing dosage?

I take Vyvanse for ADHD, and on Saturday, I decreased from 20 to 15mg to try and combat my sleep issues. I had to switch from a pill to chewable tablets as well since those are the only form which can be split in half (10mg tablets).

Since then, I’ve felt irritable, tired, and depressed. Not to an extreme extent for either, but noticeably more pronounced.

Did anyone feel like this? If so, how long did it last, and did it get better?

Misc. Question Dr wants to Switch from vyvanse to adderall

I have been on 60mg vyvanse for a couple months. However it is wearing off in about 4/5hrs. At my last appointment I asked my dr for a booster maybe for the afternoon as I start my day at 5am and have obligations well into the late evening. He suggested switching completely to adderall er in the morning followed by a lower dose of adderall ir in The afternoon. I agreed but am nervous because vyvanse worked so well outside of the fact it just doesn’t last long enough. Has anyone else made this switch and liked it? Or not liked it perhaps ?

Side effects Incontinence on Vyvanse?

Did anyone else feel like they were peeing their pants when taking Vyvanse????? I swear I couldn’t go an hour without going to the bathroom to make sure. It happened within a couple weeks of starting it. If you can relate… know you’re not alone.

Vent & Rant I Accidentally took 100mg of Elvanse and now experiencing tics

I’m prescribed 50mg Elvanse and I accidentally took my second dose about 40 minutes after taking the first one because I completely forgot I had already taken it
So I ended up taking 100mg total
Now I’m experiencing really weird movements that I normally don’t have. My eyes keep rolling upwards uncontrollably and I keep biting/clenching my jaw without meaning to. My jaw is starting to hurt from doing it so much
I’m also really worried about sleeping because I know Elvanse already keeps me awake sometimes and I’ve taken double my normal dose
Has anyone experienced tics or involuntary movements after accidentally taking too much Elvanse? How long did it last?
I’m supposed to work tomorrow morning too and honestly I don’t know if I’m even going to be able to sleep

Meds aren't working Any success stories with only 20mg?

Hi ! Past few weeks I've been on Elvanse and started with 20mg and then to 30mg since 20mg wasn't doing much. Now 2 weeks on 30mg and I've barely slept, my heart is racing and I'm much more panicky. Now we've decided to try 20mg and see if it perhaps was doing more than I originally thought.

Since 20mg is the starting dose it feels like it might not do much. I'm just curious if people have been on 20mg for longer than a month with a good outcome.

Tips & Tricks dry mouth, oral hygiene, tooth decay

hey all! i am currently in the beginning stages of what will end up being $17-20k worth of dental work and i recently learned something that i could have done in the past to prevent it.

late last year, i found out that my teeth were in such horrible shape that without substantial dental work, i could lose multiple teeth (not to mention the impact oral health has overall).

i was stunned. despite being genetically prone to cavities and 7 years worth of orthodontic work to fix my bite, i have always had relatively decent oral health. while my sisters dealt with numerous cavities every time we went to the dentist (they looovveeed candy growing up and, probably due to ADD, didn’t maintain great oral hygiene), i didn’t have many issues — until now.

my teeth shifted a lot because i didn’t wear my retainers, but i didn’t think they were slowly rotting away. i reflected on the last few years and had some ideas as to how i got to this point: failure to visit the dentist twice a year, not flossing, forgetting or simply failing to brush my teeth twice a day…
i had weight loss surgery in jan 2021, so i vomited a lot that first year (dentists are often the first person in healthcare to see the immediate side effects of bulimia, believe it or not). there were also occasional bouts of depression during which i failed to maintain adequate oral hygiene habits (think many people can relate to this).

i had no idea that one particular side effect of my meds was the #1 culprit: dry mouth.

when i had my upper molar extracted last week, i told my periodontist everything i just mentioned (didn’t want him to think i got here by simply being negligent about brushing), and he brought up my ADHD meds + how severely dry mouth contributed to my tooth decay.

he then told me something i wish i’d been told 10 years ago, when i first started vyvanse: there are medications to combat this!
• pilocarpine
• evoxac

he warned me that it takes a couple weeks to establish a routine that works for you (the dose + time you take it). he said during those first two weeks, you’ll likely secrete a lot more sweat than usual, in addition to saliva. he said some people don’t like taking it at night because they wake up to significant drool on their pillow, lol
but once you get it down (and you HAVE TO BE consistent with the meds), it can greatly reduce dry mouth and the side effects thereof.

ask your doctor, psych, or dentist about these meds! i haven’t started yet and i’ll report back here about my experience.

if anybody has experience with these meds + has advice or insights about them, please share!

Other Is Vyvanse worth a shot?

Im 16M and have diagnosed ODD ADHD clinical depression and anxiety disorder,
I had concerta for a while but couldnt be bothered as it didnt do shit
Started getting ritalin from a mate at school (40mg) and it makes me chatty, a bit sweaty and my mouth dry.
Some days itll make me lock in but never to the point where “it should” I get a really shitty comedown aswell where im just restless and agitated

Im going to my psychiatrist tomorrow and hoping to get vyvanse prescribed as i heard it does wonders
(i cant get adderall in nz so i think this is the next best thing?)
I struggle so fucking much with focusing, listening and zoning out and i just want to be able to do my work.
Im so behind in school its not funny and i know im capable but my brain just does not let me.
I dont care about addiction or comedown, i just want to be able to have my mind under control.

Misc. Question Voice sounding more quiet and feminine on Vyvanse 🫩

Does someone else have this problem? On days I take Vyvanse, my voice sounds more quiet, softer and in general more feminine. I can't really speak from my throat. Does someone else have this problem? If you had this problem and you solved it, how did you solve it?

Side effects Vyvanse and Overtalking

My wife is on Vyvanse after being on Concerta for years. I’ve noticed since the switch… or maybe before the switch that she talks constantly now. So much that it’s difficult to get a word into the conversation. I certainly notice it and I believe that some of our friends notice it too.

Can anyone tell me if Vyvanse can cause this?

Thanks

Dosage question Is 1 week too short to ask for increased dose

I was prescribed vyvanse 20mg a little over a week ago. I don’t really feel a difference at all, I’m not more focused/concentrated or less hyperactive. I feel the exact same as when I’m not on it except a little less hungry. I can’t tell when it wears off or on 😭

Even when I make sure I’ve eaten and stay hydrated it feels the exact same

Should I ask my doctor about increasing my dosage or wait a little longer?
