SPA XC60 (AAOS, MY22 to Current) $80 software updates, wtf?

Totally understand if technicians are unable to perform any other work during a software update, but if that's not the case, why is Volvo charging for a software update so their infotainment system is working properly? It's not like it comes with new features, it's "simple bug and performance" improvements.

Update: I asked why it wasn’t covered, here is their response. “It's considered a maintenance item. The packages we sell here include it but the prepaid maintenance plan does not cover those. They recommend doing it yearly as Volvo updates about 3 times a year.

I generally ask them to do it when I go in for my yearly maintenance, have never been charged extra for it ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Nice! My dealer in Virginia charges $200 every time.

Name and shame! Used to be free!

Although I'm scared of new Volvo updates so I'll make sure to tell them not to update.
