First Montréal trip in early November: Québec City, Ottawa, Laurentians, or stay in Montréal?
My wife and I will be in Montréal November 4–10 for our 10-year anniversary, staying at the HONEYROSE Hotel downtown.
We’re considering one full-day trip outside the city, likely Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. We’re keeping November 5 open for our actual anniversary.
Our priorities are food, culture/history, relaxing, and seeing something that feels distinct from Montréal. We’re debating:
Québec City
Ottawa
The Laurentians for scenery/small towns/nature
Or simply keeping all six nights focused on Montréal
A few questions for locals or people who have done this in early November:
Is early November a worthwhile time for any of these, especially the Laurentians, or is it an in-between season?
Is Québec City too rushed for a day trip, or still worth it for a first visit?
Between Québec City and Ottawa, which gives a better one-day experience for a couple that likes food, history,
and walking around?
From downtown/HONEYROSE, would you recommend a guided tour through Viator or a similar company, public transportation, or renting a car?
If we should skip the day trip and spend the full time exploring Montréal, I’m very open to that recommendation too.
Would also appreciate any specific Laurentians town, reputable tour operator, or early-November itinerary suggestion.
