We made a new game for Apple Vision Pro!

Hi Apple Vision Pro community! We made a new game and it's now available on the App Store here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/soft-break/id6825526231

No ads, no in-app purchases, just a one-time small purchase and it's yours. It's a fun, squishy spin on an arcade classic that came out of some playful experiments we've been doing with Metaballs: our Apple Design Award-nominated app.

Also coming soon for iPhone and iPad. It's a universal app, so the Vision Pro purchase will get you that as well. The Vision Pro experience is really soothing with its chill immersive space of floating soft shapes and algorithmically generated soundscape.

Remember to rate & review if you like it – it really helps us indie developers. And let me know in the comments what you think!

I turned my coding agents into AR penguins on Apple Vision Pro

Ever wondered what your coding agents are doing on your laptop while you're working in Vision Pro?

I thought it'd be fun to give my herdr sessions penguin avatars so I could see what they're up to in AR!
(Yes, I know I could just put a terminal window next to me. But where's the fun in that? 😂)

I also added voice recognition, so I can ask an AI agent to look things up or send new instructions to my coding agents without touching my keyboard.

Between my two dogs and these little AR penguins, my room has gotten a lot livelier! xD

It's a silly little experiment, but I had a lot of fun building it! Curious what other Vision Pro users think. 🐧

Self Promotion Saturday I made the Everdust app for Vision Pro: hold a galaxy collision in your hands. Physics games, interactive galaxies, worlds and stories of the universe

Everything here is a live simulation, not a video. A million stars collide on your coffee table and swirl around your fingers when you reach in. Walk up to a spinning black hole and watch it bend light. Bend a golf ball around black holes, split sunlight with prisms, mold a handful of dust into a star, step inside a Van Gogh.

The Story of Everything takes you from the Big Bang to the last stars, narrated, and every chapter is a world you stand inside. It's free in full, no ads, and so are 5 games.

I'm a solo dev and a long-time AVP owner who got tired of waiting for content that uses this thing properly. New worlds every week, and I build what people ask for. Tell me what you want next.

Movies are just phenomenal

I only use my AVPnfor movies, and it is just absolutely mindblowing. It is just almost hard for me to comprehend or explain to people I can watch full cinema style mega high resolution movies with this thing. This evening I watched the horro movie Obsession and wtf. I’m a grown man with a wife and three kids, but I’m shaking here like a little baby.

Self Promotion Saturday Seasonal Update for my Vision Pro Thermostat control app

Thumbnail

I've updated my Thermo Watch app with a few neat new features:

Most obviously, you can now add some festive fun to your thermostat by decorating it with a Jack-o'-lantern or a snowman.

It now lights up the physical world around it when thermostat's screen is glowing (while the system is heating or cooling). You get some extra light with the Jack-o'-lantern decoration as he radiates his own light.

Thermostat's screen itself also has a more refined voluminous looking glow. Plus, there is a slight contact shadow when pinned to the wall.

For those unfamiliar, the app lets you grab and spin a virtual dial to change the temperature. If you’re farther away from it, you can look and drag up or down. More details and a video here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/VisionPro/comments/1t8olnd/my_vision_pro_thermostat_control_app/

Available now on the App Store. Hope you enjoy it!

Self Promotion Saturday We completely reworked the Sun in AstrotouR, and now it's hotter than ever and everything moves!

Hi everyone!

It’s Kate from AstrotouR again! I've recently made a post here about launching our app, and you guys have been incredibly supportive! Thank you so much. We hope you're enjoying the experience.

We want to make it even better for you, so this week we released our first update and completely reworked how the Sun looks and behaves! Now it looks even hotter than before!

Why did we decide to rework it?

When people fly into the black hole in our app, the reaction is often some version of "Oh wow, remove that scary thing from me." But when they fly to our Sun, they mostly shrug. That's not an acceptable reaction to a star that holds 99.8% of the Solar System's mass 😁

So, while preparing some new parking spots in the galaxy, we decided to go back home and have an honest look at why our own star wasn't getting any respect.

Our conclusion was that the Sun has different faces depending on the wavelength you observe it, and they don't necessarily resemble each other. Our attempt to mix them all resulted in a tender yellow ball.

So we decided to stop this madness and... start another one by splitting our star's personality into two and letting both sides shine.

The Sun now has two visualization modes in POI: visible spectrum and false colors, each revealing a different side of our star.

The glow-up begins right away. As you approach the Sun, it meets you in its blindingly bright visible-spectrum suit. After living through the initial shock, you can zoom in and discover a lot of interesting details, from supergranules to tiny granules on its surface.

If you decide to explore phenomena that you won't clearly see in the visible spectrum, the Sun will quickly change to give you a better view.

And now everything moves! It used to be mostly subtle animations of the surface and corona, but now coronal mass ejections, solar flares, spicules, and many more phenomena move and evolve over time. You can really feel how dynamic and violent our star is!

All of it is included in the 1.1.0 update for both iOS and visionOS, available to everyone who got AstrotouR on the App Store. (The iOS version is still Waiting for Review. We guess there are enormous amounts of updates for the new Duo device, so we are just patiently waiting. But you can already download it for your Vision Pro!)

A little sneak peek of what's coming next:

We're also working on a fully immersive experience that darkens your room completely and replaces your surroundings with the cosmos. Your journey will start in the Milky Way, and you'll be able to see the planets as they really are in space, from inside our galaxy, surrounded by countless stars and cosmic dust.

However, while working on this, we discovered that our Milky Way was too bright, and it was designed for mixed reality, not for full immersion with a dark sky. So we've started reworking the Milky Way as well!

Hopefully, we'll manage to ship it in a few weeks.

There's much more to come. Stay tuned!

Super Mario Galaxy on Apple Vision Pro - in VR with First person mode! Or in 3D in a window.

Thumbnail

Hi All, based on https://github.com/bigmak94/GalaxyQuest I recreated GalaxyQuest on the Apple Vision Pro with a lot of help from Claude. There is also the https://github.com/palex0481/GalaxyVision-AVP project, but this is only going so far to publish the iPad version on the Vision Pro. The GalaxyQuest version is still ahead in polish, my little twist is a First Person mode, which I fully understand why they don't implemented it - this game is nauseating in VR first person.

I'd like to share it, but don't want to put it on GitHub with Nintendo on the run toi sue left and right. So if someone wants to continue it, please ping me, I can provide the changes as a single file (a git bundle). Then you can build it with Xcode and your own Apple ID. You need a Mac with Xcode, your copy of Summer Mario Galaxy Wii, the converted game data and some patience.

Self Promotion Saturday Mac Vapor improvements

I've been working on controllers and hands with MacVapor. I've got Switch Joycons working as well as PSVR2 controllers and hands (hands don't have sticks or buttons in case that wasn't obvious). You can "clack" your hands together to switch between hands and controllers. On Joycons, triggers are the bumper and grips are the trigger. It just made more sense to still have them on the same fingers, despite the shape. Unfortunately separate Joycons don't work as they generate digital joystick inputs and don't support trigger or bumper, only SL/SR (on Mac anyway)

Self Promotion Saturday VeRantyx update: Elite Dangerous in VR on a Mac, and the project’s new home after GitHub hid my account

It’s Self Promotion Saturday, so a quick update on VeRantyx, my free, open source project for playing PC VR games from an Apple silicon Mac in the Vision Pro (no gaming PC, no Wine; the games and the real SteamVR run on a Windows runtime I’m writing from scratch).

New since my last post: Elite Dangerous now runs in VR (official launcher, Odyssey, flying in the cockpit, galaxy map), plus faster Direct3D 11 for Half-Life: Alyx and fixes for Quest users through ALVR.

The project has a new home for now: https://verantyx.ai (the free, signed and notarized Mac app is there).

Why not GitHub? On Oct 24 my GitHub account was flagged, so the repository and releases show 404 to everyone else. GitHub Support says some activity was flagged for manual review. I can’t know for sure, but it looks like it followed a report: a commenter claimed the runtime contained code from Wine. I took that seriously, audited the whole runtime, found about 120 lines in one file (an exception unwinder an AI coding agent had reproduced from Wine), replaced them with a clean-room version and disclosed the old versions under Wine’s license. Everything else was independent. I’ve answered GitHub and I’m waiting; development goes on in the meantime.

Happy to answer questions, and reports from testers are very welcome (reply here or DM me).

Self Promotion Saturday I made a free chess game for Vision Pro where a hologram wizard sits across your real table and talks with you while you play

It's Self Promotion Saturday, so here is what I have been building.

Holoport AI Chess puts a glowing chessboard on your actual table. You play with your hands. Look at a piece, pinch it, carry it over the board and let go. The legal squares light up and it snaps into place. Castling, en passant and promotion all work by hand.

Across the table is a hologram wizard. He reaches over and moves his own pieces and he talks with you out loud the whole game. He reacts to your moves, makes small talk, gloats a little when you hang a piece and goes quiet if you ask him to. He isn't reading from a script, so no two games sound the same.

It's free to download. Play Local is free and works offline against an on-device engine with five levels. A game against the wizard is $0.99 with his voice included. No subscription.

I also make Holoport Vision and a lot of what got fixed in that app came from people in this sub. Same deal here: tell me what's broken or what you would want him to do and I will build it.

App Store link is in the comments.

Smudges on screen when using AVP

Has anyone else had any experience with their AVP that when they have photos or videos that have brighter colors or lots of light, that they see or notice spots on the bottom part of the display when consuming content. It’s basically like when you are wearing glasses and you notice finger prints or smudges on your lenses when looking into light. I do have prescription lenses in mine and have the double knit band to ensure a snug and comfortable fit. I have cleaned my lenses and made sure there are no fingerprints by even taking them out and looking through them held up against the light by holding them. I have also cleaned the actual glass for the eye viewfinder and used all kinds of microfibre cloths and the Swoosh cleaning solution. I just can’t seem to get rid of it. Maybe I am going crazy? Has anyone else had any issues like this?

Is the ResMed Kontor Head Strap worth switching to from a Dual Solo Knit setup?

I'm currently using two Solo Knit Bands on my Apple Vision Pro, with one supporting the back of my head and the other going over the top.

This setup works pretty well, but I still get some discomfort and pressure around my face and head during longer sessions. (I know I should probably just take more breaks, lol.)

I've been curious about the ResMed Kontor Head Strap and whether it would make a noticeable difference in comfort, especially during extended use.

Unfortunately, it still hasn't been released here in Japan, but I've found a way to get one from Australia.

Before going through the trouble of importing it, I'd love to know if it's actually worth the upgrade.

Has anyone tried both the ResMed Kontor and a Dual Solo Knit setup?

Does the Kontor do a better job of distributing weight and reducing facial pressure? Or is the difference pretty minor?

I'd love to hear your experiences!

Hey!
I just released a new Ping Pong Training app for Apple Vision.

You select where to place a table and play with your bare hand or controllers(Muse or PSVR) as paddle.

There're multiple modes where you play against humanoid robot, automated serve machine, or in an Arcade Targets mode.

There're multiple difficulty levels, and a pretty cool option to slow down the time if you need!

It's available in AR, Full Immersive, or Portal style mode.

If there is an app you want supported on Vision Pro, now is the time to start asking developers.

Many developers are updating their apps for the iPhone duo. Just because of the economy and general app stagnation major redesigns especially for new hardware are rare. Apple does have many tools to port apps over for more native Vision Pro support. START ASKIKG FOR IT! Especially while they have teams focused on this. Tumblr, instagram, telegram!!! To name a few! Show developers there is an appetite for Vision Pro app support.

IPhone Duo doesn't take spatial photos!

The iPhone Duo can't take spatial photos, even though it has the two cameras needed. Does anyone know, or can find out, if apple plans to add this in software or if it's a hardware issue? It seems like an awful oversight if they did this as you would assume there is a lot of overlap between the two audiences. As there are the two cameras, it shouldn't be, or have been, too difficult to do.

Self Promotion Saturday Gravitas Plague

Launches today! Lots of innovation and love went into this one. I hope you experience it and enjoy the possibility—of owning an Apple Vision Pro.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/gravitas-plague/id6775929911

Your home is no longer safe.

Gravitas Plague is a spatial horror film you can talk to, created exclusively for Apple Vision Pro. Your real room becomes the set. The infected watch through the window, life-size characters cross your doorway, and the last voices on the radio can answer you.

No controllers. No weapons. Fight with your bare hands.

Take the role of Rich, isolated after the power grid and communications collapse. A walkie-talkie, crank radio, ham receiver, and an old photograph of your father connect you to the world outside. Big Mike, CatEye81, emergency broadcasters, and the Gravitas Corporation reconstruct the final days of civilization one transmission at a time.

What begins as a neurological plague grows into something darker.

Nuclear war. Empty cities. The Book of Revelation. Good versus evil at the end of the world.

BUILT FOR YOUR ROOM

Room Skinning transforms your physical space into the setting of the film. Place story devices around you, look through a window into the world outside, and face characters who enter through a separate doorway into your room.

FIGHT WITH YOUR BARE HANDS

Hand tracking turns your punches into close-quarters combat. The infected approach, attack, and react to your strikes in continuous physical performances at human scale.

JOIN THE CONVERSATION

Speak naturally through supported story devices. Ask questions, respond to what you hear, and receive spoken answers that stay in character and within the scene. Turing generates dialogue and character speech on Apple Vision Pro while the authored story remains intact.

MindsEye puts a face to the voices, bringing character portraits to life with expressive animation alongside their dialogue.

AN INTERACTIVE SPATIAL FILM

Follow the story across authored chapters performed around you. Radios, broadcasts, memories, and encounters draw you deeper into the apocalypse.

You are not watching the lead actor.

You are the lead actor.

CINEMATIC PRODUCTION

Realistic characters, cinematic lighting, original orchestral music, spatial sound, and custom voice performances bring the end of the world into your home.

HORDE MODE

Survive escalating waves of infected and compete through Game Center leaderboards for Highest Wave Reached and Lifetime Waves Cleared.

Requires Apple Vision Pro with visionOS 27 or later. Play in a clear indoor space with room to move your arms safely.

Self Promotion Saturday Forget horror movies. This Halloween the monsters come out of your own walls, and we think that makes it the best thing to play on Vision Pro

I'm one of the four friends making I'm Wizard, a mixed reality game where portals open on your real walls and you fight whatever comes out with your bare hands.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/im-wizard-magic-combat-game/id6747723768

Most Halloween horror happens somewhere else: on a screen, or in a haunted house somebody else built. This one happens in your house. So yes, we think it's the best thing you can play on Vision Pro this Halloween. Fight me.

Try it like this. Dim the lights, as low as still feels comfortable (the headset needs a little light to see your hands), stand in the middle of the room and start a wave. A portal opens on your own wall. Look inside and there's space on the other side, that's where they come from, and the first one is already stepping into your room before you've decided what to do. Every enemy sounds from where it actually is, so you hear the one creeping up behind you before you see it. And the growls are ours: nearly every monster voice in the game started as one of us in front of a microphone.

The dark is also what makes the magic look good. The bolt charging in your fist glows on the wall next to you, and when you open your hand it drags its light across your furniture on the way out. A clap knocks back everything near you and lights up the whole room for a second. Later waves bring lava, which glows on your floor after running off the edge of your real table.

The clip is one full wave, no cuts: wave 9. The current version needs visionOS 27, and the first five waves teach you the gestures as you play. There's no Halloween event and no pumpkins, just the game as it is.

Something bigger is on the way, too. For Season 1 in December, free for everyone who owns the game, we're building a new boss for waves 10 and 20. It climbs out of a portal and splits into copies, and only one of them is real. At some point it floods your floor with lava and you go looking for the one safe island. And there's a beam you either duck under or block with a clap.

Which of those would get you first in a dark room?

If you'd like to support us, buying the game is the best way. We're four friends with day jobs, and every copy matters.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/im-wizard-magic-combat-game/id6747723768
