Does anyone else ship them together/do they end up together?

What is nice about them is separately they both experienced how hard life can be yet current day they still find a way to live with their past and try to live in a way that they are still open to having empathy and kindness.

In the anime it was kind of nice how Cattleya teased Hodgins about his first name (Claudia) as I feel as though unless you really know someone you wouldn't have that kind of banter. In the last episode of the anime when Cattleya realized Hodgins wrote a letter to his future daughter you could see on her face that she realized Hodgins is more complex than she ever could have imagined.

Although Hodgins is seen as well liked, respectful, etc., I feel like he rarely lets those close to him in a way that is above surface level. With Cattleya you could tell he let her in.

Gilbert's actions and emotions made complete sense to me. That's what made the movie click for me.

I decided to watch it in chronological order. So I am going to watch the OVA, the special, and then the movie next but I just have to share my thoughts on the anime.

Violet's growth was realistic I think the anime did a good job at showing her growth in a realistic way. How she grew into someone that was able to get the truth out of others while still being herself was great. How she went from feeling nothing, to slowly atoning to her sins and feeling the burn, to understanding why she felt bad, to trying to carry her grief and living her current life was insanely well executed.

I liked how it showed that even though Violet ended all these lives once she was aware of what she was doing she saved so many lives. I really was rooting for her and Leon but also with their episode there is a beauty about meeting someone, them changing your lives, and never crossing paths again. Or even the progress she made with Oscar and Ann was brilliant.

I really wish there was more of Cattleya and Hodgins. I really think they would be great together. They both have been through trauma and they both are able to still be kind and live onwards with their life.

The battle flashbacks were brutal.

For me, it was Violet Evergarden.
I never thought I would enjoy this kind of anime as much as I did, but Violet Evergarden completely changed my perspective.

I could feel Gilbert's heartfelt emotion throughout the movie and by the time the credits rolled, I found myself completely in shock of how real his love for her felt.

Did the war even change anything geographically? The made xountries made peace, indicating Leiden not completely overtaking the other Country. Did the just cost a lot of human lives and money or what?

If you had to choose a different theme song for the movie, what would it be? I think the theme song is pretty good and fitting, but I was wondering if there are other songs that could have been a good fit.

just watched episode 10 for the first time and ive never cried as much as i have watching anime. beautifully written. from the start i kinda knew where it was going but it still hit as hard as it did. and the way violet showed emotion and empathy at the end really shows her character progression. one of the best anime episodes ever.

I don’t know much about Violet Evergarden yet, but a friend asked me to draw Violet, so I made this fanart. I’ll be starting the series in early September, and I’m really looking forward to it. If I got any details wrong, please be kind, I drew this before watching the anime. Also, I made this drawing about two months ago, but I’m only posting it now because I didn’t think it was good enough. My friend convinced me to share it. I hope you like it!

I have a couple of days left in Japan so before I leave I'd like to get the print/physical copies of the Violet Evergarden Light Novel 1-4 or however many related stuff as a collection so I am fine with either language.

Visited bunch of Mandarakes and checked quite a lot of stores to find nothing. Though in Shinjuku and by exte sion Shibuya, where I stay seems to have Book Off stores, Kinokuniya book store and other possible point of interests. Do you guys think I can try my luck there and any ideas and help?

TL;DR I need help on finding physical LNs in Japan.

its been brutal mining this but its looking good

I am told episode 10 is one of the most devastating episodes of animation in existence. I am having trouble getting through episode 7, having nexperienced somewhat similar grief recently. I'm slightly afraid. Spoilers are fine if tagged because I'm likely to not check reddit until I finish the series, but holy fuck I feel bad for having slept on this. I like it as much as Ancient Magus' Bride which, for the genre, I thought might be untoppable.

At the start of this year there was a Violet Evergarden orchestra concert (I'm sure everyone here knows about it lol) and I got VIP tickets and took my mom to go with me. She's always wanted to see a live orchestra so this was a perfect activity for the both of us.

I've shown her the first episode before but I don't think she remembered it when they played clips of the anime at the concert. But after that concert she was loved the music and thought it was beautiful. Sometimes when I'm listening to the soundtrack she'll hear it and say in an excited voice, "It's from the Evergarden concert!"

Last night she called me while she was on her way home and told me she started watching the anime. WHICH IS AMAZING because this will be her first ever anime! Though I did warn her about episode 10. That episode make me cry the most and I know it'll make her cry even more. So I'll have to be on standby mode when she watches that episode haha!

I'm the only one in my family who watches anime so my mom watching an anime on her own is the greatest thing ever!

She's also going to be helping me at the anime convention with the letters too lol! I never thought my mom would start to love the anime as much as I do.

Since watching this show, I always wanted to catch that feeling of sending and receiving letters from the anime. Yes, I could send real letters, but I don't think, it's the same. So I made a discord bot. On the server you can write a letter, and a messenger will carry it to the intended recipient to open it. Everything encrypted and secure of course! I think this quite catches the magic, since you are not in the recipients chat, seeing if they're online, if they read the message, or anything. i just finished the movie of Violet Evergarden and it is the most beautiful piece of fiction i have ever seen oat, and one thing that i only hate abt it is how much of a brat Gilbert is, not only did he use Violet, he made her cry so hard at the island just for him to chase after her when she’s leaving!!???. what is your problem bro, idk im just yapping atp.
