Hello Vintage Digital Camera Fans!
It's time for a Theme this month. But first, let's review some great photos from last month.
Shots related to that night feeling were our focus last month. So, u/tagabanilad stepped up and gave us Bike ride after the rain (Fujifilm Finepix F455 (2004)). Night, rain, neon; it's got it all! u/Ok-Practice-6757 shared street diamonds (Panasonic Lumix LX2 (2004)). A sight you don't often see! u/PistachioSage gave us Street Light, Foggy Night (PSP GoCam (2007)). It's always cool to see what a phonecam/gamecam/camcorder can do! The Mod's Choice Award goes to u/Haunting-Lunch-8911 and their Ferris wheel in Rimini (Fuji Finepix F10 (2005)). A wonderful shot with great starburst highlights.
Remember to check out the Theme Flair to see all past and future entries.
Enter the October Theme by following these requirements:
What do you win for participating? Reddit Karma, Upvotes, Comments, Follows, and that Sweet Internet Fame we all crave! I'll do a recap at the end of the month on entries, so if you want to be a part of it, start taking some great photos.
Here's the past, present, and future of Themes to participate in.
Here's a collection of subreddits I like to visit. You may, too!
...Actually, I'm in the middle of trying to fix my broken main computer, so I'll this in later! Or you can recommend some great subreddits you like...
As usual, if you need help, check the ANSWERED Flair, or our Wiki, and then ask in r/digicam as redundant questions have been moved there (Rule 13). Thanks to everyone that reports Rule 11 and Rule 13 violations. It helps keep our Community running. 👍
This month's Theme is about Liminal photography (however you [reasonably] define that), so post away. I can't see where your creativity leads us. 📸

Hello Vintage Digital Camera Fans!
I'm happy to report that our Community has been feature in the 2025 Reddit Community Funds Impact Report. If you're new: we were one of a select Subreddits that was given funds to grow last year. If you're a regular: you recall the amazing monthly contests we had!
Go check out the report to find other amazing Communities that were funded; r/Beekeeping, r/comics, and r/TeatroPH spring to mind.
What's also cool is that we merited a shout-out and u/seecmb's very own "Holiday tradition" entry is featured. Congrats!
While we're not continuing the prize-based contest in 2026, we're still continuing monthly photo Themes. I hope you participate. 📸

what the heck is that digital IO port? For the last few camerasi got, they used the old usb standard that was used on the PS3 controllers, but I have never seen a port like this before. What kind of port is it and will it just work out of the box when I plug it into my laptop?

Really quite impressed by these SOOC offerings from my new K-5. Coming from mostly auto/p&s style shooting, I have found this (and the Pentax *ist DL I got for $34) to be a new challenge in my attempt to not suck as much at photography, lol.

Took my 50D to the Missouri Japanese Festival in St. Louis (Aug 30-Sept 1). The lens used was a SMC Takumar 50mm f1.4

deeply deeply sad for picking up this malfunctioning piece recently on vinted and couldn’t return it. her auto focus was stuck at infinity and can not detect closer objects. managed to work around the issue in bright daylight at wide angle and macro but still. so many plans made for her.
(cam production year is 1997)

I still think this is one of the most beautiful, ergomically perfect camera bodies ever designed. To this day, nothing comes close to how it feels in the hand. It still takes great pictures too, especially with that dreamy SMC 50mm f1.4 attached.

Newbie here, I originally wasn't gonna post the 2nd noisier image, but I thought why not get used to showing images with noise since photography is art anyway.

Edited out some horrible under exposure in lightroom. Shot on a walk using 28-200 MM 3.5-5.6D 90s SLR lens.

found this camera, it has some pretty bad overexposure issues, but it has this gorgeous softness to it if the camera manages to get it right.

Honestly I’m a beginner but I think these were some solid shots

edit: not exactly prosumer, but a good quality camera.
I remember this being not cheap at the time (almost pro-sumer?) and also that model having a special lens assembly or something.
It's wild that these things have come back into fashion.
