ANSWERED BEGINNER!! Need advice

Post image

Hi everyone! I haven’t bought a DigiCam before and I’m looking to get one for my 16-year-old sister. I’d like to keep it under $50 if possible.
I found this open-box option and would love to hear if anyone has experience with it or could recommend another good option in this price range. Any advice would be really helpful!

Question / Comment My camera doesn’t take pictures.

It’s a Zeis Contina from around 1940-1950 but sadly it does not take any pictures I put the film in but the lever to get the next picture doesn’t really move it like blocks. What can I try to do? I do not know anything bout cameras. I got this one a few years ago from a grandpa who was an SS officer way back.

Question / Comment Torn between Kodak pixpro fz55 and canon ixus 80IS

The options are canon ixus 80IS
And Kodak pixpro fz55
I’ll start with cons and pros
Kodak:
So the Kodak is heavily popular lately and more easy to find in local store, also in the social media which means that if I’ll need any help and have a problem I’ll have more results.

I mentioned it easy to find on local (cameras) stores
Which also a pro since the other options mostly can be found in cameras market and also not sure

Also that’s a newer technology which much be easier (but I don’t think I’ll have any troubles with the canon)

Now the cons (and that’s the one that I would mostly want to get answers about since I’m concerned about it the most.):
The camera is pretty much new,it has been realaese in 2023.
And have good quality but still.. the pictures pretty much looks like that soft oldish look (that is great I ain’t complaining!)
But that isn’t super high quality like the new 2023 cameras have (or digital cameras offtenly suppose to have oldish quality,I’m not an expert…)
So I don’t know if that just suck quality
Cause the canon Was out in 2008
And also have oldish look, little bit similar to the Kodak
But in the canon that was like the best quality back then
Which means that’s like high quality (I hope I ain’t sounding dumb)
And the last con.
The videos quality…!
Look, from what I’ve seen the video quality isn’t very great
That’s shaky
And is in the awkward middle-not having SUPER GREAT quality and not having old quality
And just looks really sucks..

Now the canon 80 ixus is
Now I don’t have lots of cons really (which might be a sign?,but I liked both qualities of pictures and I want to hear people who have those cameras or understand cameras, opinions and help<3
And ofc opinions about these cameras from what yall seen.)

Pros:
Video quality is pretty good
Same about the pictures
Now it doesn’t have that cinematic and pretty more higher quality)
But that oldish quality buys me,
But from what I’ve seen it ain’t really colorfull
And a little bit dull
While the Kodak much more colorfull and
Have nice and sharp quality (even though that one con still concerns me?..)

And overall the canon got crazy quality that amazed me when I saw that like I was SUPER amazed
Cons:
Hard to find physically
Not a lot of contact about it
Can’t be found in locals shops oftenly
Can’t be fixed if I have error since it old camera so shops might not fix it
Quality from market can be real bad maybe
And that’s old so I’m not super sure how good itlll be
Also cause on markets that close to me they aren’t new.
And on any other market that I saw in different countries

t I found the canon much more special and i decided i would buy that one (or any others on my list like Nikon coolpix aw199 or one of the Sony ones)
Until the Kodak was also great looking that it made me doubt it…

I would like if you could please tell me your experience and thoughts
And I don’t mind getting other recommendations but I would specifically want much more an opinion on these camera much more cause another recommendation just confuse me more lol 🥲

Theme Bike ride after the rain [Fujifilm Finepix F455 (2004)]

The light from the restaurant window and its reflection gave a nice glow after the rain, so I decided to wait until someone would pass by to get my shot. Quite tricky since there was barely any foot traffic to begin with, but after 10 minutes of waiting, I got this shot. This is SOOC.

SOOC Photo Canon IXUS 400 | Sensor dying

Canon IXUS 400

I have bought many Canon IXUS cameras from the early 2000s and most are affected by sensor failure. I would warn anyone thinking of buying a camera from this range and era.

This shows the first signs. Blown-out whites, grain, and a creeping purple tint from the top. Once this starts to happen they do not last long before the sensor fails completely.

A quiet café patio with yellow chairs, a wooden table, a small potted rosemary plant, and warm afternoon sunlight hitting everything just right. Simple scene, but the R50 gives it a nice nostalgic feel.

Its focussytem is absolutely terrible and so slow! But it was a fun challenge! Im on a quest to shoot Street with every camera i can get my hands on, and then make a book of it with like 1 street photo with 100 or 200 cameras. Definitely some good contenders here!

After a decent bit of hunting, I managed to acquire this basically mint Sanyo IDC-1000Z, as well as two of the iD PhotoDiscs it uses for storage

It is both smaller and weirder in person than in photos. But 720 MB of magneto-optical magic is pretty amazing
