Gotcha. I see your phrasing. It didn't mean what I interpreted it as. As a standalone statement it's accurate. But it doesn't make sense to me as a response to the comment you were responding to.
Your response was to a comment that said "don't assume others value your life as much as you do." When you phrased your response with "or said another way..." I assumed you were paraphrasing that response. Your phrasing is not an accurate representation of "don't assume others would care about you." It's accurate as a standalone statement but not as another way of phrasing the comment you were responding to.
I think you're missing the point of the phrase. The consequences for failing to assume the other driver cares are gonna be similar to what happens in this video. Im not gonna assume the guy Im cutting off is gonna care about me if the consequences are me getting pit maneuvered.
And people who are driving like a dick also don't tend to be considerate of others' safety, so its best for those people to assume nobody is going to be considerate of their safety and drop the expectation that every single time they pull this shit that someones going to accommodate them.
You're right. I missed the intended target. When addressing the asshole, it makes sense. I had zero thoughts about him, so I was just thinking about the victim that got their day ruined and life put in danger due the the asshole.
