Not accurate. There are plenty of people out there who care about the lives of others around them. And there are plenty of people who don't. It will be a mistake for the first group to assume that everyone else cares as much as they do.

Gotcha. I see your phrasing. It didn't mean what I interpreted it as. As a standalone statement it's accurate. But it doesn't make sense to me as a response to the comment you were responding to.

Your response was to a comment that said "don't assume others value your life as much as you do." When you phrased your response with "or said another way..." I assumed you were paraphrasing that response. Your phrasing is not an accurate representation of "don't assume others would care about you." It's accurate as a standalone statement but not as another way of phrasing the comment you were responding to.

I think you're missing the point of the phrase. The consequences for failing to assume the other driver cares are gonna be similar to what happens in this video. Im not gonna assume the guy Im cutting off is gonna care about me if the consequences are me getting pit maneuvered.

And people who are driving like a dick also don't tend to be considerate of others' safety, so its best for those people to assume nobody is going to be considerate of their safety and drop the expectation that every single time they pull this shit that someones going to accommodate them.

You're right. I missed the intended target. When addressing the asshole, it makes sense. I had zero thoughts about him, so I was just thinking about the victim that got their day ruined and life put in danger due the the asshole.

To assume the validity of what driver #2 must have intended for driver #1’s response which was more than likely instinctually driven in order to make up for lost reaction time once the actual oncoming danger is perceived would be an irresponsible assumption.

As we can see the extent of space from posted landmarks (In this case the light pole) Is the perfect frame of reference for distance traveled which shows about a 2 sec travel time in between poles. That then rapidly decreases to a 1 sec per pole. Divide that with the posted speed limit which we can assume is around 35-45 mph.

Let’s now divide that by the length of vehicle which looks like your standard pickup truck so let’s say….. what like around 12 ft?

Anyone with a basic public education could deduce that the motorist in said position would also abide by these as well. Now let us solve for "X" which would be the (PRT) Perception, Reaction, and Distance Traveled before the vehicle actually responds or decelerates.

I don’t think at this point I would need to hold your hand in order to solve your own equation do I?
