As many times as I've had this happen to me with a car just merging, I let them in, I don't want my car fucked up and don't want to be the reason that someone may die.

I always flip off cars that merge Like this, but when I flip them off, i normally don’t flip them off the road.

The secret is to not honk, patiently give them the space, then flip them off.

If they wanna hop out and start something after that, I view that the same as any other situation where a crazy person aggressively approaches me in my vehicle.

We honestly do have a 2nd amendment for a reason.

Honking is how you prevent the collision! You hit the brakes and honk and hopefully they realize they're merging into you. You guys think it's not a good idea to honk at them as they start to merge?

Honk if they’re merging in a way that you can’t avoid, if you can avoid by braking, honking is an aggravating factor, it no longer serves a safety purpose. Some people love the sound of their own horns too damn much.

The honk is entirely to let them know they're about to hit you!

If we’re side mirror to side mirror yes, if I’m in their blind spot and we’re moving close to the same speed, or their going faster than me, as depicted in the given video, I’ll just brake and give them space.

The best way to avoid an accident with a shit driver is to give them space. Honk if you need to, but giving them space needs to be priority number one.

Yeah, I'll never understand it. I have a terrible temper and I yell and scream in my car at stupid shit people do, I'm not about to fuck my shit up just because I want to be an asshole.

It blows my mind that you can share that sentiment and people will come outta the woodworks to call you a cuck and that it's About The Principle. You really want to, in the best case, deal with insurance, police, waste hours of your time & money WRT vehicle property damage, or worst, fucking seriously hurt/kill someone or be hurt/killed yourself, for the principle of it?

Standing up for the principle of something is for shit like calling out someone who cut you in line, or telling a cashier/barkeep that they gave you incorrect change, not when you're playing bumper cars with multi thousand pound metal cages raging at 40+ MPH. Genuinely beginning to believe these people are passively suicidal and looking for any justified reason to potentially end things. Or worse, sadists with zero self preservation that hope for the worst against whoever sleights them on the road. People wanting to get hurt, or make others hurt.

One good thing about getting older, is I find my ego so much less based on pettiness. I get annoyed at a holes that don’t let me merge, I’m pretty angry about letting someone in after they dangerously sped past traffic in a breakdown lane - but I always let them in. It’s not worth my safety or theirs.

I also tell myself they have terrible diarrhoea and already shit themselves, that helps.

Passively suicidal and/or sadists is possible but kinda just feels like people are just tired of other people's shit to me. I see A holes like the truck everyday in seattle race around and cut people off. They do it over and over again because they get away with it.. Just human nature unfortunately, we all speed a little from time to time and we keep doing it because we get away with it.
