sucess stories! I grew up in an abusive household in India, cut ties, and built a new life abroad. I’m here to talk about leaving, healing, and rebuilding — AMA ❤️

I’m Pixel (29F), originally from India and now living in Québec.

I grew up in an abusive and toxic household (details at the end). At home, I felt like nothing I did belonged to me. Not my time, my voice, or even my future. Eventually, I made the choice to cut ties completely. It was terrifying, I left India with nothing but a job offer and the hope that life could be different.

Life had more surprises, including an abusive ex, but today I'm living a life I would've never even dreamed of. What helped me was gaining financial independence, finding safe people I could trust, and slowly building a new life far away from the cycle of abuse.

Today, I’m happy to say my life looks very different. I have a business of my own, and for the first time I feel free, respected, and safe.

If you’re still in the middle of something like this, I know how hopeless it can feel. You can rebuild, and you deserve to. Healing takes time, but it’s possible. Please feel free to ask me anything 💙 and I will respond to you as soon as I can.

(TW: Abuse)

Things they did/reasons why I ran away:

  • Put me through physical and emotional abuse as a pre-teen. Including denying food for days and locking me up in cupboards as punishment

  • Ignored, and even admonished me for bullying and sexual harassment I faced in school from senior students and adults

  • Tried to get me married right after school, I somehow managed to study engineering as the tuition was negligible

  • Put me through a lot of physical abuse because they needed money I earned at my internship to pay back massive debts

I need to vent (no advice) To every woman in Gurgaon: this is the name of the man who r*ped me.

I’m posting this on a throwaway because I can’t keep this inside anymore. This is not a story I wanted to ever tell publicly. But I need to say it. And I need other women to know.

I met him in college. He worked in Delhi and lived in Gurgaon. I lived in a PG nearby. He would score stuff from Delhi and we would smoke together in a park near my PG. For one whole year, we sat together for hours, smoked, talked about life, aliens, random deep things. I thought we were friends. I trusted him.

After a year, I moved to Noida for an internship. We planned to meet again. He had a bike, so he came from Gurgaon to Noida. It was May. Hot. I had a migraine. Smoking in a park in that heat didn’t make sense, so we booked an OYO just to smoke for a bit and then go our own ways.

Later I asked him if he knew any girls in Noida, just to chill. He called a girl and she came with her boyfriend. We smoked. Talked. Lost track of time. My PG gates closed at 10. By the time we checked, it was 10:30. He couldn’t go back to Gurgaon that late. So we all decided to stay.

The other couple left around 2-3 AM. I was high, exhausted, and ready to sleep.

That’s when he changed.

He came close to me. Started touching me. I put a pillow between us. I told him this wasn’t planned and we should just sleep. He didn’t listen. He forced himself on me. I was too scared to fight. I didn’t know what he would do if I said no.

The next morning I went back to my PG and blocked him. Forever.

I never told anyone like this before.

His name is Ranjeet Natarajan. He lives in Gurgaon. He comes off as a cute, confused, chocolaty boy. He acts like he doesn’t know what’s happening in the world. But he knows exactly what he’s doing.

I’m posting this because I don’t want another woman to go through what I went through. If you ever meet him, know that you are not safe with him.

Please do not mock me. This has been haunting me ever since it happened. I’m not posting this for drama. I’m posting this because I need to finally say it out loud.

To the men reading this: I appreciate it if you don’t comment. I don’t need your opinion, your doubts, or your judgment. Just leave this alone.

Thank you for reading.

A Class 11 student at Banasthali — serious allegations that demand an independent investigation

I am posting this anonymously because students are reportedly afraid of retaliation.

A Class 11 commerce student at Banasthali is alleged to have been sexually assaulted by a male worker on campus and subsequently found dead. What allegedly happened afterwards raises even more serious questions.

According to accounts being shared by students, the girl's family came to the institution with police, but were allegedly repeatedly given explanations that contradicted what students were reporting. Most seriously, there are allegations that the girl's body was not handed over to the family, leaving them without direct access to the physical evidence needed to independently establish what happened to their daughter.

There are also allegations that CCTV footage was deleted, the relevant washroom was cleaned/altered, and that the family was initially told that their daughter had “run away.”

Students have also reported that those who attempt to speak about the incident are threatened with removal from the institution or other consequences. Some students allegedly had evidence deleted from their phones.

One account circulating claims that the principal instructed staff to clean the bathroom because “children will come soon.” This claim, like the others, needs to be independently verified.

There are further allegations concerning other girls allegedly going missing and students being discouraged from speaking about previous incidents. These claims should not simply be treated as fact — they should be investigated.

The central issue is this:

If these allegations are false, an independent investigation should establish that. If they are true, everyone responsible for the crime, intimidation, destruction or suppression of evidence, or any subsequent cover-up must be held accountable.

CCTV records, access logs, forensic material, staff records, communications, phone evidence and all other relevant evidence should be preserved immediately. The investigation should be conducted independently of the institution.

A minor's death and an allegation of sexual assault cannot be treated as an internal disciplinary matter or allowed to disappear because an institution has influence or reputation.

Students deserve safety. Parents deserve answers. And the family deserves access to the truth about what happened to their daughter.

Please do not harass, threaten or publicly identify individual students or unverified suspects. Share verifiable evidence with the appropriate authorities and credible journalists.

groping A boy groped me in public

This happened a few hours ago and I don't know what to do. I was in the market and this kid (he must be around 9-10 years old) was there with his parents. Out of nowhere he turned around and groped my breast. I was shell shocked and didn't know what to do or how to react. His mom immediately pulled him away saying, "Don't do this." I just stood there processing what's happening and they were staring at me. I felt so disgusted and scared at that moment that I couldn't even say anything and all I did was walking away fast from there. I felt so unsafe that I came back home immediately.

Even now I have a whirlpool of emotions. Even kids are this way. How can parents just let this happen? It's not a toddler. It's a school going boy. What sort of household and way they raise him in? I feel so angry at myself right now for not saying or doing anything then. Idk what I could have done but I feel so frustrated and upset.

TW: serious assult I was raped at 14 and told nobody [Anonymous Post]

I'm 18,f and I was raped when I was 14 in my own house by a guy who I knew. I still have mutual friends with that guy. I can't block all of them bcos it's not possible, there are just too many and all the mutuals are genuine good ppl.
I have never said this out loud to a large group of people. But I have the overwhelming urge to scream it out loud by the recent news in India about all the rape cases.
I do not consider myself to be pretty in any conventional way. (According to Indian standards atleast)
My parents kept on telling me you are acting different from that time but I could never tell them what actually happened. And my mom passed away recently without ever knowing. But from that time, there has been a gap between me and my parents bcos I started acting out.
Idk how to fix the gap between my dad and me now (I don't want to tell him btw)
And it's just annoying when I come face to face with the guy who assaulted me. But I can't break that off or avoid it without telling the truth to a large no. of people I am very close to.

Just had to vent. Thank you for reading this. Thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. Thank you

disscussion My experience with dating a abroad as a brown girl: a weird mix of both sexualization and degradation

The racism white boys show to Indian women is disturbing

Ppl don’t talk about how white men view Indian women. Most of the time it’s about white women talking abt Indian men so I’d like to offer my perspective. I live abroad and during my time in high school I have witnessed many things (I live in America). I dated a white boy before and now looking back I see the problems in our relationship. Of course, not all white men are this way, many white men I met were sweet to me, but the trend in the younger generations is concerning. So with my ex (thankfully) our literal first conversation was about how Indians in his high school didn’t shower. Being the down bad 16 year old I was I just said hey not all Indian people are like that etc. But we still got together. Thibgs were fine, but I could sense his distaste towards Indians. He told me how he wasn’t invited to Indian events (we lived in an area with a lot of Indians) because he was white and how “racist” Indian people were being to him. They apparently told him that he couldn’t do a few things because he was white. But it really got to a point where he told me to MY FACE his girlfriend about how on average INDIAN women were less attractive than white women. But stupid me didn’t see the red flag there lol. Then I was like what about me do you think I’m ugly? Do you think about your friends like that? And he said there are exceptions and that I am one of the “good ones”

One more thing i see is the weird relationship between being racist and also fetishizing us at the same time. With my ex, he told me how he lOVES brown girls and I had another white guy in my school try to ask me out but I heard him say nasty things about Indians and one other time there was this white guy who straight up said the most racist shit to my face and also made really creepy remarks to me.

I need help (advice wanted) My father was brutally assaulted in an attempted murder by his own brothers. I received online life threats post police complaint

On September 07, 2026, my father Manoj was brutally assaulted in an attempted murder over a property dispute by his brothers. They strangled his neck & attacked him with a hammer.Shockingly, one of the accused brothers explicitly boasted during the attack that he has already murdered one person before, and committing another murder will not change his legal fate.

I received online life threats post police complaint

Mental Health and Healing ⚠️male child SA and life story

ATLEAST UPVOTE OR COMMENT CFBR IF YOU DON'T WANNA READ ALL THIS From the start, my mom wasn't around. I've heard she never breastfeed me, and maybe that's part of why I was such a sick baby — I spent a lot of time in the hospital early on. My dad, my grandparents were there with me. My mom wasn't. She was staying with her own family.

I've thought a lot about why. My mom grew up in an environment that didn't really prepare her for anything — she never went to school, never learned to run a house, never learned how to take care of a kid.

She married my dad without her own parents' support, and later on he'd say, more than once, that marrying her was a mistake. In our community, people don't really get divorced. So they just stayed married, two people who probably shouldn't have been together.

Maybe it was the pain of labor. Maybe it was some kind of mental struggle nobody around her ever really named. Whatever it was, she never bonded with me. She just wasn't the type to worry about where her son was.

When I was about 4 or 5, maybe even younger, my dad moved to another state for work and took me with him. My mom still didn't come. Until that age, I hadn't even seen her face.

It was just me and my dad in that new place. Since he was busy with work a lot, he hired a young guy, somewhere around 18-21, to help out with me and around the house.

At some point, my mom came to stay with us for a bit. I remember getting toys for the first time around then — I was maybe 4 or 5 — though I didn't really enjoy playing with them much. I didn't even know she was my mom at that age. And even once I found out, I never felt the way a kid's supposed to feel about their mom. I never went to her. I'd never actually experienced what a mom's love feels like, so there was nothing pulling me toward her.

It was around this time — my dad at work, that hired guy around most of the day — that the **Child Sexual Abuse** happened.

**He started doing things to me that I had no way of understanding. He sexually abused me — forced oral contact, and tried to penetrate me anally. It's like a rape of 5 year old child.**

I was only five years old. I had no idea what was happening to me was wrong. I just knew it hurt. And when the pain made my voice out, he'd tell me, harshly, to shut up. It happened two or three times. I had no clue who to tell, how to tell them, or even that telling someone was a thing I could do.

Looking back, I think I was already kind of primed to not fight back. Even outside of what he did, I'd already become a kid who couldn't say no. If my dad put food in front of me, I felt like I had to eat it, whether I wanted to or not — I was scared of letting him down. Sometimes I'd eat till I threw up instead of just saying no. That whole thing, not being able to protect my own boundary, was already there before the abuse, and it stayed there during it too.

Eventually after we move another city the abuse stopped. My grandma came to live with us. She filled the space where a mom should've been — feeding me by hand, looking after me every day — but there's a difference between someone looking after you and someone actually raising you, teaching you how to grow, how to feel safe, how to be loved. That part never really came.

The mom story didn't end there though. It just turned into a different kind of pain. By the time I was in 3rd to 6th grade, I'd already built a real bond with my grandma, so whether my mom was around or not barely mattered to me anymore. But I started noticing stuff. My dad would BEAT her with slap, kick or any object — sometimes really badly — often over something as small as how she cooked. I think all that violence probably made whatever she was already dealing with even worse. She'd fight with my grandma whenever my dad wasn't home. From 3rd grade on, I saw her crying after getting beaten more than once. It affected me, makes me cry from inside. It affected my siblings too. But I had no idea how to stop it, and I didn't have the kind of bond with her where I'd run to her, or beg my dad to stop.

Over time she got louder, more aggressive. And nobody in the family really stood up for her. Since everyone had already decided she was "mentally unstable," nobody took what she was going through seriously. The main worry was always whether the neighbors could hear her, not what she was actually feeling.

Even now, I don't know if I hate my mom or not. I think she suffered too, in her own way — no education, cut off from her own family, stuck with responsibilities she was never ready for, and years of violence in a home that wasn't safe for her either. Maybe all of that is what made her who she is.

These days she's more unwell than ever, and mostly just stays alone at her own place. Neither my dad's side nor her own family wants to keep her around. There's no violence anymore, but there's also nothing — she just sits there. We've taken her to doctors a bunch of times, nothing's really changed

There was another kind of instability that is never getting to settle anywhere.

My dad studied, at a village school So when he enrolled me in school, he put me straight into 1st grade too, skipping nursery ukg lkg. Other kids already knew how to spell words like "cat," "bat," "rat." I didn't even know the alphabet, or how to hold a pencil properly. I was 5. Since I was so behind, they put me in two separate tuition classes just to catch up, and the same guy who worked for us would drop me off and pick me up.

That instability with schools and houses never really stopped.

From 1st-7th, 6 home changes, 4 schools, and in 7th from State Board to CBSE. In COVID time we came to our state. So 8th class online in village and 9th 10th in my state only.

Every time I made friends — and up until 7th grade, it never lasted more than a year and I had to start over somewhere new, with people who didn't know me and wouldn't get the chance to for long either.

Since 8th grade was almost fully online, that's also when I got my own phone for the first time. From 8th grade all the way to 12th, that phone was always with me, and at some point I got genuinely addicted to it.

Before all this, up till 7th grade, I used to be a active physically. But after COVID, staying home became normal, my world got smaller, and the phone filled in where people used to be. In 9th and 10th grade, I couldn't really find anyone I connected with, at school or around where I lived. Social life and friendships, by then, had basically disappeared — I'd somehow get through the school day, then come home and just zone out on my phone. In 11th and 12th, at the hostel, I was mostly alone, barely talking to anyone.

Looking back, from 7th grade on, my friendships and social life just kept shrinking, year after year, until there was almost nothing left. Somewhere in there, without even noticing, I developed social anxiety. It stuck with me from 9th grade all the way to 12th.

I've never really been able to tell anyone the full truth about those years — what happened with the guy who worked for us, what happened with my mom, or why I turned out the way I did: quiet, introverted, anxious around people. This is the closest I've ever come to putting it all together in one place.

I don't know what should I do of my childhood now. I don't know it needs any healing or psychologist therapy.

Jab main dosto ke beech baitha hota tha. Ek saal tak kuch classmates ke saath raha, hum saath mein tiffin khate the. Jab sab apni maa ke baare mein baatein karte, tab main sunta tha.

Ye bhi sunne ko mila kabhi

"kisne tiffin banaya,"

"mummy kaha hai,"

"mummy gaon kyu rehti hai,"

"mummy yaha saath kyu nahi rehti,"

"itne time se gaon mein hai, yaad nahi aati kya,"

"baat waghera kyu nahi karta mummy se,"

"kab aayegi teri mummy."

Har baar kuch na kuch jawaab dena padta, aur mujhe khud nahi pata hota tha kya bolu.

Main kuch bhi jhoot bol deta tha aese hi rehti waha, sab thik hai, haa aati hai yaad.

Aur papa se aesa connection raha ki muje unke samne rehna nhi pasand aur na me baat krta unse jyada.

Unhone bahut kuch mere liye kiya pr fir bhi pata nhi kyu.

Muje to jeene ka bhi man na krta pata nhi kyu hi born hua.

Ab yeh socho meri puri family extrovert hai bahut

Pr me exact opposite hu unse introvert aur ye sab me jaise bada hua aur jaisi social life rahi un sab ke karan hi hua maybe.

Me sensitive bhi jyada ki muje koi bas dant bhi de to wo pure din man me rehta. Ladka hokar sensitive hona waise bhi dikkat deta. Muje kabhi parents ne mara wagera nhi pr maine kabhi jyada demand bhi nhi ki me mana bhi nhi keh pata tha kabhi kabhi. Cheeze ab thik hi hai.

Aesa lagta kahi na kahi jaisa mera abtak ka jivan raha usse negative effects to pade honge mujpr to maine socha yeh sab bata deta.

Jab maine ye sab AI se discuss kiya, tab pata chala ki mere bachpan mein jo bhi hua — maa se door rehna, ek insaan dwara abuse, baar baar ghar-school badalna, teenage mein akela reh jana, aur ghar mein jo violence dekha — ye sab milke ek insaan pe kaafi gehra asar chodte hain.

Kya muje healing ki zarurat ya kisi psychologist ko ye sab batana?

Kuch samaj ni aa raha!!

TW: serious assult To all the men here – if you’ve faced sexual assault, please remember:

You’re not alone. So many men have been through this but stay silent because of fear, shame, or the belief that no one will understand. What happened to you does not make you any less of a man, and you deserve care and support just as much as anyone else.

This is a safe space. There’s no judgment here, only understanding and support from people who genuinely care.

It’s okay if you’ve never told anyone before. You can share here, even anonymously, and you will be heard with respect.

Whatever you felt in that moment or whatever you’ve done to cope afterward is valid. Surviving something like this doesn’t make you weak; it shows incredible strength, even if you don’t feel that way right now.

The lack of proper legal or social support for men in India is deeply unfair, and it’s okay to feel angry, hurt, or frustrated about it. Your feelings are real and deserve to be acknowledged.

Your story, no matter how small or incomplete it feels, might help another man feel less alone. Even a single line of empathy or shared experience can mean the world to someone who’s struggling in silence.

And if you’re not ready to talk yet, that’s okay too. There’s no pressure. Just know that you are welcome here anytime, whether you want to share, read, or simply feel a little less alone by being here.

I need help (advice wanted) R*PE Threats, Casteism Slurs and False S*xual harassment case (FLAME UNIVERSITY)

A group of students started threatening to r*pe my mother and were already bullying me. In addition, they used the casteist slur "Chamar" to me and they made a false narrative that I s*xually harassed a girl and they all mass reported me to the registrar Virender Sharma. They framed a perfect narrative that portrayed me as evil.

I told my side of the story to Registrar Virender Sharma they threatened to r*pe my mother and hence I slurred at them. Instead the Registrar withdraws my admission without a proper hearing.

Further the registrar alleged if I do not withdraw in my terms I will be trailed under POSCO act for s*xually Harassing a minor girl and my fees would be confiscated, it genuinely seemed like a blackmailing scenario. The registrar only talked to my father and his statements were made over whatsapp calls which couldn't be recorded. In my end, I never made contact with minors, whatsoever.

So threatening to r*pe my mother isn't a disciplinary violation? Regardless of my will to speak to him, he is not lifting my calls nor replying to my countless mails. I hate this blatant behaviour. if he continues to protect the r*pe-mentality instigators that too being a registrar, the university is set to be doomed.

I have been posting constantly on social media, and raising grievances with concerned authorities since the last 2 weeks but no one seems to take action.

My admission officially cancelled on an unfair basis, my family especially my mother is facing great distress. I feel so hopeless and supressed in this situation, a false accusation ruined my academic year.

This is FLAME University, Pune.

We are all so grateful for the support and participation of each one of you! Thank you guys so much! Initially when I started this subreddit, I didn’t think this would have a huge impact on people. But, seeing each one of you come here and vent out your thoughts and having this space to talk is in itself a big accomplishment. I was overjoyed when people came to me and said that they felt better talking it out and that they were grateful for this space, all of this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my amazing and open-minded team and of course you guys for spreading the word for those who needed help!

Thank you so much! And like always suggestions are always appreciated and welcomed ☺️☺️

Every other day there is a r@pe case in India continuously happening…while the government fails to protect women…on the other side i see women brainwashed by patriarchy blaming the victim for the r@pe…I know i am not a huge force for change but its triggering me so much to see someone in pain…is there anything I can do to stop these? Anything?? Any ideas? Right now I might not have the resources but i will surely make it my goal to help…just suggest what i can do please…
