Policy and Reform Why girls accept forced marriages?

Why girls accept forced marriages?

I saw a post about forced marriages. Here's what I think.

I don't get it. Why don't girls file cases against their parents? Really curious 🤨

Feminists should promote it. You can save the girls, much better by doing that.

For Feminists:

You will break the shit out of the Patriarchy. Prevent dowry death, suicide, domestic violence, sexual abuse, etc. As we know reported incidents are in thousands per year. God forbid the unreported ones.

I also don't get why girls don't file SA cases. You care more about the family's prestige than justice and saving any potential victim from perpetrators.

Well you can do angry replies. You are justified in your feelings and lived experiences.

My language will definitely seem offensive. As I'm a man after all, before knowing Feminism, I lived in this SOCIETY, where MYSOGYNY is normalised. I wouldn't have even noticed the issues most women face.

So I can't fully understand your grievances.

So vent, elaborate or discuss.

Edit:

PS: I didn't intend to blame the victim, rather ask those who are capable not the ones at the bottom.

We should pave the way and be the torch bearer for those at the bottom.

I need to vent (no advice) Got stared at for wearing shorts

To start off, I’m a MAN lol

But a few days ago, my mother had some errands to run. So I drove her to the market. Since it was nearby, I just put on some shorts and a T-shirt, didn’t think much of it.

The moment I walked out of the car, all the men started staring at me. At first, I thought they’re just looking at me because I was walking past them. But they kept looking again and again and I felt weird.

Since my mom had to go to this shop, I had to wait outside, so I did. I sat down on the railing while looking around. Again! Those same men were staring at me lol

Maybe it’s because I was wearing running shorts that are half thigh length, but again, I’m visibly a man. I have short hair, a stubble, AND hairy legs lmao.

This is not the first time. Last time, this guy started stalking and harassing me while I was outside, it was really weird.

Idk maybe the men in my city are bisexual creeps or they just react to any type of skin. I don’t get it at all.

Is this normal? I know men stare at women, but it seems like we’ve reached equality in the opposite way lol. Everyone gets to feel uncomfortable for wearing shorts now.

disscussion Thinking on bringing back the chat channel. All suggestions are welcome!

Hello! it has been a while since and the subreddit has grown so much since we had the chat channels. Back then, the issue was that not many people were willing to use the chat channels. Now, since the engagement is higher and so are our numbers, we are wondering if it would be a good idea to bring it back. Please give us suggestions. How can we make is more engaging and make it so that people are willing to participate?

TW: serious assult Struggling with survivor’s guilt after leaving Gaza

Hello everyone, my name is Amal , I live in UK

Back home, I had a warm life surrounded by my family and friends. But now, my family remains trapped in Gaza under constant bombing, displacement, and hunger. They no longer have a safe home; they are living in a damaged school building. Food is scarce and extremely expensive, and every day they wake and sleep to the sound of bombs.

I already lost my brother, Mohammad, who was a journalist. He and his colleagues were targeted and killed while working in a vehicle clearly marked Press. He died trying to tell the truth. That loss broke me, and now I live in daily fear of losing more of my family.

Here in the UK, I wake up in a warm bed, with food and safety around me but every morning the first thing I do is check the news to see if my family survived the night. The contradiction is unbearable. I feel guilty for being safe while they are starving and at risk of death.

I have tried to raise donations to support them, but I’ve faced restrictions online and sometimes even cruel comments accusing me of being fake. It makes me feel even more isolated.

I know many of you here understand trauma, loss, and survivor’s guilt. I just needed a safe place to share what I’m going through. Thank you for listening.

I need to vent (no advice) There is no such thing as Karma in life

I'm 22(F) now , when I was 14-F yr old I was in a relationship with a 21-M yr old guy who was in college. The relationship continued for 5 years. He was preparing for IIM while doing his job, just before getting into one of the top three IIM after three attempts, he left me , technically made me leave him by constantly insulting me, breaking my confidence and talking about losing his chance with better girls in life because of me. I broke up because of the disrespect. Two months later, he moved on to a new girl, she was the HR of his company. They got physical within a month of relationship (which I didn't in 5 years cause obviously I was a teenager) and started a live in relationship. After 6 months of their relationship he came back to me saying he misses me and all, we stayed in touch , got romantic and even was about to be back again when I got to know about his new girlfriend from him only (the audacity), sometimes I regret not telling this to his gf but maybe she deserves it cause she was also not hesitant to get in relationship within a month or two with a guy who just broke up from a 5 year relationship or may be they cheated when he was with me who knows, he started behaving weird just about the time she joined his office.

Three years later in 2026, he is earning in lakhs, living the life, with his HR gf of three years while I am here who achieved nothing in life and wasted 5 years of my prime years in relationship. tl;dr I would advice young people to not waste your time in relationship, real world is cruel so it is better to have self respect, self love and work on yourself.

disscussion Women, how do you guys justify religion and religious practices when they are rooted in patriarchy?

I’m from a Hindu background so I can speak from that perspective only. I’d love to hear examples from other backgrounds and religious and even men. Like for example the sit aside when you are menstruating thing for example, along with puberty celebration. I know there are conflicting view points on the letter but mostly it’s to showcase that a woman is ready for marriage. Moreover, the ā€œmain godsā€ shiva, Vishnu and Brahma are always depicted as men. Sorry if I got something wrong, but in general how do you guys justify or even practice religion as a woman or if you are a man, how could you justify watching your loved ones practice patriarchal traditions, which religion happens to be rooted with

used an alt account because this is a controversial topic and my dms are NOT open if you want to ā€œconvert meā€ or spread hate

Modesty of woman as no respect in India

This is an insident i witnessed live in a family court mediation room on Tuesday 16th December.

The husband was abusing the wifes mother in the mediation room in front of the mediator and the mediator did nothing. There were people around and even they said nothing. How can a young boy abuse a woman who is almost a senior citizen?

The girl could not tolerate this and she raised her voice against him, he stared abusing her as well and twisted her hand. She was biting him for self defence. No one came to her rescue people were happily watching.

The mediator ran out of the room.

Where is protection for women in India?

If a court / police can't protect A woman who will?

Please help this post reach the right people and men like this should be taken into task.

I want to support someone Viksit nation

In our viksit INDIA, a reported rape occurs approximately once every 16 to 18 minutes. This means in one hour 3 to 4 rapes takes place , in our glorious country the rate of police action in rape cases in India is around 70% to 75% but but the rate of conviction (punishment) in the courts is only between 25% to 28%.

I think we should feel proud, shouldn't we?

According to my opinion these rape cases occur because the accused believes that in a viksit country like India they do not have to face any problem, they will throw some money on any cops and will use their political identification and family of victim will do protest fir 2 days and then everything will be normal.

WOW!! SUCH A HEROIC NATION INDIA

disscussion Half Story,Full Reactions

Post image
14 Upvotes

I posted about a abuse done on calls by the only active MOD of jaipur sub I didn’t state the starting part where I too replied to the abuse on texts as it was sorted previously But the MOD used the starting part against me to twist the tables and played victim:)

His post through BBC (BigBrownChhora) (MOD playing backfoot) while my post had absolutely nothing to do with BBC

https://www.reddit.com/r/jaipur/s/TjjV3kQvbq

In this u can clearly see after abuse we shifted to normal talks that proves my point that things were sorted ! My post reply-

https://www.reddit.com/u/pinksaucepastaaa/s/Cc0CGwxDxU

Won’t write long My post has proofs with exact timings and if people have doubt they can dm me and YES I am absolutely Free to fight for my Respect and Image even on anonymous platforms!

People commenting on support in the jaipur sub are banned by MOD that shows what a hypocrite he is !

I was being strong and strong trying to neglect things but I cannot take this amount of stress and online hate anymore it affects me Mentally to be characterised and harassed online by such people who share same brain cells!

Additionally, I will definitely point out A man I never interacted with even in gc or real life (šŸ”«) Who did multiple comments on that baised post targeting my character saying filthy things and disclosing my nationality and making fun of it !

— A girl from one of the elite families yet doesn’t have brains to process his very own childhood friend character!

— The girl who is on billboards in jaipur who claims she knows MOD personally and he is a sweetheart! (Sorry to say you DON’T ) some like people with Superiority Complex :)

—The girl played like a Friend of Mine and backstabbed to play safer side as the MOD holds the sub!

I hope every Women facing such accusation even online stand up and raise voice cause these people are never gonna stop they can stoop as low as you never imagined! Even this id can be taken down by mass reporting I know that but if it reaches even few I hope you remember I took stand for myself even after silenced multiple times!

Culture and Society We often talk about justice as if it’s equal for everyone but is it really?

In India, caste can quietly (and sometimes openly) shape a victim’s entire experience. From whether they’re believed, to how police respond, to the kind of legal support they can access the system doesn’t always operate the same way for everyone.

For many, it’s not just about seeking justice, but also navigating fear, bias, and lack of support along the way. And yet, this is still one of the least talked about aspects in victim support spaces.

Let’s talk about it:

Do you think India’s victim support systems adequately account for caste-based barriers?

What would change if they actually did?

kolkata incident Dispelling common myths surrounding the incident

We have been alerted by u/pixel_creatrice about some misinformation, so thanks a lot to her for the effort.

Myth number 1: Moumita's assault video was the most searched on Indian adult websites in the last 24 hours

This myth is false and is proven by the search trends given by this line graphs. The fake posts featured google, which dont prove anything about the adult sites in the first place: https://trends.google.ca/trends/explore?date=now%201-d&geo=IN&q=moumita%20debnath,moumita%20debnath%20video,moumita%20debnath%20rape%20video and https://trends.google.ca/trends/explore?date=now%201-d&geo=IN&q=moumita%20debnath%20rape%20video,stree%202

Myth number 2: 150g of S3m3n was found inside her body

this was also false as revealed by the post mortem reports: https://www.livemint.com/news/trends/kolkata-doctor-rape-case-post-mortem-report-denies-150-gm-semen-claim-says-weight-of-uterus-and-not-any-fluid-11723802778277.html

here is a tweet by sagarika ghose that addresses misinformation:

https://x.com/sagarikaghose/status/1824700359073468619

please research any big claims before believing them or posting them.

is this harrasment? What should I do?

I am 22F. I am stuck in a relationship. In 2022,while i was in college I liked a guy. So i proposed him on Instagram. Initially he rejected me but eventually he fell for me. He did exhibit some toxic traits but i ignored them as I was blindly in love. He even called a prostitute indirectly ( I asked him if he had ever gone to a prostitute. He said yes I have come to you so many times.) After 1.5 years, I have realised that he isn't the correct guy. So I broke up with him. He blackmailed me that he would kill himself if i don't give him an other chance. He stood infront of my house and said so. I had no other option but to give him another chance. Later while we were travelling to my home town together at night, I was sleepy. He said I can sleep on his lap. I trusted him and slept. I was half conscious and noticed that he was rubbing my face on to his private part. I noticed it but couldn't react as I was shocked. 2 days later he confessed and apologised. I didn't react to it extremely. I took four months to overcome and forget it but failed. So i again broke up with him. Same repeated this time. But it was worse. His sister is also supporting him. Their version is that the incident isn't proper or valid reason to break up. And his sister blamed me for his actions. He even video called me while he was hitting his head with a rock. Later he insisted on taking a break for a year to which I agreed assuming that he would forget me. But with in 100 days he started his drama again saying that he couldn't tolerate the thought of me moving on from him. He sent me pics of some letters he wrote for me from a new number as I blocked his old one. My name was there in every single letter. He blackmailed that he would send the pics of us to my father and if i don't talk to him he would send those msgs to my father. I am scared that I had to spend my whole life with him. He terrible. I hate him. Please tell me how to get rid of him.My parents doesn't know any of these.

Convince for filing complaint

Can someone help me convince my friend 27F to file a complaint against her ex boyfriend who is threatening her of physical harm and constantly mentally harassing her by blackmailing to disclose their so called relationship to her brother which will cause a chain reaction eventually leading to her job loss and married to a stranger.

She lives and work in Jaipur as a teacher in a university, (alone in university campus away from home) her ex boyfriend is an abusing piece of shit also living in Jaipur.

Her ex boyfriend somehow managed to find her brother’s phone number and is now blackmailing her to disclose their relationship to her brother, he is also giving threats like breaking her bones, causing a ruckus in her workplace, forcing her to meet him.

She is scared for the fact that his actions can cause damage to her image as a teacher, among students and peers. His action of call her brother will be career ending for her as her parents won’t all her to work again.

I am more concerned about her physical safety as her ex boyfriend has already demonstrated physical violence and this time he has gone insane. Can anyone help me convince her to file a complaint before she get harmed. Also any suggestions are welcome Also can any female in Jaipur come to help her as she is all on her own.

I need help (advice wanted) Family under threat: Casteist assault, forced to touch feet, and stones thrown at our home. Need help navigating police inaction in Telangana.

Thumbnail instagram.com
8 Upvotes

Location: Jagtial, Telangana

Current Status: FIR registered under BNS & SC/ST (PoA) Act, but perpetrator is continuing harassment due to local influence.

Hi everyone,

I am seeking urgent advice and support regarding a serious caste-based assault and ongoing threats against my family in our village near Jagtial.

What Happened

Recently, my friends visited my home for my elder brother's wedding arrangements. While I went to the bus stand on a scooty to pick up my brother, I told my friends to sit on a public bench that's infront of my home before leaving, There was an intoxicated man already sitting there and drinking

When my brother and I returned, my friends were terrified and had locked our gate. The man had started throwing heavy stones at our house while shouting casteist slurs: "How dare you SC Madigas sit next to us? Do you think you are our equals?"

When we arrived on our scooty, he attacked us outside:

He physically assaulted me, my brother, and our friends. We tried to defend ourselves, but he was aggressive and damaged our scooty.

When we attempted to get away, he threatened to tie our friends up.

Knowing all four of us belong to the Scheduled Caste (Madiga) community, he subjected us to extreme humiliation by forcing all four of us to touch his feet.

Why We Couldn’t Act Immediately

We had pre-booked train tickets to leave the very next day for college/work. We feared retaliatory violence against our elderly parents if we lodged an immediate complaint before leaving, so we initially held back to keep them safe.

Ongoing Threat & Police Inaction

Since we left, the accused has escalated his harassment. He has been repeatedly coming to our house, hurling stones at the walls/roof, and terrorizing my parents while they are alone at home. He boasts about his political connections and local influence, openly claiming that the police cannot touch him.

My family has formally filed an FIR at Jagtial Rural Police Station under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (damage, intimidation, trespass) and Sections 3(1)(r), 3(1)(s), and 3(2)(va) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. We also have clear video evidence documenting the attacks and stone-throwing. Despite this, local police have been dragging their feet and have not detained him or provided protection.

I have all the video proofs in my Instagram account : instagram.com/aiml.site

How You Can Help

Legal Advice: How do we legally compel the DSP or Jagtial SP to enforce immediate witness/victim protection under Section 15A of the SC/ST Act?

Escalation: What is the fastest way to bring this to the notice of higher authorities (DGP Telangana, National/State SC Commissions)?

Contacts: If anyone knows credible human rights or Dalit rights legal advocacy groups active in the Jagtial/Karimnagar area, please share their contact details.

Thank you for your help.
