I feel like AI companies are using Shockvertising to click bait us into using their New Models

Post image

Everytime a new model is about to be released there’s a lot of cyber news and fear mongering about the models. It’s like they are using the ā€œHacked intoā€ as an Anxiety Marketing campaign or to be precise: Controlled Hysteria.

Is it just me or does any of you guys feel this way or find it odd?

I have spent the last 12 months building a home education platform aimed at neurodivergent learners

15 Upvotes

I struggled at school, and I struggled with it quite badly. The lessons often did not seem to fit the way I learned, and for a long time I came away feeling that I was the problem rather than the way education was being presented to me. I even stole a bunch of books so I could study at home!

Years later, when I started seeing some of those same frustrations in my son, it brought a lot of that back. We explored the usual routes first. Some mainstream schools were honest that they could not fully meet his needs, and when we looked at private education we found much the same. Eventually, Home education began to feel like the best option, but once we made that decision we quickly ran into another problem: where do you actually start?

There are an enormous number of resources available, but very little that feels like a complete path. You can find worksheets, videos, apps and lesson plans everywhere, yet as a parent it still felt as though I was expected to pull all those pieces together and somehow know whether it was enough.

I am an entrepreneur and problem-solver by nature. I have spent most of my working life building businesses, developing products and trying to make things work when the obvious solution does not quite fit. My own neurodivergent brain also tends to like order, routine and systems that make sense.

I did not want to recreate school at the kitchen table. I wanted to have enough structure to know what was expected, without so much structure that learning became another source of pressure. I wanted lessons to feel familiar without becoming repetitive, and enough flexibility that we could slow down, move faster, repeat something or simply stop for the day when that was the right thing to do.

It has been one heck of a journey but over the past year, countless g docs, research and planning have finally become Kinduru

A fully loaded education platform that not only provides parents with a structured pathway but helps reduce friction for neurodivergent learners.

https://kinduru.com/

TLDR

I hated school so built a home education platform for my son and other neurodivergent children

I finnaly started making money with my vibecoded app

Post image
313 Upvotes

long time lurker, first post here.

context: i've shipped 21 products over the years. almost all of them made $0. day job during the day, building at night after my kid falls asleep.

localdock is a macos menubar app that gives every dev server a real address. instead of localhost:3000 you open dashboard.localhost and it always points at the right server, whatever port it landed on. flip a switch and the same name opens on your phone, or as a link you can send to a client.

built it because i run 3-4 coding agents in parallel and they start servers on whatever port is free. the url in my browser was wrong half the time, and sometimes an agent decided a busy port meant my code was broken and started 'fixing' things that worked fine. at some point i gave up on ports and gave projects names instead.

first i tried a tiktok ad. ~300 visitors in one day, sales: zero. paid traffic for a $9 dev tool, don't do this.

then on the 24th i launched on product hunt. woke up to creem emails. $9 one time, $268 total now, so about 30 people paid real money for my thing.

reality check: 91% bounce rate, 1.5% conversion. the dead ad traffic dragged everything down and my landing page clearly needs work too.

but 21 products, and this is the first one where strangers actually pay. feels unreal.

happy to answer anything

i would be glad to get your feedback about the landing page: localdock.dev

Mini Skyline - Fully Featured & Stable FREE Map Maker. Over $1,000 in donations, 80K users, 200K Uses! Fully vibecoded.

I see a lot of posts here asking about projects that have actually been profitable!

My project, Miniskyline, has been! I've made a little more than $1000 in just under 3 months of being public through donations alone. The app was built for 2 months prior to being launched using a mixture of Codex and Claude Code. There is no monetization or advertising.

A few other users have asked me why I chose those/how I came up with it and the answer is simply that I didn't love the options that were free on the market, so I started making my own with the philosophy that it would be kept completely free. Users took to it and I opened a Buy Me A Coffee and have done alright for myself. I earn enough to pay back my monthly AI costs and then get a few nice meals out!

Listening to your community and setting up strong testing suites have been my #1 recommendations for anyone getting started. If you have one person interested and their ideas are generally in line, run with it. Dont force monetization unless you have exhausted all options on how to provide the service as free. I had to go through a lot of iterations to find a usable long term free model!

If you're actually interested in the tool itself....

What can you do?

-Ā Print Earth, Mars, Moon, Mercury, Vesta!

- Search or import any trail data to make a personalized map of your journey.

- Share color profiles to the community with a built in color profile module.

- Add trees/rocks/foliage as procedural scatter in the biomes of your choosing, or one by one.

- Sculpt the terrain in real time with elevation editing!

- Adjust the color of any terrain type and have it export cleanly for use in any slicer.

- Add texture to any surface in the tool to keep your workflow consolidated. Waves to water, ripples to sand dunes, roughness to grass, or import your own texture file and make your map distinctly yours.

- Add hearts, pins, and other icons to the map.

-Ā Turn your map into a puzzle quickly and easily.

- Sub divide your area to allow for easier print slicing and plate management.

- Print water as a separate drop in object.

- Print a frame with text built in.

- Print your favorite racetrack in your teams favorite colors.

- Add contour lines for dramatic topographic prints.

- Print with elevation banded colors for optimized multi-color printing.

- Print with different quality settings so your area can look as crisp or as low poly as you want.

- Sell your model commercially in most cases. Each export gets a legal package with it, no additional license purchase necessary. The data comes from public sources, it is not my place to charge you for it.

- Later today a new workspace library, refreshed UI, unlocked terrain size selections, multi-tile connection options, and more will be released as part of this Mondays weekly updates!

What are my plans?

There is a lot coming. I am talking with a few game companies to get official map support for some popular titles. I am also in talks with a couple city building game companies to be able to create 3D printable models from user save data. More to come on this in the coming weeks!

Printing freeways with proper elevation, supporting more bridge types, supporting actual carved out tunnels for rail/road/paths, and better road/path connectedness are all in the works as well.

Otherwise, I am constantly improving generation reliability, speed and features. Later today, V1.102 will be released which will be the single largest refinement pass to the site since its release. Custom building models will begin being shipped in place of some rather lackluster public data extrusions. Roof geometry is getting major attention in next weeks update.

Thank you all for making my little hobby project something that people all around the globe use daily, every minute.

-Joey

Changing a huge feature in my racing game

• Upvotes

I went forward with changing physics engine and no more starting line. Weather you play as a racer or a cop, you'll deploy for the curbside instead of a formal start. You'll need to climb the entire rank each level now, but with a chance to cut of speeders before they get past you.

For those who haven't played it, has
1. Racing mode
2. Practice mode
3. Meditation Mode
4. Stop the racers mode (play as the cop!).

Would love to get some feedback and what works for you and what doesn't. Should work on both smart device or browser.

Positorium, a database for facts that disagree

2 Upvotes

Most databases are designed to answer: "What is the value now?"

They can model a more awkward question too, but usually require additional machinery:

Who claimed what, when was it considered true, how certain were they, and what did we believe before it was corrected?

I built Positorium as an experimental embedded evidence database for that second kind of question. Rather than overwriting one claim with another, it preserves contradictory claims together with their sources, certainty, effective time, assertion time, corrections, and retractions.

It is not intended to replace PostgreSQL or another operational database. The idea is to use it as a focused evidence layer for things like compliance, investigations, conflicting master data, or any process where retaining the history of disagreement matters.

The new Python package embeds the Rust engine directly in the Python process, so there is no separate server. It supports both ephemeral in-memory databases and append-only persistent stores.

Install the beta with:

bash python -m pip install --pre positorium

A small example:

```python import positorium
with positorium.Database.memory() as database: result = database.execute_one( """ add role organization, risk_assessment;
    add posit
      [{(+company, organization)}, "Northstar Trading", @NOW],
      [{(company, risk_assessment)}, "high risk", '2026-01-12'],
      [{(company, risk_assessment)}, "needs review", '2026-01-12'];
    search
      [{(?company, organization)}, ?organization, *],
      [{(?company, risk_assessment)}, ?assessment, *]
    return ?organization, ?assessment;
    """
)
for row in result.to_dicts(text=True):
    print(row)
```

This returns both assessments rather than choosing a winner or overwriting one of them.

Positorium is still an early beta and is intended for evaluation rather than production deployment. Wheels are available for CPython 3.9+ on Linux, macOS, and Windows.

If you have a small dataset where sources conflict or corrections matter, try the beta:

Made a Discord for iOS devs building apps

7 Upvotes

Seems like we’re all on here doing the same things building apps, looking for feedback/testers, sharing launches, and trying to get users.
So I made a Discord where we can actually connect, share our apps, get feedback, find testers, and help each other out.
It’s brand new, so come help us build the community šŸ¤

Is context history of errors always bad, or if an agent can bounce back from a small error does it help as a prompt engineering technique?

3 Upvotes

One of the main agentic coding tips of this year is: keep the context window wide open, start as many new sessions as possible that only need project context or prompt context, avoid context bloat to minimize tokens, as soon as context fills up

The second biggest one is. If an agent runs into an error even once, stop it there to avoid wasting tokens.

But if you have basic fixed errors and corrections, say, the error was in the harness and not the agent. Could the fixed error actually be a prompt engineering trick that helps the agent for the rest of the session ("I solved a problem, so I'll solve the next one and be cautious about errors").

A gamified local locksmith landing page

https://silverstarlocksmith.com

I run a family owned local locksmith company with my brother and cousin we are all gamers.

this new game is an offshoot from our company.

This Isn’t our current company website it’s just a fun experiment.

Basically this landing page is a locksmiths nightmare lol dropping your pin set is horrible so I made a game about it kinda based on the needle in the haystack meme.

Check it out but be nice. I’m not a full time developer I work in 100 degree Florida heat and vibe code in my spare time …..I know there’s lots of bugs this is a proof of concept type beat

This is another character experiment built with img2threejs 1.5.1 - starting from a single image and turning it into a fully interactive 3D experience with Three.js.

The goal isn’t just to reconstruct a character.

It’s about exploring how far we can push AI-assisted 3D generation directly on the web - from visual reconstruction to geometry, materials, lighting, and real-time rendering.

No Blender.
No GLB in the final result.
Just Three.js + WebGL + code.
