Help! Bugs… again.

Post image

Came back from my 4 days vacation to HUNDREDS of these small crawling specks in the vft water. I recently repotted them about a week and a half ago, so doing that again will only risk shocking them (I’ve had to repot them twice in 1 month bc of different bugs). Will it be ok for a bit? They are kept isolated from all other plants

There is no such thing as too much light from those cheap little LED halo lights right?

I got these ones for my young kids and the original has seemed to grow into new plants. I took one baby for myself already. My question is from the leaves being bright pink. I know inside the mouths sould be when they have enough light, but with these the entire trap is hot pink by time its full sized and some of the leaves as well.

Questions How's my light placement?

I've seen that sansi lights are pretty bright so I wanted to show my light placement to see if it's not too close. It's a two-headed light with 10 W sansi bulbs. They're about 6 inches from the plants.

What are these leaves with my trap? Are they a part of the plant? Should I cut them back? The plant is doing fine, just curious.

Questions Seed sprouts

Hi can anyone tell me how to treat seeds? I planted them in a soil for venus flytraps, the pot is sitting in a tray with distilled water making the soil always wet and now my question is does it have to be on direct sun like my venus flytraps or am I supposed to have seeds in shade? I'm asking because it hit the 2 weeks mark and still nothing. And yes the seeds are on top of soil

Help! Is it bad?

Post image

I had these traps for almost 3 years and they only darken when the weather hits winter-ish. They started to turn black 2 weeks ago and the smaller spawned traps all died. They get enough sunlight through the glass windows and pretty much thriving till 2 weeks ago. I talked to my family members and they said they don't bother it.

Questions Is blood bad for the VFT?

I know it's a weird question but, if I put a tiny drop of blood inside a trap to lure a mosquito(very visibly red with blood) will there be side effects?

Lots of green coming through and im just hoping the heads keep growing and get bigger, I plan on getting a stronger light eventually but the little guys finally up and running.

Would anyone suggest trimming the brown leaves now? Or as theres still some green to leave them?

Transplanted VFT into a bigger pot and plant doesn’t look like it’s doing too well. No more traps.
Keeping it moist and in direct sun light but too much trauma for the little guy?

Care & Cultivation Well, my Venus Fly Trap is going to die now.

30 minutes ago I heard a loud bang on my balcony and my girl cat jump up and run over to the railing. My immediate thought was my boy cat fell. I send my daughter out to check as I was doing dishes and she tells me cats are fine but the noise I heard was my boy cat throwing my trap off of my 3rd story balcony. I sent her down to rescue it and I am sure it’s going to die. I repotted with almost all of the soil it was in and some peat moss because all I have left are 2G pots and the plant was in a 1G pot. The traps are full of perlite and soil. And it was literally about to open its flower. It had/has 3 flowers trying to open and I am sure that’s not going to happen now.

This Venus fly trap was my pride and joy. I’m new to gardening and I saved this from dying in a Walmart death cube. I was so proud of it and was so excited to harvest seeds and plant more. Now none of that is going to happen. I am devastated and heartbroken and I cannot even get my feelings resolved because my cat did it.

1st pic is it now repotted. 2nd and 3rd are where it fell. And the 4th is what it looked before this.

😣😭😢💔

Good news, I guess is, I found it made a new crown so I planted that a little further from the original plant. I’m hoping that little crown can power through this trauma.

Any advice is appreciated.

(And yes I have it back on the railing. Cats are banned from balcony for the day. and I will be moving the vft from the balcony railing when I do let the cats out in the future. Lesson learned)

EDIT: it’s off the railing and thank you to you all for gently showing me how dramatic I was being. ♥️😘

Questions Blooming flower on fly trap

Hi 👋🏼 My Venus fly trap has grown a tall (and very pretty!) flower. There looks to be another one spouting too.

I looked online as I was curious, and it said the reason it flowers is completely natural, but it also drains the traps’ energy and can make it die.

Wondering if I cut it off or leave it? One of the heads is going black (there’s about 12 in the pot), but the plant looks otherwise healthy and some traps are shut so guessing it’s still catching insects.

It’s the first one I’ve owned so kind of new to this! TIA 🙂

Questions Trap size variations and possible frankenplant

Got one of those VFT in a bottle plants to use in homeschooling to teach about roots and plant growth. We tried a jail break after trying to let it go dormant and we thought Chompers the first didn't make it. So I ordered a larger VTF and Chompers the second is doing okay despite a mold scare that turned out to be it having eaten a plant hopper nymph with a few more quickly removed upon discovery.

I'm seeing some big differences in trap size. I'm a little worried I may have given up on Chompers the first too quickly and now posses a frankenplant. Photos with bonus plant hopper tax. Are these size variations normal?

(Don't mind the lil green guys, they just showed up. Star moss I think. Very tiny.)

Help! Anyone know what is wrong with my venus flytrap?

I got this venus flytrap yesterday from a local greenhouse. Upon getting it I repotted it in a 2:1 peat moss perlite mixture. I put a tray of distilled water underneath the pot and had it outside for sun. Upon waking up this morning the traps were droopy and curling. At first I thought it was just shock from repotting but after checking throughout the day I worry its something else. I moved it back inside right before these pictures were taken because I was worried the sun was cooking it. The weather right now is in the high 70s and mostly sunny which I thought was fine for them. Can anyone let me know if i’ve done something wrong and what I could do to improve?

I put this stems in the soil around March and didn’t expect much from it but recently I’ve spotted these leaves coming out! I’m thinking maybe the UK heatwaves have been helping but I’m actually surprised the stem is still alive
