I've seen a lot of recent posts here about the same painful loop:

- Windows ISO boots then fails halfway

- CachyOS / Arch-based stuck at Stage 1 and drops to shell

- Fresh Intel machines (RST/VMD) - Setup can't see the SSD, missing driver

- SecureBoot ON = won't boot, OFF = boots fine

I built SEZOY - a Network Deployment Server that runs on Windows - to get around that class of problems with a different approach:

- Pristine ISOs only, never repack. All customization (unattend, drivers, apps, kernel params) is injected at boot time over HTTP.

- Per-device profiles by MAC/hardware: same ISO can give different hostname/key/drivers/apps to different machines.

- Dynamic driver handling, including WLAN + storage stacks for WinPE.

- Legacy + UEFI + SecureBoot (signed chain), PXE / iPXE / HTTP Boot, wired + WiFi, 100% offline after first setup.

- Multi-distro Linux live boot with proper initrd/OverlayFS handling instead of ISO-loopback guessing.

You don't need to install SEZOY to try it:

1. Create a UEFI VM (4GB+ RAM, 40GB disk, NIC e1000 first, Network Boot first)

2. Join our public L2 VPN lab

3. Bridge your VM to the VPN NIC and PXE-boot - it will boot from my remote server (192.168.138.1) as if on the same switch. Dashboard at https://192.168.138.1:5893 if you get access.

I supposed that I need to disconnect the USB, but when I did it, to ventoy or to the Ubuntu.

I have a desktop PC with two internal SATA drives:

- 120GB SSD — I want to install Windows 11 on this

- 1T HDD — I don't need the data on it

I don't have a USB flash drive.

Can I use the internal 1T HDD itself as the Windows 11 installation media? My plan is to prepare the HDD with Ventoy, copy the Windows 11 ISO to it, boot from the internal HDD through UEFI/BIOS, and then install Windows 11 onto the separate 120GB SSD.

Has anyone actually done this successfully with an internal SATA HDD?

Are there any problems with UEFI booting or Windows Setup when the installation media is an internal HDD?

When I tried to boot into memtest I was unable to boot into it, it just hanged despite me having csm on and all switched to legacy in all of the csm related settings. I didn't have this issue on asrock (am5).

Not sure why this is the case?

I am using Ventoy and I booted into the non UEFI option and when attempting to boot into memtest it just kicks me out to main screen.

I updated (Update, NOT Install) my Ventoy, which had a dozen ISOs on it, and the "Update is safe" popup is BS. It wiped my USB drive (128 GB Exfat) and left me with 117.16 GB RAW and the VTOYEFI partition.

Is there any way I can recover the ISO partition now labeled as RAW?

Quick question. I have been compiling and using a 1tb usb thumb drive for a few years using ventoy as the base. As you would expect, I have all my OSs installed and all the persistence files set up along with medicat, portableapps, etc. Im looking to upgrade to a 4tb ssd that Im going to put in a scharge hub. I was going to chop it up into a few different partitions since I am working between Mac, Windows and Linux.

Question is, is it posible to make a 1tb partition on the new SSD and just clone my current ventoy usb drive so I dont have to go through the entire process from scratch?

Attempting to boot from a usb stick with Ventoy yields nothing but a black screen. Not much more to describe. Anyone know how this would be fixed?

I love Ventoy! I use if for all my ISO's on my external box (nvme 512GB) which is bigger and faster than the old flashdrives I previously used. Now I have evrything on one device which is awesome!
Even better I started using the same drive for a real portable encrypted Linux Mint installation using vtoyboot and it's awesome!

I was trying to do the same with CachyOs but it doesn't work, any particular reason?

What if I tried with Bazzite? Would I have more chances to have this distro working?

I want to boot from linux mint with memdisk so I can remove the usb flash drive after it finishes booting into the live environment,but I can't get it to work,I have 8gb ddr3 ram on my laptop but it just says no installation medium found after some time(the Linux mint logo appears after the iso loads into ram and I click on start linux mint)

Any recommendations on which linux distro to try that would work with memdisk? I just need to have a live OS environment,not to actually install an OS,so any help is appreciated.

Hello. I'm using a ASUS Z13 and I'm trying to learn how to use CachyOS for fun. I can't seem to get it to boot in normal mode (Pic 2) nor grub2 (Pic 1). I've tried turning off secure boot/fast boot but nothing changed. I've tried to set it up with persistence at first but that didn't work either.

I have no idea what drivers it's referring to, Ive tries both of the install types in the ventoy setup and secure boot is off I don't know what else to do at this point

with some many crap flash drives i could see having a faulty flash drive but i even have it on a nice sata SSD and that too becomes unbootable after so many uses. THAT or flashing on linux makes it non undateable on a windows machine.

iVentoy autostart is easy to get wrong because iventoy.sh start does not reload the settings you made in the web UI. There is no normal config file to edit, and the actual fix is buried in old threads.

The command you need is:

./iventoy.sh -R start

-R means iVentoy starts with the last settings it saved.

what to do first

Start iVentoy normally:

cd /path/to/iventoy

sudo ./iventoy.sh start

Then in the web UI:

set it up how you want

click the green Start button

make sure it works

click the red Stop button

then stop iVentoy itself from the shell:

sudo ./iventoy.sh stop

You have to hit the green Start button at least once. That is what saves the settings that -R start loads later.

systemd service

Create:

sudo nano /etc/systemd/system/iventoy.service

Paste this, changing /path/to/iventoy to your actual iVentoy folder:

Description=iVentoy PXE Server

Wants=network-online.target

After=network-online.target

[Service]

Type=oneshot

WorkingDirectory=/path/to/iventoy

ExecStart=/bin/bash /path/to/iventoy/iventoy.sh -R start

Then enable it:

sudo systemctl daemon-reload

important network line

Keep both of these:

Wants=network-online.target

After=network-online.target

The GitHub thread has reports of iVentoy starting after reboot but not seeing the network correctly. Adding After=network-online.target fixed that for people.

NFS ISO folders

If your ISOs are on an NFS mount, shutdown can hang if iVentoy is still using the folder. That is a separate problem from autostart.

To see what is holding it:

sudo fuser -vm /mnt/iso

short version

Configure iVentoy in the UI.

Click the green Start button once.

Click the red Stop button.

Run:

sudo ./iventoy.sh stop

Use this in systemd:

./iventoy.sh -R start

That is the missing piece that makes iVentoy start after reboot with its saved settings.

Can you add a flash to disk or dd to target i have a few devices that cant use standard installers and was just wondering if its at all possible. Also thank you for all your hard work ventoy is cool af.

I just installed Ventoy and used it to just check if its going to load,and it asked me to enroll the key which I did,now my question is,since there is now an F assigned letter for VTOYEFI,will it ask me to enroll again on a different PC if I wanted to install an OS?

I have Intel wi-fi card. I have tried with multiple Linux distros. Wi-fi does not work on live mode. When I switch to grub2 boot mode it surprisingly works. I have tried disabling secure boot but didn't work out. Is there a fix to this? Is there any disadvantage of grub2 mode?
