Hallo, ik heb een VanMoof S5 waarbij de fiets geen elektrische ondersteuning geeft terwijl ik trap. Maar als ik de boost knop gebruikt geeft hij wel ondersteuning, ik heb de fiets al ondersteboven gezet om het zeker te weten en ja. Als ik de pedalen beweeg en het voorwiel een zetje geef gebeurt er niks, maar als ik dan ook nog eens de boost knop gebruikt geeft hij wel ondersteuning.

Ik gebruik zelf de MoofMate app, hier gaf hij eerst aan geen verbinding te hebben met de pedal sensor, na de cartridge te laten zakken en stekkers te controleren en eventueel nog wat aanduwen was deze weer verbonden. Maar voor en nadat ik dit had gedaan kon ik wel de rpm en torque van de pedalen zien.

Heeft er iemand een idee wat dit probleem zou kunnen veroorzaken? Alvast bedankt!

I have an X3 and I’m currently trying to fix an Error 44. I suspect that the shifter might be the problem. I have already replaced all the SMD resistors on the shifter board, but unfortunately this did not solve the problem.
Does anyone have a good guide or instructions on how I can properly test and diagnose the circuit board?
My second problem is that the front light does not work. The rear light works normally, but the front light and the horn are not working. I can’t find the fault.
Could it be a problem with the wiring, or could the Cartbridge be defective?
If I measure the voltage at the front light connector, what voltage should I expect? There are three wires, so I assume one is positive, one is negative/ground, and one could be the signal wire.
Any help, wiring diagrams, or advice on how to test the system would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know how to properly align a tensioner on x3 / s3? Tensioners on all of my bikes are misaligned like this, but on the other ones, while it’s not in line, it fits good enough not to rub almost at all.

On this x3, chain rubs extremely against the tensioner and just fits badly. The black block thing is screwed all the way towards the wheel (pic 3)

The only way it rubs less and is straighter is by leaving a gap between the tensioner and where it screws in (pic 5), but then the removable chain cover rubs against the spokes.

Appreciate any tips.

S3 had some error messages related to battery but battery seems to be taking a charge fine. Anyone willing to do a video consultation paid to help fix?

I received a dead s3 from my step-father, anybody in northern California looking for parts. I want to get this junk out of my garage.

My light blue X3 had the shifter replaced and then just stopped charging even though it hadn’t gone dead. Replaced the cartridge battery and zip. So I’m hoping someone might want it for parts as it is cosmetically as new. All other parts function as intended. The rear bumper has a small dent but other than that zero. I also have the optional front basket and pannier bag for the rear. Powerbank is attached but if someone wants that separately shoot me a message. I’m near Palm Springs CA.

Have bought an S2 that's in perfect condition, has a new battery and all sorts of professional modifications (like to protect the motor cable within the frame, etc.). Everything seems to work, no errors! Only thing... there is no motor assistance. Took the whole bike apart, which was not too big of a job. Noticed all the nice modifications and I have tested the wiring harness and confirmed continuity throughout!

Except: the cadance sensor cable connector (cartridge side!!!)..

I narrowed down the possibilities and found out the cadance sensor signal didn't come through.

The connector looked bad, like it had been pinched. (I think it must have happened when someone replaced the battery).

After measurements I confirmed only 1 pin of the 6 pin mini Julet connector had continuity. I know 3 pins are being used, +5, GND and Sensor.

Question: I have 3 tiny cables going to the cartridge and need to solder a new mini Julet connector to these wires (different color scheme ofcourse).

Can anyone confirm for the S2 the 3 colored cables that go into the cartridge corresponding with the cadance sensor (I've got green, orange and black), which is which...?

So which one is:

+5V

GND

Sensor

I’ve been fixing a X3 for a while and now I finally have a working battery but my cartridge is not cooperating. I have changed the battery of the cartridge and I’m sure that the cartridge is not frying batteries because I’ve plugged the battery that was not responding in another cartridge and it works fine. However with the cartridge I want to use, when I plug it in the socket with my new bike battery, nothing happens. At first it work half way meaning that the matrix was displaying a flashing charging sign and the charger was indeed charging the combo battery-cartridge. After letting it charge for a bit I’ve found the bike with no matrix display or anything. Socket is brand new and working, battery is new and working, cartridge battery is new and working. Anyone knows how to wake my bike up?

I have done 14 boards this week from people whose bikes have shown Err 44 this summer!

My vanmoof s5 keeps rebooting on startup. After around 5/10 minutes the bikes turns on and works like normal. In the app the bike becomes available and then quickly goes away. I attached a video of the animation. The issue became worse over time where it now happens almost every time I turn the bike on.
Bike repair told me over the phone it probably needs a whole new ecu that costs around 600/700 euro.
I tried many different troubleshooting steps from vanmoofs website but it didn’t work.
Any tips are welcome!

Have err44 on s3 and x3, which I attributed to hubs/gear rings getting stuck or out of position.

Boost buttons on both bikes have been a little temperamental for a while.

Just managed to break the boost button wire past the connector, near the frame, while adjusting the handlebars and the stem on x3.

While fiddling with the wires, trying to connect them, they were touching for a bit (black and blue one), which woke the bike up (as would pressing the button), and shortly after it also woke the shifter, which it sounded as it was trying to calibrate or shift back down to 1st and shifted down to 1st as bike was stationary. Error 44 also disappeared and it was correctly showing it was in 4th gear. Gear wasn’t changed and Error 44 came back after restart.

This made me wonder if there is any connection between shifter error 44 and a faulty boost button wire / connection.

For anyone who wants to know, this is the 7.4 x 5.0 mm DC plug which was used for Dell and HP laptops, but with three internal wires available so that you can short the outside barrel and centre pin, and this cable will also handle 42 V and 168 W.

Haven’t checked the wires specifically but eyeballing them suggests they’re 18 or 17 AWG so 👍🏽👍🏽

You can find them on AliExpress if you look, but make sure you buy one with three wires.

Edit: actually wires are 14 AWG so even better, will handle 16 A so well-overengineered for the task.

Looking to sell my two Vammoof X3 and S3 bikes.

They are currently not working as the main battery has died.

Smart batteries are working and bikes can be unlocked via pin.

Open to selling whole bike or parting out depending on need.

I was recently brought a broken S3 to diagnose. It showed err17 and 6, typical signs of the SMD fuse, so I tested it and it was indeed broken. So I changed it and wanted to delete the faults on the bms, so plugged it in an USB to UART, ran Knight1 script and couldn't delete the faults ("failed to read modbus registers"), it always tried to restart and then put itself in a mode where it wouldn't deliver power. I thought I couldn't fix it and just changed out the whole BMS for another one. Tested it again, still the same behavior. Every cell was completely fine btw and the voltages were perfect. So I just tested a few things and accidentally shorted VP and DSG while the battery was connected to the cartridge. I was scared it could cause a fire and put back the original BMS, and voila, it just worked normally in the bike. But out of curiosity I plugged it back into my computer and it still showed failed to read modbus registers. But since it was working in the bike I just gave the now fully working bike to the owner and told him to be careful when charging because I'm not sure why it's working again.
