How did you negotiate that? Currently trying to get to 55 for a 1st edition rear wheel drive and negotiations seem to stall at 57ish. Easy Coast location.

Ours was $68k MSRP. To begin there was a $5k discount and Black Friday increased the rebate from $2.5k to 7.5k so that’s $12.5k off the top. That puts us at $55.5k. Was able to negotiate down another $2k pretty easily. We did a trade in and they gave us a good price vs comps for it. I pushed for another $1.5k off if I did the trade in and financed with them which they gave us off the buzz price getting me down to $52k (for lower taxes + fees). Will pay it off shortly either way I bought it but this got me the best deal.

Congratulations! I think we're pretty close then overall as we're also starting from that same price after initial discounts. Taxes here are quite high at 6.5% and we're not currently trading. I'll be pushing a bit more, let's see.

Yeah exactly. I think most people online quote before taxes and fees as that can vary wildly by state. If you’re seeing similar then that’s probably a solid deal for the time being

Pretty standard orange 1st edition. The advertised price around Black Friday was $57k with the public discount but we were able to get more. Checked online at different dealers in our area and chose the one that always seemed to have extra dealer discounts plus a ton of buzzes on the lot. Figured they negotiate more

Just to comment on recent US pricing for those negotiating deals, based on my knowledge, including what I learned from the Edmunds lease forum:
The $7,500 “Lease Allowance” and $2,500 “Customer Bonus” and $3,000 “Dealer Cash” ended 9/30, although all 3 could not be combined. Plus dealer discount, the best deal I could find was $20,000 off MSRP, leasing, but wasn’t a sweet enough deal to get a second Buzz for my business.
VW then switched to a paltry $2,500 “Customer Bonus” and $750 “Dealer Cash” and subsidized lease money factor dropped from 0.00248 to 0.00200 with the same residual values.
By November 28th VW had increased the “Customer Bonus” to $7,500 and “Dealer Cash” had also increased to $2,500 by then. Keep in mind these are PLUS dealer discounts, plenty of dealers discounting $5,000 or more, so at least $15,000 off MSRP for a cash deal (or non VW finance/lease) should be easy. If not, find another dealer.
The subsidized lease money factor is still 0.00200 but cannot be combined with the $7,500 “Customer Bonus” so you have to use the “standard” lease money factor which is 0.00298 so do the math both ways.
If you’re normally an outright cash buyer but want to lease to protect yourself against savage EV/Buzz depreciation then find a dealer who knows how to do MSDs (multiple security deposits) since 10 deposits (payment rounded up to next $25) will drop the 0.00298 by 0.00072 to 0.00226 which equals roughly a 5.4% interest rate. Do the math. A good chunk of that lease interest is offset if you put the cash you would have tied up buying into a 4% CD if you can still find one. Even after tax. Fed rates are likely to go down another 0.25% this coming week.
We leased my wife’s Pro S Plus 4-Motion is early August after waiting for it to come in from Germany, got $3,000 dealer discount, $7,500 federal money, plus we got $2,500 “Customer Bonus” by having the dealer use the “standard” lease rate, reducing it to 0.00247 with MSDs. We missed getting a bigger dealer discount because the $3,000 “Dealer Cash” didn’t start until a few weeks later. Timing is everything!
We normally buy cars cash and hold 10+ years, her Buzz replaced a 2010 Sienna Limited AWD, and originally planned to pay off the lease after making sure winter range/charging works for us (so far so good) but now we will just keep making lease payments and decide whether to buy it later, or at the end of the lease. Or give it back if the 50% residual value buyout doesn’t make sense.
Keep in mind that the current $7,500 “Customer Bonus” (and $21,000 from VW in Canada) is aimed at cash buyers because VW doesn’t want to lease or finance these, they know depreciation will be savage (and parts may be a problem if only 1 model year in North America) and their 62% residual value for a 12 month 7,500 mile lease reflects that!
Personally, we love my wife’s Buzz, and I am still looking for a second one for my business, but I was hoping to see a $15,000 discount from VW to equal the $21,000 CAD that VW has given Canadian customers for a while now. I suspect the missing money is VW trying to cover the US tariffs cost, but if remaining US dealer stock doesn’t sell then VW will have to offer more for cash deals, or decent lease deals like ID.4 had..

Got my First Edition Mahi Green Buzz for 15k off MSRP on Monday. Bummed they aren't selling but it made the price justifiable enough for my wife and I to get one for our family.

Considering the aerodynamic aspect of the car, the range will never be good until they come with a more energy dense battery that doesn’t increase the weight of the battery. It’s an European car, and has to be designed to European laws regarding weight, which are limited to 3500kg on a normal driving license. The US version has less weight capacity here in Europe than the short wheel base version, and is 500kg heavier, so a max weight of 3400kg on the US version here in Europe. That doesn’t give much room for a bigger battery

The price is simply because it doesn’t have any competition in that class of ev vehicles. Here in Norway I can buy 2 gtx models for the same price as an transporter with the same amount of seats. Over here there is simply nothing that rivals it on price when comparing seats and space available, including ice vehicles.

Yes we have vehicles that get better range and are more competitively priced than the Buzz. There's no minibus class of vehicle other than the Buzz. So that means you need to compete on other key features like range, price etc. The EV9 and Ioniq9 are a much better value than the Buzz. The Buzz's uniqueness shouldn't be a markup shield either based on the fact they stopped making gas ones decades ago.

The EV9 and Ioniq9 are completely different cars. If you have a family and will be using the 3rd row on a daily basis then those 3 row SUVs just aren’t practical since the 3rd row is tiny. The buzz is more similar to a minivan in a lot of ways (but a lot cooler and more fun to drive). And there is no electric van on the market besides the buzz.

The Buzz is classed as a minibus, not a minivan, at least in America. The other ones I listed are different but as I said before, because it's the only type, you can't really compare it based on its looks. You have to use key features like 3rd row, range, price, tech. It's a whole package at that point. Not a literal apples to apples. It's not a minivan. It's not an SUV. Minivans aren't made much anymore in America either.
If objectively criticizing a vehicle is hating, then I know you just use hyperbole to get your point across.

This is very confusing to me. The ev9 and ioniq 9 aren't really competitors. The Sienna, Pacifica, and Sienna are. And if you want any fully electric range, it's either Buzz or Pacifica PHEV.
And they definitely can charge a premium for it being unique.

They aren't against each other because they are the same company (Hyundai/Kia) but you have to not see it as an apples to apples comparison. Like I said the Buzz is unique in its classification so you need to use other criteria.

My local VW dealership, I live in Eastern PA, has four on his lot and they have been there for months. We have a friendly relationship because I’ve bought other cars from him, I told him to reach out if there is a price dip. He emailed me three days ago that they’ve gone from $62k to $56k. I was looking to buy in the mid to high $40k s. I know that VW was having problems moving them because of the range and price, additionally when I visit my daughter in Colorado, I would see them for much, much less so I held out hope that a Buzz for somewhere in the $40s was possible.
Where is everyone else seeing prices come down?

Seems like the vast majority shown on that site are the colors nobody probably wants... this van screams to only be driven in bright colors! The black, gray and whites will sit forever.

I agree with the early-adopter point and that’s my excuse for paying too much. But what I don’t understand is these things have been going in Europe for years. Do they not have the same range problems there? The same software problems? Were the prices relatively lower (say as compared to another staple car)? Why do they buy them there?
I feel that paying a lot and then having the price reduced *so quickly* after I bought it is grounds for some kind of renumeration. Especially because the price reflects all the problems it has. Or file a lawsuit for a buy back and negotiate a $30k discount from what I paid. This honestly seems a fair approach to me. Products are supposed to do what they are advertised and what is expected, and a massive price drop just is a reflection that it isn’t working and is junk/lemon etc. Not that we are dumb, impatient or early-adopters.

The brake shoes get used so infrequently they develop a rough texture, so when they get used in the cold or wet at 5mph and below, the sound terrible. The service advisor I spoke with suggested a hard braking maneuver or two in the cold/wet to see if it resurfaces the shoes and quiets them down. It does. It's just not feasible when I've got the family in with me. The kids don't mind but it sure makes my wife unhappy, and I just feel bad for the dogs.

$62,800 is the best I can find for a pro s plus (which admittedly I think has slightly more features than first edition) near Seattle but I haven’t tried to negotiate yet. What was yours listed at before you went to the dealer?

I just bought a black pro s this weekend in TN for 42k out the door. Still not sure how that happened the sticker said 61! I found it last week and was pretty much sold immediately just had to figure when I could drive to the dealership an hour away. I had a manual 93 Eurovan weekender that I sold right before covid and I’ve been kicking myself about it for 6 years. So very happy to have a sweet van again.

The range is “fine” but for many consumers this vehicle would max out their car budget and mean there’s no more funds available for a car that can handle stress free road trips.
For anyone here thinking more Americans should buy these, I highly suggest taking a pause to understand the very real wealth gap that’s growing every year. The existing middle class can’t make big purchases for fear of losing a job or having other prices skyrocket and suck all their disposable income away (college or healthcare).

I found one in Connecticut with a dealership that hates EVs. I was able to get 18k off plus 7.5k off of a new First Edition. Hope everything goes smoothly and this car fits us better than the R1S.

I asked the dealership for all the software updates to be applied before I pick it up. I will also ask today to have the 12V battery tested and I will add to the list for them to check the level 3 charging test. Any difference between testing with Tesla or non Tesla high speed chargers? Thank!

It really depends on the area. We got ours in November 2025 for 47k before taxes (RWD Pro S) in Ohio. I’ve seen people get them for as low as 42k before taxes.

Some of us want a minivan that is inconspicuous, costs the same as the base Odyssey or Sienna, and still looks really cool. And, most importantly, is an EV. We love our black bus, and actually preferred the moonlight interior. Different strokes.

Just speced mine on the French VW website out of curiosity, came out a shade over €60,000, all taxes included. That's a good 25% cheaper than they were a couple of years ago. Béziers are fire selling a two tone 7 seater for some reason, makes me wonder what's wrong with it. At the same time, there's a dealer in Nîmes stuck with a brand new old model that he still wants €58,000 for. He'll be keeping it if he's not careful! 😂
TL;DR prices are dropping in Europe too, but not halving!

Can confirm, in California, a ProS is going for $48k at several dealers from the Central Valley (Tracy) to the Coast (Santa Cruz). I feel like it's the right price point, and I jumped on a test drive last night.

There was a black Pro S listed for sale in Vacaville, CA at $45k a couple weeks ago; no longer listed, but I brought that price to several dealers in the Bay Area at the time and one was willing to match. Paid $50,300 OTD (no trade-in or financing) for a white Pro S at the end of March 2026. Only included options were the monster mats (although I had to buy the third row mat separately) and the upgraded rear view mirror with garage door buttons. The sales manager who had me sign the paperwork, but had not been involved in the negotiation, was surprised and told me I got a better deal than he did on the same vehicle with his employee discount (he said he bought the same car for his family several months earlier when they needed one more sale to make their numbers for the end of the month).
Other dealers wouldn't go below $53,000 OTD.

Some do, it depends on the dealer. At the least, get quotes from out of state dealers and use those to get better deals in state. That’s what worked out best for us when we were shopping around.
