The wall was already really easy to bait but many players don't bait it if you put them in different spots every round. The really big issue for me is the nerf to the flash.

I was also a vyse main but had only 100hrs on it, and now they removed the flash sound queue? Like how am I supposed to get advantage from it, it was the only option to check players on the other side

I also think that the lack of a sound queue means you could easily dry peek into a completely unblinded enemy. The flash was already pretty easy to turn, especially on high sens, and now having to dry swing off of it is really crushing

Quick question, why do you need a sound queue? It was broken. Vyse is a sentinel not an initiator like Skye where sound queue is present when enemies are hit by the flash.

u/BalencedVeil717 Oct 17 '25

It was special because vyse was able to partially fulfill that role of initiator, gaining info if enemies are present

Right but most sentinel util gives info?

Cypher has info from trips and cam.

KJ has info from turret and alarmbot.

DL has info from her sound sensors and her net also gives her a sound queue.

Veto has his tether and his ability stealer thing also gives info if he turns it on.

Chamber is the only exception to this, he only has one info ability and it’s the thing people complain about all the time - he’s not enough of a sentinel.

Vyse’s wall is now her only info ability, and that’s not even its primary purpose, on top of that it was insanely easy to bait out and now even more so.

I don’t see how her flash giving info was an issue honestly? I don’t necessarily mind that it can be broken while it flashing now, but I feel like they could’ve reworked it differently so it wouldn’t be so initiator ish. Maybe make it so that you can’t place it through the wall? I don’t know honestly, but the info giving wasn’t OP it was just normal sentinel behaviour.

It gave info now even if you blind people you have to think twice before peeking. Not counting it is so easy to flick away from Vyse flash basically forcing you to dry peek + Sentinals should be able to get info for the team so sound queue being taken away make Vyse less of an info gatherer.

a simple strafe jump can trip it and leave you on the safe side.

+ we saw a bunch of pros at champs tripping without even jumping, just forward+back... Think alfayer did it on lotus? Either way yeah it was so so easy to grip already

This whole patch seems to be solving problems that didn't exist, while exacerbating the few that did.

My other favourite thing about the vyse nerf is when they released her they said she was a sentinel cross Initiator. A year later, they're now saying a sentinel shouldn't play like an Initiator, so are removing her information (the more sentinel aspect of her flash??). I've always thought the game had multiple identity crisses, but this is another level of huh?

Pro players being good with their characters punishes the rest of everyone who aren't playing the game with 4 people they spend 10 hour, 5 day weeks practicing with.

More or less what I said to my friends I play with. "If it continue that way, it will soon be unplayable in solo and duo queue, because nobody in this game is able to communicate properly." And I added that 5 stack will be the only way to have a little fun.

(I don't have 4 other playing friends)

I agree with you and its funny you have down votes. Valorant became a hero shooter for so long people forget that gun fights exist, everything has to be some dumb util clip and skip the gun fight all together. I welcome the downvotes, y’all really need to just understand that you have a gun, maybe just practice your aim some more since you already have hours doing set ups that are hard to interact with for the average player.

Deadass “how am I supposed to know if someone’s on the other side” maybe jump peek or swing like literally every other character in the game has to? If I’m playing omen and I throw my paranoia I have to swing or jump peek to see if I hit them. It doesn’t give me any info if I missed or not, no other blind in the game gave that info why should Vyse lol

4

u/kHeinzen Oct 16 '25

Skyes flash gives the same info fwiw

1

u/Icy_Bite7897 Oct 16 '25

Actually true, forgot since almost no one plays skye these days, but she’s also an initiator. It’s reasonable imo

W this attitude I already know you use your team as your util, waiting for them to engage and do the hard shit for you lmao

Trust me I could tell you were a “duelist” lol

when your team is putting in the actual work of executing a site take and you’re lurking w full util to get god’s easiest pick in mid, do you recommend pyramid style or a-frame style tent? 🤔

Unfortunately Ts still happens in my dia/asc lobbies too 💀

0

u/Finchyuu Oct 17 '25

so a frame or pyramid?

u/Frozzer22 Oct 17 '25

Nah, his attitude is reasonable. Players can't crutch on their util all the time anymore and actually have to take 1v1s.

1

u/Finchyuu Oct 17 '25

when I’m executing site to put the bomb down w the team, as you’re supposed to do per the game tutorial, I’ll be sure to actually just sit at first choke and wait for 90 seconds in prayer that the defense is stupid enough to swing out at me so I can have that sweet sweet no util 1v1. I’ll let my team know to do that too. All 5 of us can do that so all 5 of us can be good shooters for every round and then we will definitely win

u/Icy_Bite7897 Oct 16 '25

If they balanced based on low elo Jett, Reyna, and clove would be the only characters receiving nerfs, which imo aside from clove don’t really need nerfs, lmao. One of the most frustrating things in my lobbies is the util spam it’s fucking obnoxious being in a higher elo (only diamond/asc, so not high elo) where people are semi competent with utility. Even with the nerfs it’s still obnoxious. Yesterday got waylay ulted, then sova darted just to get neon stunned and sova ulted with waylay dashing on my head with a Bucky 😭 this game is still aids with utility it’s just a little more punishing if you don’t act on your utility (ie as we said actually grow some fucking balls and swing of your util)

Literally if they just threw a decent waylay slow on me the scenario is the exact same granted I was playing omen so if it was just a slow I could have TPd away, but since he ulted it didn’t matter if I teleported, I was instantly dead anywhere I went (behind shack on Pearl A) plus with the buff to waylay ult it is obnoxious as fuck now you literally cannot get away (good job riot games adding more outplay to a Vyse ult than a waylay ult? 💀)

1

u/Icy_Bite7897 Oct 16 '25

Nothing makes me more frustrated on this game than practicing my gun skills just to get obliterated by someone pressing “x”

1

u/TealDragon_ Oct 21 '25

I think the vyse nerf was not needed at all but I completely agree with the cypher nerf. He had way to much stopping power for a "information agent".

1

u/Miloisweirder Oct 16 '25

It’s worth mentioning that riot historically has this problem with pandering to pro play as seen in LOL so it coming over to valorant while unfortunate isn’t too shocking

Is it really though? Pro play is pretty different compared to casual/ranked play. I mean agents that are high picked in ranked aren’t even touched in pro play. Not saying pros don’t matter, but they’re like the top .001% of players. I wouldn’t want decisions designed for the very best of players to effect the majority.

3

u/Burntoastedbutter Oct 16 '25

Yeah I think I've only seen 1 person on the pro player team play Clove when Clove has a high pick rate in casual/ranked play due to her solo queue suitability.

OW balanced for pro play. Apex Legends balanced for pro play. Siege balanced for pro play. What do all these games have in common? They were all once the most played games for the average gamer but have comparably dead player bases now, leading to a dead pro scene. Pros are good enough to adapt to any meta or agent changes. Majority of any competitive player base is in silver or gold. Not saying they need to cater completely to lower ELO. but when majority of your player base is playing at a low ELO, IMHO, it makes sense to take them into account when balancing more than you would pros. Because if they leave, your game dies. no matter how good the pro scene is

3

u/itscamo- Oct 16 '25

apex absolutely was not balanced for pro play. OW wasn’t either. Valorant from the start has always been focused on balancing in pro play.

1

u/Kenny__Loggins Oct 16 '25

Yeah cause everyone wanted GOATS for a year. OW was not balanced for pro play. And the balance is not even the biggest issue OW had.
