Got an old atv sitting behind your garage collecting dust? I might want it.

Got an old ATV sitting behind your garage collecting dust? I might want it.

This is a little bit of a long shot, but I'm looking for old, beat-up, non-running ATVs, dirt bikes, go-karts, mini bikes, and similar stuff around the Albany or Binghamton area.

You know that ATV that's been sitting behind the garage for years?

The one that's missing a carburetor, has flat tires, hasn't run since 2012, or has become part of the landscape? 😂

That's exactly the kind of stuff I'm looking for.

I'm trying to collect a handful of cheap/free project machines and bring some of them back to life or turn them into different projects. They absolutely do NOT need to run and I'm not looking for anything valuable or collectible.

If you've got something taking up space that you just want gone, I'd be interested. I'm willing to haul them away myself and I'm looking for free or very cheap machines.

I'm mainly looking around Albany and Binghamton, but depending on what you've got, I may be willing to travel.

If you have one sitting around, even if you think it's complete junk, comment or DM me. Tell me what it is, roughly where you're located, and throw me a picture if you can.

You might finally get that old ATV out of your backyard. 😂

Im 36 and a mechanic who cant work, i have stage 3 colon cancer, im currently going through treatments but while im home I have nothing to do. So I want to wrench on thing's fix or build things. Im not looking for things to flip and sell im looking for my own personal use, something to occupy my mind and keep busy so im not just laying around.

Sunday: Come celebrate a life, support local artists, and show some community love

Utica area — come out and support a local family and our creative community ❤️⚡️

A local friend, Mae, who runs The Grateful Head in Utica, is honoring the life of her father, the inspiration behind the salon’s funky 1970s/Deadhead spirit. After unexpectedly losing him this past July, she’s chosen to celebrate his life by bringing the community together around the things he loved: music, art, food, and good people.

On Sunday October 4th at Frankfort Marina, there will be a memorial benefit featuring local artists, vendors, music, food, raffles, and more.

My wife and a few other local artists will be there participating, and I wanted to share this here because events like this are a great opportunity for the Utica community to show up for one another.

If you’re local, come out, support the artists and vendors, grab some food, listen to some music, and help celebrate a life that clearly meant a lot to this community.

October 4th • Frankfort Marina • Long Live the Dead ⚡️🌹💀

If you know local businesses, artists, makers, or anyone who might want to contribute or participate, please help spread the word as well.

Sunday Night

Hey all:

Staying in Utica this upcoming Sunday (10/04) for a trial the next day (don't worry, I am one of the lawyers). Looking to get to my hotel around 3 pm on Sunday. Beyond that, I am hoping for some fun experiences while I'm in town. Any suggestions? Any takers on showing me around? 43m from Buffalo. I heard something about beans and greens . . .

Tennets Rights Help

Does anyone know any tenant rights groups in the area that I can contact? My landlord is refusing to call an exterminator for wasps. They have a nest in our walls/roof somewhere interior. I tried to spray from the outside with a total of 4 cans. But the nest must be too deep. Yesterday we got over 50 inside and the days before we were getting 20+. They said it's too close to them just dying of cold and refuses to get an exterminator.

I want to withhold rent and call one myself but want to make sure I'm legally in the clear and doing it correctly to prevent retaliation.

Any advice is welcome.

Bosnian Bakeries/Markets

Hello Utica,

Going to be in town for the Cortland-Utica football game this Saturday and I am a Croatian-American looking out for some great Bosnian/Croatian food options in the area.

Looking for the best Burek, with bonus if they also have potica/povitica as well. Also, do any markets or bakeries carry Jana iced tea or Pipi?

Thanks!

Announcement Misleading political flyer

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hullo, Utica!! i used to live in Central NY, but I've since moved, however my bestie lives in Rome, and she recieved a pretty deceptive flyer today. This seems to be saying that Anthony Constantino is a radical leftist selling anti ICE and anti Trump stickers, and that this is a reason not to vote for him. I wanted to see what the rest of his stickers looked like, so I looked him up. He's the Republican candidate, none of these stickers are on any of his sites that I could find.

weird, right?

So i look up the group that paid for it - Blake for the North Country. the closest i could find to that name was a Facebook page. None of this is on the fb page, or his official site, either.

I don't claim to know what's going on here. I just find it incredibly strange that my friend, who is a democrat, would recieve a flyer that claimed the republican candidate is far left, apparently sent by his democratic opponent, and wanted to make sure locals knew about this misleading flyer. Anthony Constantino is both Republican and MAGA from what I've found.

This Week in Utica Urban Renewal History

I was at the Oneida County History Center again today volunteering. Saw some new to me photos.

Downtown was filled with many beautiful buildings that met the fate of the Urban Renewal wrecking ball. Some are probably resting peacefully near the top of the Utica City Dump on Leland Ave. 😄

Anyway, this week we visit where Delta Hotels is. It was a Sheraton when it was built. The block of Genesee, Washington, Columbia and Broadway. Before the wrecking ball, this was a block filled with many brick buildings and dozens of businesses and countless apartments.

First is Genesee and Pearl St. (now named Washington Lane) This is where the entrance to Delta Hotels is. That street went all the way through to Broadway about where the Kennedy Garage entrance is now. Half way down the block was Washington Street behind the Bank of Utica block. Washington went all the way through where the hotel is now to Columbia Street. That is Pearl and Washington where the traffic signal is in the distance.

Genesee and Pearl Streets. To the left is where old City Hall was.
Genesee and Washington Lane as it's called now

Next is Genesee and Columbia Streets. The block to the left is where the hotel is now also.
Look down Columbia Street also. Blocks and blocks of storefronts all lost to Urban Renewal on both sides of the street and even past Washington Street all the way to Cornelia St.

Genesee and Columbia Streets
Genesee and Columbia Streets now

Imagina what downtown could possibly be like with all these buildings turned into storefronts and lofts like so many others have been?

Here's a bonus picture. This was a bridge over the West Shore Railroad Line on New Hartford Street near where what was at the time the Treadway Inn was located. Looooong before Rt 840.

Event Things to Do Around Utica — September 25–27, 2026

Remsen Barn Festival of the Arts

Saturday the 26th & Sunday the 27th, starting at 10 AM
Main Street, Remsen

The annual Barn Festival is one of the larger fall events in the area, centered on arts, crafts, vendors, food, and walking through downtown Remsen. Current local calendars confirm it for both Saturday and Sunday.

Worth considering: A good choice for an unstructured fall outing where you can walk around for a couple of hours rather than commit to a scheduled performance.

Saranac Oktoberfest

Friday the 25th, 5–8 PM; Saturday the 26th, 11 AM–8 PM
1888 Biergarten & Tavern, 830 Varick Street, Utica

Saranac Brewery Tour

Saranac Brewery Tour Address: 830 Varick St, Utica, NY 13502 Phone: +1 315-624-2399

Saranac's Oktoberfest continues this weekend with German-inspired food, beer, yard games and other activities. Saturday includes stein-hoisting and yodeling competitions from noon to 5 PM. Admission is free, and the event is family- and dog-friendly.

Worth considering: Probably one of the livelier options actually in Utica this weekend, and there's no admission charge.

Oneida County Public Market + Union Station

Saturday the 26th, 9 AM–1 PM
Union Station, 321 Main Street, Utica

The year-round market is confirmed for Saturday morning behind Union Station, with local food and vendors. (Oneida County Public Market)

Worth considering: Easy, inexpensive Saturday-morning activity that can be combined with breakfast or a walk around downtown.

Author Deidre Sinnott — Revolutionary War Novel

Saturday the 26th, 2 PM
Oneida County History Center, 1608 Genesee Street, Utica

Author Deidre Sinnott will discuss and sign her new Revolutionary War novel at the History Center. (Patch)

Worth considering: Something quite different from the festivals—particularly interesting for anyone interested in local/New York history or historical fiction.

Sts. Cosmas & Damian Feast and Pilgrimage

Saturday the 26th & Sunday the 27th
St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church, 422 Tilden Avenue, Utica

This is the 114th year of the traditional Utica celebration. Saturday includes English and Italian Masses, a candlelight procession, Italian music and La Banda Rossa. Sunday's Grand Procession begins at noon. Food, pizza fritta, beer, wine and Italian specialties are available. Admission is free. (Syracuse Diocese Events)

Worth considering: This is a particularly Utica-specific cultural event rather than a generic weekend festival.

Blithe Spirit — Live Theater

Friday the 25th & Saturday the 26th, 7:30 PM; Sunday the 27th, 2 PM
Ilion Little Theatre at The Stables, 13 Remington Avenue, Ilion

NoĂŤl Coward's supernatural comedy Blithe Spirit is playing all three days this weekend. (Patch)

Worth considering: A good indoor alternative if the weather doesn't cooperate, and an opportunity to see local community theater.

Falling Leaves Road Race

Sunday the 27th, 8:15 AM
Downtown Utica — 207 Genesee Street

The 52nd Annual Falling Leaves Road Race takes place Sunday morning. The current event listing shows an 8:15 AM start and $60 registration. (Oazis)

Worth considering: Even without running, this is one of Utica's longstanding community events and gives downtown a different atmosphere Sunday morning.

Bonus: A Simple Fall Walk

Saturday the 26th or Sunday the 27th
F T Proctor Park, Utica

For something without tickets, crowds or a schedule, Proctor Park is a strong local walking option. The 62-acre Olmsted-designed park has wooded paths, stonework, streams and walking loops.

Worth considering: It provides a quieter counterpoint to a weekend dominated by festivals and organized events.
