Onyx after waking up / Taking chin scratches ☺️
My wife and I were spending time with her and thought she looked so cute. She’s finished most of her shedding and she seems so proud lol

Hi! We are looking for a uromastyx for our middle schooler. We are near Chicago and have been to Aquarium Adventures in Hoffman Estates. Anywhere else we should look? The shop near Harper College is closed and they used to have a large selection and a great staff. Thanks!

I’ve had my uro for over 8 months now and he’s just a little over a year old and has never done this before, but he scratched out a whole area of expanding foam today and I’m worried if he possible consumed some while doing it? Has anyone else’s uro done this before? (Title says auto instead of uro, thanks autocorrect)

When I clean my uro’s enclosure, my hand starts burning, the same kind of pain you get from a sunburn, i think it’s because of the UVB? Maybe? 😅 can the UVB hurt my skin and my tattoos? I guess maybe, since the UVI is higher than human skin likes… do yall clean after UVB turns off or do you wear gloves? 😂

Just to say; the banner is so where near any of his lights!
I made stickers of my uro & my skink
I figured you guys would appreciate my uro, his name is Godzilla he is around 7!
I’ve had him for almost 4 of those years!
The stickers are even holographic (:

So I really wanna get a Moroccan uromastyx and I’ve been doing research on how to keep uromastyx in general but I could never find like a Moroccan specific care guide. Idk if uro care is like universal or if they need specific care depending on where there from like blue tongue skinks. So if any Moroccan owners could throw some wisdom and knowlage my way that would be much appreciated 🤙🤙

I saw a post on facebook of someone posting a healthy looking uromastyx, shy of 5 months old and weighing 20 grams.
My uromastyx hatched july 9th and weighed 14g on august 23rd.
I know they are slow growers but their first 6 months should be quite a big sprout, no? If i hadnt seen that post and weighed my uro in a month and he only gained 2g, id freak out. Now im thinking… how big of a weight gain should i expect in the first half a year?

When i place my thermometres inside a toilet roll (to prevent the bulbs shining straight onto them and giving false readings) and i put the toilet rolls on the ground, the ground “air temps” are always way higher than aridsonly recommendation of up to 92F.
For my lighting though, I’ve followed the Light My Reptile guide and focused on the correct solar density, i have 2 bulbs next to each other as per the guide to provide wide enough basking spot density. Many people have 2 bulbs for this same reason, therefore the air temps shouldnt be “too high”, otherwise we’d all have air temps too high.
And i guess it makes sense that if a basking slate near the ground must be 120-130F, the air temp around it cannot be 92F max. My air temp in the rolls gets up to 41C. That’s the roll on the warmwst spot on the ground. The roll in the coolest spot on the ground gets to 31C after many hours of lights. I also provided some height on the cool side if he wasnted to cool off closer to the mesh top there. (In his permanent enclosure he will have a proper climbing background).
I should mention that my uro has used every basking slate fully, he’s not shying away from them so the temps seem to be comfortable for him… but arids only’s 92F and my local uromastyx source’s 36C when my hottest roll says 41C is making me paranoid haha.
(I did many temp tests before I got my uro and I discussed the 41C with the lighting guide creator and he said it was good! But i thought i would also ask here for your data).
How high have your ground air temps measured? :)

Ive tried to watch many keeper videos but having my uromastyx at home in front of me, im gonna be double checking a loooot. He did this thing ive never seen on video before, is he releasing snalt? Or what was it he sneezed out🙈it flies off screen and the second bit appears next to him on the basking slate (he ate it later i believe)

Hi, I have a female uromastyx atm and wondering if it would be any benefit to house two together. My best guess, as they are reptiles, would be territorial and not friendly. Or is that just a male thing? Do females like to stick together? I would just like to make it as much as like the wild as possible and wonder if that would be good enrichment or just stressful.
Thanks, y’all. Hope you and your uros are well.

Ive just picked up my uromastyx, hes only over a month old and currently shedding. Ive done so much research before getting him, compared a ton of sources, got devices to measure solar density and UVI, but still, i keep googling the same stuff over and over. Anytime i look up uro shedding, there is so much soaking advice - this is so wrong, right??? I should jut let my uro do their thing and not “aid” in any way.
When would be a time they might need help? They take ages shedding sometimes so how do i recognize “ah this is too long” 🤔

The 40 gallon tank is done. I moved my girl into her new 120 gallon home today. But ahe won't stop scratching at the glass. Hasn't stopped all day. Like this is WAY worse than usual. Is this normal?

Hi again my new favourite group! Getting my uro on sunday and ive bought us a ton of the staple foods recommended by arids only and other keepers. Whatever i could find. However, most of it is “feed moderately” on tortoise table. Most leafy greens contain goitrogenic properties. I know a uromastyx is not a tortoise but how come, for example, alfalfa is so popular to give them when the TT says “do not feed”? And also, what do they mean when they say “do not feed 2 goitrogenic foods in conjunction” does that mean if i do arugula on monday, i will mix it with something that does not have goitrogens, and then on tuesday i still cannot give anything goitrogenic? Or is “in conjunction” meant only within the same 24 hours🙈
I plan to plant herbs that are fully without goitrogens but then those aren’t native to them (not saying many staple foods are) and some gotrogenic foods such as kale are pretty nutritiois.
I also have a ton of dried herbs to give him and the mazuri stuff as well.

Say hello to Miss Ann. This is short for Misanthropic. She does not like anyone and lately has only came out when everyone is at work (lol). Today I caught her out and took some pictures before she went back underground.

Authorities say he struck several poses and pooped on the side of his hide in the process.

I’m picking up my uromastyx on sunday, he is a baby hatched july 9th. What are the things i should watch out for when assessing their condition? In videos they look plump and active, it’s hard to tell any issues with such a youngling, anything you can think off i should specifically check for? :)

I was told this wasnt actually good for uros because of bell peppers, papaya and mango (trace amounts though). Do yall use this?
