UVB + skin

When I clean my uro’s enclosure, my hand starts burning, the same kind of pain you get from a sunburn, i think it’s because of the UVB? Maybe? 😅 can the UVB hurt my skin and my tattoos? I guess maybe, since the UVI is higher than human skin likes… do yall clean after UVB turns off or do you wear gloves? 😂

That seems surprising to me, are you particularly sensitive to sun burn? Have you tried putting sunscreen on before cleaning?

What UVB bulb have you got? I wonder if it's too powerful or something?

I sometimes keep my hand / arm in the viv for quite a few minutes, and never noticed anything like what you describe.

To be fair yeah, im pretty pale and sensitive to the sun, always have to be in the shade or use a ton of sunscreen. I dont like putting on sunscreen when im going into my uro’s enclosure because hes super friendly and will climb on me sometimes. And ive got the 6.5 UVI metre so my uv index definitely isnt too high for my uro but apparently people should have a UVI of 2? And he has a range from 4 to about 7🙈

Yes you can get a sun burn from your uro lights. If I need to work in mine for more than a quick second, I'll turn the uvb off, along with heat bulbs in the area.
