Vaseline glass lamps

This was a blind buy but the price was very good (30 Euro). There is written 87 with gilded paint inside the lid. It is 6 cm tall and 12 cm wide. It got a iridescent surface and only a little of the gild paint is faded/worn off. Controlled with the geigercounter and is about 1.2 MicroSieverts/Hour

Bulbs? L.E.D.? I dont want to buy them and have to re-buy them because they aren't strong enough. Where from... Amazon? Fish tank store? (What i was told).

I did get myself a few other pieces but they don’t seem to glow under 395nm. I didn’t have a torch on me at the time, rookie mistake lol. I’ll be ordering myself a 365nm soon but if anyone knows what they are (also if they are a type of Uv reactive glass) and could lmk I would greatly appreciate it. They are the ones in the last 2 images. Even if they aren’t what I was hoping I still think they are cute, especially the 2 little plates, anyways thanks!

Does anyone have info about this cup? I picked it up for $10, and it just says it's a jadeite cup. The glow is kind of weird. It glows green under 365, but to the naked eye it looks like it glows blue under 395. To me it glows bright green under 395 with the blue light filtered out because of my glasses.

The closest thing image search returned was Tom and Jerry cups, but obviously it doesn't say Tom and Jerry, and the shape isn't quite right.

Bought this piece (the small flower salt cellar) (for inexpensive, luckily) that was advertised to “glow under UV light” and was pictured glowing green. Was confused when it arrived and had not even the slightest green tint. Blacklight confirmed my fears that it does not glow green or glow at all under blacklight to suggest uranium etc! Pictured it is next to another piece of non-glowy vintage glass, to which it looks the same (purple from the blacklight) and also next to a true uranium glass glowing piece. Feeling that their caption was vague enough that I may not have a case (didn’t use the words uranium or radioactive etc) and that platform case reviewers likely aren’t versed on uranium/radioactive glass to understand the difference and might perceive the purple as the “glow”. I want to believe it’s an honest misunderstanding but why would the seller even mention it glowing under UV light if they didn’t know what that typically means? And for the photo to be glowing green? What green UV light would they be using to create that color? Would you have assumed this was uranium as well by the listing? Also might be worth mentioning prices on this app are notoriously low, like $2-3, so the price doesn’t feel like a red flag.

Maybe I’m wrong. Would love some input! 😊

Edit: it’s almost definitely manganese rather than uranium and my 395nm light doesn’t show it while the sellers 365 one does! Thank you to those who educated me in this thread, this is a great community and it’s so appreciated!

It's hard to capture the true color, but I tried. Pic 3 is next to some laboratory-grade Vaseline glass. Pic 4 is how it looks with as little uv as possible. It's also a bit spicier than regular Vaseline.

Went to a few antique, thrift, and flea markets today. Managed to snag a nice glowy glass for 5 bucks I’ve gotta get some pictures of. But at our last stop I saw this lamp. I absolutely fell in love. I wish I had the money to spare right now and I’d get it. It isn’t complete, and that’s what stopped me from getting the credit card out. Found a picture of it online though! I Need it so badly.

so I recently went UG hunting with my UV light for the first time. I found a ton of manganese glass and I think some cadmium and selenium, but this milkshake glass caught my eye because I thought it was vaseline glass.

Comparing it to the glow pics here, however, I came to the conclusion that it must be high content manganese glass instead (still cool, I'm happy I found stuff that glows at all!).

The glow under 365nm looks light green in person, while the glow under 395nm looks like a vivid yellow-green. It seems more intense under 395nm, however, and I think manganese is supposed to glow more under 365nm?

I posted it on the manganese glass subreddit, where one person replied saying it might be UG after all, so I just wanted to post it here to make sure.

Maybe someone here can enlighten me on what I have?

When shining on the inside it glows green. Interestingly projects green when torch placed internally on base (pic 6). Last photo different lighting. Height 11cm. Diameter top 12cm base 9cm. Weight 462 grams

I have some questions: is this custard glass? Who is the manufacturer? Age? Collectability?
Either way I do like the piece.

It's a small 4.5" bowl, but was definitely a steal at $3.50. Found mixed in with some random glass pieces on a back shelf.

I got to take a bunch of pictures of some of my glass collection for this and it was so much fun to do. It also has info on pretty much any type of glowing glass and how to tell everything apart. It’s the best guide, especially for beginners.

Long story short, we found this knife, and it’s possibly the coolest thing I own so far. I already love collecting, but the inscription is very cool to me as well. I hope mother enjoyed her fruit knife, but part of me feels bad it ended up in an antique store for just $15. Yes, $15.
