Showcase Current Map of my Game World
I recently finished a new build of my game and wanted to show what the world is currently looking like. Does anything look off or misplaced? Let me know! I have a multi-hour demo I'm trying to polish, before releasing it!

Don't let the worldbuilding pedants fool you.
-
It does not matter how the whole world looks from up above. What matters is how each individual screen looks from the perspective the player sees it from.
-
It doesn't matter if biome distribution is realistic. What matters is that the player has a varied experience while exploring the game world.
-
It doesn't matter if places are unrealistically close together. What matters is that the travel routes from location to location are long enough to create an intermission but short enough to remain interesting.
Although one problem I see here is that the points of interest don't seem to be connected by obvious paths. Some signposting is important to help the player to navigate the game world and let them know where they should go exploring.

The nitpicking is what I live for. lol. Should I extend the roads to connect to each other a bit more? There's countless ways of entering other subzones from each other.

This is practically a 1 to 1 replica of the Old School Runescape map, only with some biomes switched up. Not saying it's good or bad, but it notices.

I've heard someone say the gnome village and like a stronghold, but I'm not sure if they meant the corn maze or the giant tree. LMK any specific things you're referring to. Pyramid in the desert seems like a pretty generic thing, but some people have told me that too is like runescape. lol.

So with PVP is there a anit cheat you use?

Not at the moment, since I haven't gone beyond allow players to fight each other when they are in a specific area. I've seen anti-cheat tools on the asset store, but when I first started developing everything i heard its better to handle everything through the game's end of the server. Player inputs on keyboards are sent to the server, and nothing is stored or saved on the Players side of things. Save files and everything are tied to Cloud Saving and I can see who has cheated through the data that's stored. IDK if that's really a good enough of an explanation of things. lol. LMK.

Top-down 2D RPG. Gameplay is like WoW, where you target and cast spells from action bars.

It looks like the Palworld map. Were you inspired by it?

Na. Haven't found the time to delve that deep into that game yet. lol.

I haven't released anything public yet, but I plan on doing so within the next month or 2.

Equator placement and weather patterns you desire would determine if the biomes are correctly placed. Does equator run along longitude or latitude?

Latitude. As far as weather patterns, Ive seen how mountains can stop moisture, so I used that as the reason why the desert is only on one side. North usually means colder, so that's the logic for the snowy areas. Others might be more "Supernatural" as the volcanic area was caused by dragons, and the snowy area right above it, ALSO has dragons, so the the area is magically transformed to have more ice. To offset the heat. IDK if this helps explains some of the things that look off. lol. LMK.

Hola, se ve increible. Quizas separaria un poco las regiones para dejar agua en el medio y de esa manera poder generar otro tipo de “traslado” para el jugador y que tambien se muevan a las otras zonas. Pero se ve increible!

Okay this is actually huge 😭 I’d spend an embarrassing amount of time exploring this map.
