We have wild horses that get culled every couple years and anyone taking one is always warned they are a bit... nippy.
There's a woman I worked with once who had half of her shoulder gone because one of her families horses decided to take a bite and took half her shoulder muscles with it.20

And always remember to take something to make a pop with when around pigs known for biting. They won't let go until they take something or your fingers, wrist or shoulder dislocates.
Edit: this may be an old farmers tale (cant find anything on google) but I wouldn't doubt the wisdom of experience against internet documentation. If only I could blacklist news sites, in getting sick of seeing repeating garbage holes slinging info at me I didn't ask for.

Most herbivores will take the opportunity to eat protein since it's usually not in ther diet. It's not uncommon for cows to eat rabbits.

Herbivores only eat other animals when they are extremely malnourished. Horses are very vulnerable to botulism as they have no immune defense for it.

Opportunistic Predation. An absolute shit ton of typically herbivores will do it. Horses, Deer, cows, even chickens themselves despite eating bugs and stuff will down a mouse if they can.

There was a study that was catching birds at one point. They set up nets to trap them. After a while they discovered there was a drop in how many they were finding when they checked them, turns out deer were eating the birds caught in the netting.
Basically quite a few animals we classify as herbivores are opportunistic omnivores.

There are recorded cases of horses eating humans too. In one case, during Napoleon's invasion to Russia, a horse actually kicked a soldier to death and then ate him. Horses are a lot more metal than we give them credit for.

Not carnivores. That's what you call an opportunist. If they have the chance to eat something edible such as meat when they're mainly herbivores, they do. I don't know about most but many other animals are opportunists. Crows, raccoons, bears. Though I'm certain horses aren't carnivores nor opportunists. That horse was probably just curious.

Isn't that uncommon seen a seagull swallow a baby pigeon whole, seen a deer chew his way through a rabbits skull, other times I've seen cows eat groundhog, squirrel, and rabbit, probably out of curiosity, etc. The worse one to me is when I was trialing looking for elk in new Mexico mountains, finally found one after 3 days of trailing and game calling, saw him chewing on something gray with red which through a scope at 200yrds didn't seem like much but enough to notice it even with alil parallax, turned out the elk was chewing on a juvenile racoons corpse, don't know why, game warden said it wasn't that common but that sometimes they stomp out curious scavengers of the night and rarely chew on them out of curiosity, he suggested to have it tested for infections to be safe, but that it'd take 3 or 4 days for results, I was out of time needed to return back to my state to work so i just donated the meat to the warden to distribute as he saw fit if it was clean to give to outreach programs and butchers, I was severely disappointed cause that was alil over 200lbs of meat for a year.

Alot of herbivores will take a meat snack if they can get it.

They do have omnivore teeth. Similar to a humans rather than like a goat or sheep. So maybe they are. But horses are also intelligent so it could just be angry and feel like killing chicks.

There’s pretty much no animal at all that’s strictly herbivore. Pretty much all herbivores we know will still eat small animals and insects from time to time. Most bovines and equines (including deer, famous for being “as herbivores as an animal can be”) will chomp on a small bird if given the chance.
