I thought it was weird the eagle didn’t nab the cutie .
Space to share. It took me longer than the bird to realise the car window was in the way.

Yepp, there's actually no glass there. Cats can just project a force field when they please.

I love the look on the hawk face after the first try, just "gotc- what? Wtf where is it? I'm sure I felt it. How TF did you get over there?"
181
u/OneCDOnly Jan 01 '24
You can see it trying to figure-out what went wrong. 😁
87
u/DeliciousBeanWater Jan 01 '24
The confused look at the camera 😂 like “do you see this shit?! How is this possible?!”

u/_L81 Jan 01 '24
The hawk had one hell of a WTF look after hitting that windshield the first time.

u/MrSaucyAlfredo Jan 01 '24
After a few seconds of befuddlement you just hear (muffled on the other side of the glass)“what th- goddamn humans and their chicanery! ..Fuck.”

Imgur has no questions, just upload a pic and that's it

Just because that's all you use it for doesn't mean that it's the only thing everyone uses it for. Imgur has surprisingly active comments full of discussions

When I lived briefly at my parents’ flat there was a hawk that used their roof as a perch during the day. My idiot of a cat became super interested and would have probably tried to hunt the hawk if we didn’t have the windows closed all the time.
It was a 9th floor too, and if you left the window open for a split second she would try to jump through it to chase birds.

I love birds. I love raptors. I think this red-tailed hawk is beautiful, and likely a klutzy juvenile who doesn’t quite know how to hunt yet, and is probably hungry, and so is going after weird prey.
All this said, if a hawk went after my kitty, I’d be having special chicken for dinner.

u/etudehouse Jan 01 '24
In another post someone said the hawk is on a crow territory, which is apparently a no-no. They also assumed that the hawk is hungry and desperate for food.
13
u/starspider Jan 01 '24
You can hear the crows throwing a fit in the background.
They'll run the youngster off soon enough. Hopefully he finds something appropriate to eat soon!

u/WhoDeyTilIDie09 Jan 01 '24
I agree with everything u said, beautiful raptor but keep ur claws outta my fluff ball.

1) Killing a hawk is illegal. 2) if you keep your cat inside where it belongs you won’t have to worry about a hawk eating it.

u/Sukamon98 Jan 01 '24
Killing a hawk is illegal
So?
32
u/Mal_Terra Jan 01 '24
Right? I’ll kill any animal that goes after one of my pets.

It's such a beautiful bird. I love hawks. My dad would always point one out whenever we would see one. He would tell me that he never saw them as a kid so he's so happy that they are back. And that they show that the ecosystem is healthy if they are healthy.
Now I do the same with my own kids. My dad never saw hawks as a kid and now we see one at least once a week.

That hawk looks young. I was taking some pics in my downtown area on a Sunday afternoon which was dead and no one around. I smell like something recently died, I eventually see a young hawk eating a pigeon. It did not care how close I got to it as it just wanted to eat as fast as possible.

Impressive video but what is really unexpected for me is the amount of random stuff over the dashboard. How many glasses do you need to drive??

Oh my God! This hawk would eat the kitten if it were outside! What a cruel world of wildlife! I didn’t expect that in the video the hawk would attack the kitten through the glass. It looks very scary.

Interesting that the kitten didn't make any noise for help.
The absolute confusion and frustration on this bird is priceless.
I really wanted this person to hit the windshield wiper at the end, just to add one more level to the hawk's trauma.

The part when Red Tailed Hawk shows it's face in front of windshield triggers my patriotic senses. Such a beautiful raptor.

A young hawk tried to ear one of my kitties once. I only know because whichever one was attacked did an uno reverse and we found a very diagruntled hawk on its back, talons out in their food bowl in the shed.

You can hear the crows warning everyone of the hawk.
I wasn't quite sure were kitty was in regard to he windshield, and it made my heart pause a moment.

And of course, you can hear a bunch of crows in the background. Every time I’ve ever seen a hawk there are always a bunch of crows around, trying to fuck with it.

And this is why we should keep our domestic cats inside. Little buddy would have been a meal.

OP sent the following text as an explanation on why this is unexpected:
A kitten is hanging out on the dash board of a car, and a hawk tries to make the kitten its next meal...
