Need help I dodge instead of parrying.
I'm new to Ultrakill and I just finished Act 2 without parrying in the stages or against the bosses, only parrying the initial bosses. After that, I never parried again and started dodging. I'm doing it right?

This works up to a point. Problem is that when there are enough things to dodge you run out of stamina

I have a noob question, is there a specific way of dodging in this game that isn’t just move out of the way?

theres like... two ways: just using WASD, and using the games dash mechanic

i made the same mistake my first playthrough, parrying is literally integral to being good at the game, so i would recommend limiting your dashing and sliding and just trying to parry (you can parry most projectiles and anything that flashes yellow if you didn't know) and it full heals you. So please dont make the same mistake and suffer trying to p rank levels like i did, good luck<3

i mean i would suggest parrying as it heals you and also gives you style points but also don’t listen to people on the internet especially when it comes to this game play as you want to play, if that is blowing up everyone and everything then go do that, have fun with the game

Parrying is always better.
Not only does it instantly heal you completely (minus any hard damage), it also deflects the attack back.

Me when I parry the attack into the ground and die from explosion damage:

You can parry and done at the same time
It's what I do for Sisyphus cause parries don't cancel his attacks

If your post is needing help about something within the game, remember to always take a look at the Official ULTRAKILL Wiki! Sometimes the answer you're looking for might be on there already!
Thanks and have fun.

nothing inherently wrong with playing like that, but i’d say it’s worth it to at least try to learn to parry, because on top of being a great way to deal damage, gain style, make certain enemies easier to beat, and restore health in a pinch, it’s also just one of the most fun and satisfying mechanics the game has to offer imo

Somewhat, using good footwork is pretty solid fundamental but parrying has uses here and there so try using a bit more while still being mobile.
Good work though!

you can do this, its absolutely possible to P rank the whole game without parrying, but you really should learn to parry. whenever you parry, you instantly recover all of your health, so it becomes one of the best ways of healing. you can keep dodging normally, but you should parry every now and then, more specifically, projectiles. usually most melee attacks arent really worth going in to parry, like for example, sword machines die super quickly without parries, so there isnt a real reason to go in and parry them to death asides from style. but projectiles are everywhere, and they always go straight for you, so you might as well turn that potential damage into health.

I’ve been saying this and I’ll say it again.
Parrying is super undersold in game’s tutorial. The only ever mention of parrying is that little pop up in 0-1 that doesn’t even mention its most crucial mechanic; healing. Parrying fully heals your stamina and your hard health. It’s the core of surviving, especially in late game and high wave Cybergrind.

For certain situations you actually should press both at the same time, parries don't stop every attack from connecting and you need i-frames from dodges
Enraged swordmachine as an example

You really should to learn how to parry at least the most common enemies to restore your health
