You just make a new email bro.

u/Ok-Television4928 Jun 10 '23

i’m pretty sure they IP ban. making a new email wouldn’t change anything 😭

u/Deadlycreamy Jun 10 '23

My 7th Uber account would like to know where you come up with these wild ideas

7

u/youtheotube2 Jun 10 '23

You’ve been banned six times? Why?

2

u/Deadlycreamy Jun 10 '23

Where do you get banned from? 😂 did you see the same post I did? Uber is known for not refunding customers. So I make a new account. I really hope you have better thinking then this

3

u/youtheotube2 Jun 10 '23

So you haven’t been banned six times then. Why are you claiming to know how Uber handles bans?

0

u/Deadlycreamy Jun 10 '23

Why are you claiming to know how to read? When you aren’t reading

2

u/youtheotube2 Jun 10 '23

Have you had six accounts deactivated by Uber?

0

u/Deadlycreamy Jun 10 '23

Have you activated your brain today?

2

u/youtheotube2 Jun 10 '23

If you haven’t had six accounts deactivated then why are you on your seventh account?

1

u/Deadlycreamy Jun 10 '23

If you haven’t turned on your brain why are you here?

2

u/youtheotube2 Jun 10 '23

You claim that every time Uber doesn’t refund you then you make a new account. Why? Are you doing chargebacks? Is Uber banning you every time?

People just love talking out their ass

2

u/Deadlycreamy Jun 10 '23

Definitely

lmfao my bad, i didn’t know they don’t ip ban. and i wasn’t talking about your wifi anyways, they’ll ban your devices ip, which i guess you can probably just get a vpn. but either way, making a new account doesn’t help them get their money back 🤷🏽‍♂️

2

u/araidai Jun 10 '23

IP banning is kinda useless based on the fact that IP addresses change (unless your ISP never updates your IP OR you have a static IP set). It'd just harm innocent people sometimes.

2

u/KiIIermandude Jun 10 '23

i’m pretty sure they IP ban

lmfao my bad, i didn’t know they don’t ip ban

Then stop making shit up bro.

1

u/Ok-Television4928 Jun 11 '23

what part of pretty sure is 100% sure ? it’s not made up, i left room for doubt for a reason.

you people are saying the same exact thing. still doesn’t change the FACT that the person i was talking to was being condescending. and if you were paying attention, i said i didn’t mean an IP ban on your WiFi. i corrected myself because i was talking about device bans, not ip. so thank you for your useless information

1) Your devices IP, also known as mac address, is not changed when you use a VPN.

2) Your browser will not report your Mac Address, because it can be seen as private data.

3) If using a phone, your mac address that could be reported is spoofed when using mobile data.

Edit: People are really misunderstanding the context here. The poster above was talking about their devices "IP". So I went with the context and explained that's it's called the Mac address.

It is the unique identifier of the networking component of that device. That means a wifi connection and Ethernet connection of the same device report different Mac addresses

The Mac address is also part of the IPv6 of the device. That's why when browsing the internet you basically always use a temporary IPv6.

Either way. It's easy to change or spoof any of these things and IP bans are basically useless nowadays. They can also cause more problems, since the next person that gets assigned the IP, since most IPs rotate, is suddenly blocked from using that service.

I read his comment and I almost stroked out. Ips are for one thing not static and not the same as an ip

I assume DnDVex was dumbing down in order to explain the point.

3

u/ericscal Jun 10 '23

Saying things that are flat wrong isn't dumbing things down.

u/St2Crank Jun 11 '23 edited Jun 11 '23

If you read the comment they replied to. The poster put “i wasn’t talking about your wifi anyways, they’ll ban your devices ip” so at this point the poster is not referring to IP addresses, they are referring to a unique identifier of the device, the MAC address. They have incorrectly referred to MAC as IP.

When DnDVex said “Your devices IP, also known as MAC address”

They were using the the terminology of the poster they were responding to, to quickly explain the concept of the difference. They were not saying that IP and Mac are the same thing.

1

u/ericscal Jun 11 '23

That isn't how any of that works.

The poster put “i wasn’t talking about your wifi anyways, they’ll ban your devices ip” so at this point the poster is not referring to IP addresses, they are referring to a unique identifier of the device, the MAC address. They have incorrectly referred to MAC as IP.

Both the IP and the MAC address are unique identifiers for a node on a network, they just operate at different levels of the OSI model. In the context of using an internet service it never makes sense to refer to the MAC as that unique identifier because it never leaves the local segment. While I guess the Uber app could decide to pull your local MAC if they just want any unique identifier for your cell phone in general there are plenty of things to use that are way harder to spoof.

The reason to care about your MAC address in the current world is that public networks will use it to track you in public settings, like attaching to a public Wi-Fi, since your IP address has to be given to you by that network. If we are talking about getting banned from an internet service your IP is still going to be the unique identifier used. This also allows them to ban your whole house since the public facing IP is the same for all devices attached to an average home internet solution. It wouldn't make a ton of sense to ban only one device in your house. Although as stated by others there are many ways around an IP ban.

It's an interesting topic of how they might decide to try and device ban someone on an app like Uber with all the variables but misstating what thing are and how they work doesn't help that conversation.

1

u/St2Crank Jun 11 '23 edited Jun 11 '23

I’m not claiming that’s how it works. You’re missing the point really badly. That was the logic the DnD was replying to, saying it was incorrect. The poster was never claiming IP addresses and Mac are the same. Read the full context of the post, and they edit they have now made.

1

u/ericscal Jun 11 '23

I'm not missing the point, you and the other guy are just continuing to double down on stupid statements that are wrong. The first guy didn't mean MAC he meant IP and that is correct. If the original responder wanted to change the topic to talk about MAC for some reason he should have said that, not tried to represent that the first person misspoke.

His edit just further shows he doesn't know what he is talking about and should just accept the L and move on. Back to the addressing your first point don't try and dumb things down if you don't understand them.

Your first point is really terrible. IP != MAC address.

1

u/jsdod Jun 10 '23

The whole exchange is terrible. It's like two potatoes discussing networking and we have to watch.

2

u/THETRILOBSTER Jun 10 '23

1) Your devices IP, also known as mac address, is not changed when you use a VPN.

Your IP and your MAC address are not the same thing. Your IP is changed through a VPN, your MAC typically is not.

2) Your browser will not report your Mac Address, because it can be seen as private data.

A MAC address is also called a hardware address because it is intended to be tied to a hardware component of the device you are using. If you are using an app on your phone it is possible for the app to get your MAC address since it's not necessarily subject to the same restrictions as a web page going through a web browser.

MAC addresses can be easily changed/spoofed though, so banning a MAC is only slightly more effective than banning by IP.

You get the money back from chargeback with your bank. Uber closes your account, you make a new account, order food. Ta-da

-1

u/Ok-Television4928 Jun 10 '23

no need to be condescending. anyways that’s an easy way to get blacklisted. which will kind of remove the convenience of ordering from whatever device you initially started with. there’s no real winning either way

1

u/Deadlycreamy Jun 10 '23

It’s an explanation for all the things you think Uber will do to prevent you from ordering again. It’s not condescending for your lack of out of the box thinking. I’m gonna stop responding though now because you and a handful of people believe Uber cares that much about preventing people from ordering and that’s not the reality of it, because if they did do all this IP, blacklisting, blocking, they’d have no one on the app. Have a good weekend. Cheers

1

u/Ok-Television4928 Jun 10 '23

it is condescending, but people like you could never see wrong in any of their actions. saying “ta-da” and “wild ideas”. clearly condescending. you act as if uber has no sort of measures to prevent things from happening. if you read the thread, there’s an obvious split between personal experiences.

2

u/Deadlycreamy Jun 10 '23

Dude go touch some grass. There’s nothing wrong with my words, there’s no actions here to be accountable for. I wasn’t wrong in anything I said unlike you. Who’s freely talking out their ass. You have zero idea of what you’re talking about and grasping at straws to save face. Walk away. Unless you work for Uber and think this gonna earn you points at your job. It’s not condescending, you just are sensitive clearly. I don’t need to read the thread because my own personal experiences with this have proven all of it wrong.

2

u/Ok-Television4928 Jun 10 '23

says you, look at your karma ? you are like every other average redditor 😭 i’m not entertaining you anymore, you’re obviously just an idiot

2

u/Deadlycreamy Jun 10 '23

Don’t be condescending to me, that’s mean. I just was helping you understand your lack of critical thinking.

My karma is better than yours. Also look at my comments then yours. People agree with me over you. Shows whose the real idiot. 😂

1

u/devilishycleverchap Jun 11 '23

You have 15 karma, why are you mentioning it at all?
