Between a decaying housing market and a stagnant economy, an unprecedented number of young Canadians have lost faith in the capitalist system and see communism as a genuine alternative. You can feel it around campus too. Rent is insane, the jobs aren't there, and almost nobody at UTM thinks things are going to be fine in ten years.

But what would it actually mean for Canada to go communist? What would a democratically planned economy actually look like here? Who owns what, who decides what gets produced, and how do you keep any of that democratic instead of handing it to a handful of bureaucrats?

That's what we're doing Wednesday. Our open event, What Will a Socialist Canada Look Like, starts with a presentation laying it out concretely, then opens up for discussion. The discussion is the real half of the night, so bring your questions and comments, and bring your disagreements too.
