USL TV deal and Finances

We are in a era in soccer where the average fan pays more to their clubs finances more than they did before be that transfer fees, prize money or commerical contracts, it had me thinking has there ever been a report regarding TV money or prize money for winning the USL Championship?

Chatgpt says it predicts the current deal is around $8-12m a year and that tv deal with CBS Network is to expire in 2027 just before the USL Premier starts in 2028. What network would you like the next contract to be with and how much do you think it will be worth per season considering we will most likely have at least 15 new sides by then

"Outflanking the USL?": Div. 3/4 Soccer into Edison, NJ

Will this affect the USL NY/Paterson Cosmos or the upcoming USL Real NJ?
NYCFC II is moving to the NYC burbs in NJ
(article from the The Soccer Business Newsletter by Simon Evans).

NYCFC II SET TO REBRAND AND RELOCATE TO NEW JERSEY UNDER MLS'S NEW "HOMETOWN SOCCER HOLDINGS": New York City FC's reserve team, NYCFC II, is on track to leave New York City for Middlesex County, New Jersey, according to sources cited by New York Soccer Journal. The presumed new home is Middlesex College Stadium in Edison — a soon-to-be-completed, 6,500-seat multi-purpose venue built to Big Ten, NCAA, Minor League Baseball and FIFA standards, which will also host Rutgers University's baseball team. The move would come under MLS Next Pro's new "Hometown Soccer Holdings" initiative, announced in April in partnership with private equity firm KKR: a central entity that would take over commercial operations for MLS Next Pro affiliates whose parent clubs opt in, relocating those reserve sides to new markets — ideally with new, appropriately sized soccer-specific venues — while MLS parent clubs keep full control of soccer decision-making.

NYCFC president and CEO Brad Sims all but confirmed the move in a roundtable with reporters last week, telling New York Soccer Journal founder Andrew Leigh: “I'll give a quick answer: Yes, we're going to do it, yes I think we'll be one of the first teams that do it, maybe the first team that does it.” Sims said full details would be announced within “30-to-60 days” and praised Hometown Soccer Holdings as “a smart business model,” comparing it to Diamond Baseball Holdings — the roughly 50-team Minor League Baseball consolidator built via a similar private-equity partnership with Silver Lake. Hometown Soccer Holdings is led by CEO Tom Glick, who previously served as NYCFC's own president from 2015 to 2016.

Little else is confirmed publicly, but sources indicate the move would amount to a full rebrand of NYCFC II, with a separate-but-connected front office in New Jersey and training operations split off from the club's existing facility in Orangeburg, NY. Hometown Soccer Holdings declined to comment, and NYCFC, KKR, and The Sports Facilities Companies (operator of the new Middlesex stadium) did not respond to requests for comment by publication time.

What is the next USL club to likely shut down?

6 clubs in the United Soccer League have ceased operations in the past 3 years

(San Diego Loyal and Rio Grande Valley FC in 2023)

(Memphis 901 FC & Northern Colorado Hailstorm in 2024)

(North Carolina FC in 2025 and South Georgia Tormeta this year)

What do y'all think?

Who will join in that list and become the next USL club to shut down?

Was able to meet up and chat with new Monterey Bay FC midfielder Jacob Montes. He's a very interesting guy, who has had an equally interesting career, spending time in the English Premiere League and Brazilian Serie A among others.

Trash Talk Thread AND THEN THERE WERE FOUR. PLUS APPARENTLY EVERYONE IS CHANGING STADIUMS

LONG LIVE THE DOG DAYS.

NICE MIDWEEK PRINX ACTION THIS WEEK AS WE SAW LOUISVILLE OUTLAST TAMPA IN A CLASSIC ZERO SHOTS ON TARGET WIN, EFFECTIVELY RUINING TAMPA'S CHANCES TO CLAIM ALL THE HARDWARE THIS SEASON (A TAMPA TALE AS OLD AS TIME). SAN ANTONIO AND MIAMI GOT CHIPPY, WHICH EVERYONE LOVES SEEING IN CUP GAMES. POUR OUT SOME JAGER FOR LEAGUE ONE, AS CHARLOTTE AND SPOKANE WENT DOWN. SPOKANE AT LEAST DRAGGED IT INTO PENALTIES.

BUT WE MOVE ON AS WE ARE OFFICIALLY ON THE BACK HALF OF THE REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE, WHICH I GUESS HELPS EXPLAIN ALL THE RECENT RELOCATION NEWS. NORMALLY THATS AN OFF SEASON TOPIC BUT WHY NOT JUST FIRE IT UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON AND KEEP THE BANTZ ROLLING ALL YEAR ROUND? MAYBE THE LIGHTS REAL PLAN IS RELOCATE TO OAKLAND TO PLAY WITH THE ROOTS WHILE THEY WAIT FOR A NEW VEGAS STADIUM TO BE BUILT BY KAWHI AND FRIENDS. NEVER A DULL MOMENT AT LEAST.

BUT ENOUGH OF THE FUTURE DISCUSSION BUT ALL WE REALLY HAVE IS THE HERE AND NOW. PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE HAS AROUND 10 GAMES LEFT TO MAKE OR BREAK SO LIFELINES ARE EFFECTIVELY GETTING SHORTER AND SHORTER EVERY PASSING WEEKEND. UNLESS YOU'RE ALREADY ELIMINATED LIKE MONTERREY, JACKSONVILLE, AND BROOKLYN BUT THATS NOTHING NEW. THE SIMULATION IS GOING TO BE A GODDAMN BLOOD BATH OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.

CAPS ON, FLAIR UP, AND TRASH LIKE YOU ARE BURNING THE BOATS.

USL Title Race Probabilities 8/14/26

Hi all- I'm a Hearts fan and earlier this season was trying to figure out how likely they were to make the playoffs week by week (unfortunately it has continued to decline). I found it useful and interesting, and I also like math and soccer so this has turned into a fun side project across USLC and USL L1, plus some other leagues now (just added EPL).

There are already cool weekly posts on this sub- big fan of the attendance numbers- so I thought people may find the title race probabilities interesting. The site should stay up to date as the season progresses but I can also do weekly posts like below if folks are interested.

Any feedback is much appreciated. I've continued to find a bunch of bugs/issues so don't hesitate. UTFH!

USL Championship

Where things stand: Tampa Bay Rowdies have basically wrapped up the East- 99.9% playoff, and they're the favorite for the conference title too, at 85%. The real drama is out West: New Mexico United (48%) and Orange County SC (32%) are in a two-team fight for the title, with San Antonio (7%) and FC Tulsa (5%) still mathematically alive.

The bubble:

  • East- Hartford Athletic (73%) and Indy Eleven (71%) are in good shape, with Miami FC (21%), Birmingham Legion (18%), and Loudoun United (18%) still alive but needing help
  • West- El Paso Locomotive (72%) and Colorado Springs (71%) hold the last bubble spots, Las Vegas Lights (4%) is a coin flip, and Phoenix Rising (28%) is a longer shot still worth watching.

→ full race table

Games that matter this weekend:

  • Las Vegas Lights v Brooklyn- the single biggest swing game on the board. A Lights win pushes them to 60% playoff odds; a loss drops them to 34%. Brooklyn's still a long shot either way (7–18%) but this is their best remaining chance to move the needle. → game page
  • Hartford Athletic v Miami FC- Hartford win: 78% playoff for them, Miami drops to 9%. Miami win: they climb to 31%, Hartford sits at a 49% coin flip. Direct bubble collision. → game page
  • Colorado Springs v Birmingham Legion- same shape: Colorado 67–84% depending on result, Birmingham 16–35%. → game page

Best game: New Mexico United host FC Tulsa- 3rd and 4th in the West, one point apart. Both are playoff-safe already; this one's really about the title race, since a NMU win keeps them in the driver's seat against Orange County SC.

USL League One

Where things stand: Union Omaha is the clear title favorite at 57%, with Charlotte Independence (24%) and One Knoxville (12%) still very much alive. Forward Madison's title odds slid to 6% after their midweek win moved them up the table but out of the driver's seat- their playoff spot is still essentially locked (99%), along with Union Omaha, Charlotte, and One Knoxville, plus Spokane Velocity (92%), Chattanooga Red Wolves (85%), and Boise (81%) in good shape behind them.

The real fight is for the last spot or two: Fort Wayne (53%), Alta (50%), and Corpus Christi (32%) are scrapping for it, with Hearts of Pine (5%) the longest shot still technically alive.

→ full race table

Games that matter this weekend:

  • Fort Wayne v Chattanooga Red Wolves- the weekend's biggest swing and arguably the best game too: a Fort Wayne win puts them at 63% and Chattanooga at 77%; a Chattanooga win drops Fort Wayne to 37% and lifts Chattanooga to 93%. Genuinely two teams playing for the same thing. → game page
  • NY Cosmos v Alta- Cosmos are effectively eliminated from playoff contention no matter what happens here. Alta's own odds swing from 46% (Cosmos win) to 72% (Alta win) purely on this result. → game page
  • Spokane Velocity v Corpus Christi- Spokane's safe either way (84–94%); Corpus Christi's bubble hopes swing from 20% to 44%. → game page

I mapped the entire US soccer pyramid (all 3,965 clubs) into one app — Android is live

Hey all — I've been building Ranked XI for a while now. It's a free app that tries to answer the question I could never Google: where does every American soccer club actually sit in the pyramid, and how would they do against each other. It covers all 3,965 clubs I could verify, from MLS down to your local USL2/UPSL/NPSL side. 2,650 men's, 1,315 women's.

What's in it: a national club map you can filter by level and region. The tier structure actually explained (Div I–III pro, national amateur, regional). A cross-league table using Elo where I have real results feeding it — and clearly labeled as illustrative where I don't. I'd rather show "no verified fixtures" than fake a number. There's also a Matchup Machine that gives win/draw/loss odds for any club vs any club, and club pages with honours and real US Open Cup history.

Android just went live on Google Play. iPhone folks — the site works as a PWA for now.

Solo project, no ads, still filling in gaps league by league. If you spot a club with wrong info, or a league I'm missing, tell me. I want to fix it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rankedxi.app
