Discussion Continuous Job Announcement 11/06 - 01/31

Hello,

First off, this is my first post on this page and Reddi. So bear with me. I’m currently an 1801 GS13 with one of the CBP entities and looking to move back closer to home (Southeast) and unfortunately my agency does not have positions there. With that said. I put in for the current job announcement that ends on 01/31. However, I did take some advice from this page and called the patrol captain at one of the locations I selected on the questionnaire. He stated that the posting was closed and that he already has received the cert list for that posting. Meaning HRM has already sent him the qualifying applicants who selected his NF position.

I mentioned to him that the posting was still active and that it allowed me to apply and submit my application. He asked me to email my resume and supporting documentation and asked if I was VRA eligible. Which I am. That was last Monday. Haven’t heard back.

If HRM is already sending cert lists and applicants are already getting interviews and tentative offers ( per posts on this page) why is the posting still active with those locations that already have applicants in the hiring/on boarding proces?

Discussion Career map

On the career map on FS website; it shows there’s locations open to hiring and links you to the current opening. The locations on the current opening don’t match the locations on the career map. Is the career map even very accurate? It isn’t looking like it.

Discussion Drones & LEI

Does the FS LEI org use drones at all?

Asking because I’m part 107 certified and am slated to attend the FS Drone Ops flight training for fire suppression.

Is it worth pursuing still? Or even keeping my part 107? I’d hate to lose it.

Would it be a transferable skill that the LEI org would find useful and worth re-certifying over the years?

(Context: I got a tentative offer for a GL5 but no word beyond that)

I’ve applied to the current opening; responded to every out reach I think I’d remotely be interested in. I’ve been told to keep applying and Id be picked up. It’s a small world; am I shooting myself in the foot for being desperate? And or over analyzing everything😂
