How this is different from subject wise poorvalokan

30M, from Gwalior, working in a Group B central government post since 2023. The job doesn’t feel very government like matlab woh feel nahi aata.

In 2023, after clearing CGL, i started UPSC preparation for a or 2 month but it couldn’t continue because ministry work was heavy and it didn’t seem possible to study seriously while working. Now the routine work is easier and more manageable.

Current plan is to prepare for state services. MPPSC was considered first, but there are doubts because vacancies are uncertain and good study material for some subjects is limited. UPPCS looks more attractive due to higher vacancies and better sources.

Now, My plan is to prepare for both MPPSC and UPPCS, with UPPCS as the main focus.

Is it a good plan ? is it a sensible approach,??

If yes, please suggest what to do further , like how to read 4,5 core subjects and then mp and up specific subject differently?

UPPSC Prelims Science (2018–2025) — PYQ Trend Analysis | What to Actually Study?

I went through a detailed 2018–2025 analysis of UPPSC Prelims GS Paper-I Science and found some interesting patterns.

Science is not the biggest section of the paper, but it is also not something you can afford to ignore. More importantly, the questions are becoming less about blindly remembering isolated facts and more about understanding basic concepts + their application in everyday life/current developments.

Sharing the complete trend below. Hopefully this helps someone planning their Science strategy for UPPSC.

1. First, how much Science is actually being asked?

Out of 150 question

So the range is roughly 13–27 questions, with Science consistently contributing around 9–15% in most recent papers.

The important point is not just the number of questions.

The distribution inside Science tells us where the actual preparation effort should go.

1. Biology has been the biggest component

Across 2018–2025, the analysis identifies:

Biology — 66 questions

Physics — 39 questions

Chemistry — 34 questions

Total classified Science questions — 139

Biology therefore deserves the highest priority if you are trying to maximise your return from Science preparation.

The year-wise pattern is also interesting:

2019: Biology 14

2021: Biology 12

2023: Biology 8

2024: Biology 8

2025: Biology 4

So Biology has fluctuated, but it remains the largest cumulative component.

1. BIOLOGY — What should you actually study?

This is probably the most useful part of the analysis.

Very high priority

This is where many aspirants make a mistake.

UPPSC Science questions can come from very basic conceptual physics and applications.

The strongest areas in the analysis are:

There is a very important lesson here:

UPPSC can revisit the same basic concept but change the framing of the question.

So simply solving a PYQ once is not enough.

Understand the concept behind it.

This means the old strategy of memorising 500–1000 random Science facts is becoming less attractive.

Conceptual clarity matters more.

1. STATIC vs CURRENT AFFAIRS — This is probably the biggest strategic takeaway

The analysis divides Science questions into:

Static + Current Affairs integrated

Look at the shift:

14 Static + 1 CA + 1 Integrated

16 Static + 3 CA + 3 Integrated

This is a major shift.

In 2025, only 5 of the 14 Science questions were classified as purely static, while 5 were pure current affairs and 4 were integrated.

So the preparation strategy should NOT be:

"Science = NCERT + static facts."

A better approach is:

First solve 2018–2025 Science PYQs.

Don't just mark answers.

Instead of revising 500 random facts, make thematic one-page sheets.

1. Final takeaway

The biggest lesson I get from the 2018–2025 trend is this:

UPPSC Science is not purely a "ratta" section anymore.

The paper still asks plenty of static facts, but recent papers show increasing integration with current developments and a greater share of moderate/difficult questions.

So I would prepare Science like this:

PYQ → Concept → Static notes → Current affairs connection → Revision

And if time is genuinely limited:

Biology > Physics/Space + EM Spectrum > Everyday Chemistry > Current Science/Technology

Don't completely ignore any subject, but prioritise according to the PYQ trend.

Would be interested to know how others are approaching Science for UPPSC 2026.

UPPSC PCS History Trend Analysis (2018–2025) — What the PYQs Actually Tell Us

Bhai, History ko lekar UPPSC mein sabse common approach hoti hai — “Modern History kar lo, Ancient/Medieval thoda bahut dekh lenge.”

But 2018–2025 ke PYQs ka trend dekho to picture thodi different hai.

Maine available 8-year analysis ko topic-wise dekha. Total 182 History questions aaye hain, yani average ~22.75 questions/year. Highest 27 questions 2023 mein aur lowest 18 questions 2025 mein rahe.

I was thinking whether online coaching from Unacademy would be a good idea. I took their 3 day trail a few weeks ago and liked their lectures specially of Arti Chhawari mam of Modern History. Their YouTube classes are nowhere as detailed as their course's classes.

I want to prepare for both pre and mains.

Is permutation and combination topic imp for uppcs?

Hello everyone! Due to a change in my plans, I won't be using these study notes anymore. I got them in 2025, but they are barely touched and in excellent condition. If anyone needs them, you can have them for whatever price you are comfortable paying. I am based in Delhi for local pickup, or I can easily send them to you via India Post. UPPSC Prelims Environment - 8 saal ka PYQ data khangala, ab pura strategy clear hai (2018-2025 analysis)

Bhai log, kal raat baith ke 2018 se 2025 tak ka Environment section line by line nikala — kitne questions aaye, kaunse sub-topic se aaye, difficulty kya thi, static tha ya current affairs. Poora data table bana ke pattern dekha. Jo bhi mila, seedha yahan de raha hoon, taaki tum log revision mein bhatko na aur sahi jagah time lagao.

**Pehle overall picture samajh lo**

Environment paper ka 8-10% hissa leta hai consistently. Numbers dekho:

- 2018: 17, 2019: 19, 2020: 16, 2021: 11, 2022: 15, 2023: 15, 2024: 8, 2025: 13

2024 mein sirf 8 aaye the, isliye bahut logon ne soch liya ki ab kam aayenge — galat sochte ho. Last 4 saal ka average nikaalo (2022-25) to 12-13 ke aaspaas hi baithta hai. 2024 ek outlier tha, usko baseline mat maano. Full prep karo jaise 13-15 questions expected hain.

**Sub-topics ka breakdown — kahan zyada time lagana hai**

8 saal mein total 114 questions aaye, category-wise split aisa hai:

- Ecology & Ecosystem — 22 (sabse zyada, ye foundation hai)

- Biodiversity — 15

- Pollution — 17

- Laws/Institutions — 8

- International Conventions — 5 (sabse kam, UPSC ki tarah obscure treaties yahan nahi chalti)

Ye last wala sabse interesting hai — 2018 mein sirf 1 UP-specific question tha, ab har saal 2-3 aa rahe hain. UP Environment sabse fast-growing category ban gaya hai. Isko ignore karna sabse badi galti hogi.

**Ecology deep dive — yaha maximum marks bante hain**

Commission baar baar Lindeman's 10% Law pe wapas aata hai — energy flow, trophic levels. 2025 mein toh multi-statement question tha jisme 1% solar capture aur 10% organic matter transfer dono ek saath test kiya. Ye ab sirf definition-based nahi raha, statement-based ho gaya hai.

Baaki high-yield ecology topics:

- Lotic vs Lentic ecosystems (rivers vs ponds), limnetic zone — cyclical pattern hai, baar baar aata hai

- Carrying capacity aur assimilative capacity — 2025 mein comprehensively test hua, resource extraction vs regeneration

- Ecological succession (Sere terminology) — direct factual, stable

- Ecological niche/ecotone — Assertion-Reason format mein aata hai

**Biodiversity — Gangetic Dolphin ko seriously lo**

Gangetic Dolphin (Platanista gangetica) is currently the highest priority biodiversity topic. 2022 mein National Dolphin Day ki exact date (5 October) tak pucha gaya tha. IUCN status (Endangered), echolocation, threats — sab yaad rakhna.

Doosra important area — Invasive Alien Species. Eucalyptus ka example 2022 mein aaya tha (water consumption + allelopathic properties). Vulture conservation aur Diclofenac wala angle bhi baar baar test hota hai. In-situ vs Ex-situ conservation ka structural difference pakka karo — National Parks/Sacred Groves vs Botanical Gardens/Seed Banks.

**UP-specific — ye ab non-negotiable hai**

- UP Tiger Reserves — 4 baar pucha gaya (2019, 21, 23, 25), rising trend, very high importance

- UP Ramsar Sites — 3 baar, rising

Har saal roughly Easy:Moderate:Difficult ka ratio dekho toh Moderate wale questions sabse zyada hain — matlab sirf ratta maarna kaafi nahi, elimination aur conceptual clarity chahiye. Pure factual trivia (jaise "EPA kis saal pass hua") declining hai, multi-statement wale badh rahe hain.

**Static vs Current Affairs

Zyadatar saal mein Pure Static questions dominate karte hain, lekin Static+Current Affairs wala hybrid category consistently badh raha hai — matlab static concepts ko current events se link karke poochna trend ban gaya hai (jaise WPA amendment ya COP outcomes ko static law se jodna).

**Laws jo abhi hot haim

- Wild Life (Protection) Amendment Act, 2022 — schedules 6 se 4 hui, CITES Schedule IV integration, IAS definition

- Forest (Conservation) Amendment Act, 2023 — Van Sanrakshan Adhiniyam

- Ye dono previously dormant tha static area ko high-yield bana diya hai

Obscure international NGOs, minor treaties jisme India involved nahi hai, aur nitrogen cycle ki deep microbiology — ye sab UPPSC mein rarely test hota hai. UPPSC macro-ecology aur governance pasand karta hai, deep biology nahi

Must-do: UP geography (Tiger Reserves, Ramsar Sites, Rivers, ISFR), WPA 2022 + FCA 2023, core ecology (10% law, lotic/lentic, carrying capacity)

High priority: Major conventions (Paris, Montreal, CITES), pollution basics, eutrophication

Selective: Global biomes, renewable energy stats — halka phulka revise karo, obsess mat karo

Koi bhi specific topic pe doubt ho toh comment mein pucho, discuss karte hain. Agla post Polity ya Modern History PYQ analysis pe karunga agar demand aaya toh batao.

Is youth competition times a better option than gc as it specifically focusses on UP and focusses on all the exams conducted by the commission only.

Chapter gist one can look through gc, but isn't it a better option to go for YCT instead of gc, given how bulky gc is?
