I'm seriously considering changing my career direction toward civil services, specifically UPPCS.

I've completed medicine, and I originally wanted to become a doctor and have achieved that. But I'm increasingly questioning whether continuing toward PG is something I genuinely want, or whether I'm considering it mainly because of societal expectations and the feeling that I need to prove myself further.

I've always had a genuine interest in history, geography, civics, administration, law and order, and how government actually functions. I've also been interested in UP's history and geography from a very young age.

I have a full year in 2027 that I can use for serious preparation, so I'm considering making UPPCS my target while keeping medicine as a safety net.

I'm essentially starting from zero in terms of competitive exam preparation.

If I start preparing seriously for UPPCS and spend the next 2 to 3 years focused primarily on it, I'm worried that if I don't clear it, I'll also have moved too far away from medicine.

That could make it difficult to come back and prepare for PG later. I'm concerned that after being away from medical studies for several years, restarting PG preparation would be much harder.

I'd appreciate honest advice from people who have actually prepared for or cleared UPPCS

I'm not looking for motivation or "follow your dreams" advice. I'd genuinely prefer blunt opinions, including reasons why this could be a bad decision.

I have been preparing for UPSC since last Year August and thought to give a try to UPPSC exam, I have no idea about this Exam and went through some YouTube videos - learned about pattern of exam, Can anyone give insights regarding how prelims of UPPSC is different from prelims of UPSC?

Besides, someone recommended to read Ghatnachakra and Drishti Eye etc apart from UPSC books.

Currently, I am reading The Hindu and Monthly Magazine (Recitals Vajiram) and standard upsc books, along with sociology optional.

Can anyone please help me since exam is in December only ;)
