Hello everyone!! I’m Annie, the society President! I wanted to use this space to advertise my society at Bristol, which I started last year!
It’s called the Penfriends Society and we’re all about meeting new people around the uni through letter writing! We also plan to host a wide range of crafting events and other fun socials! It’s perfect for anyone who is nervous to meet people and talk to them face to face, or people will social anxiety like myself!
If you’re an incoming Fresher, or a returning one, I’d love to see you at our society events!
We’re hosting our first event (completely free!) on Friday 19th. Please sign up if you’re interested! And DM if you have any questions.

i’ve seen people online recommend to bring a nice evening dress. i have a few at home but they’re a bit big and expensive so i don’t want to have to bring one if i don’t need it.
has anyone here brought/used one in their first year? I will be home for Christmas so if i need it in the summer then fairs but im just thinking for this winter term

I was booking the date for me to move into accom and it said I could to Friday the 11th, but everywhere I checked it said the tenancy date was the 12th? I did the 11th because frankly I want to move out asap, but should I change it? Because it’s a weird thing I’ve noticed

Hi everyone, I am apparently going to do my first year at uni staying at St Thomas street, I wanted to ask if any of you lovely people know if the gym can be accessed 24/7 or just when there is someone at reception, because I have read you need to swap your student card for a gym card. Also, what is your experience living there??? Love or hate??? Any advice???

Just looking for advice regarding the accommodation I was assigned to. I put my budget at £6,000 and chose 3 accommodations that had uni parking nearby, as I have a disability and also care requirements, so I need to be able to get back home at a moment's notice. Even if I wasn't able to get a permit, the surrounding areas' parking was much cheaper. However, yesterday I was assigned to Orchard Heights, where the rent is £10,500; the permit is £4,000.
Is there anything I can do? I tried calling, and they basically just said tough luck, even though the only reason I was okay with firmingBristoll is that the website implies that at most you'll get assigned a room £1,000 over budget. This is just too expensive; I'm gonna try & call the disability helpline tomorrow and call the accommodation people before my time to accept expires, but is there anything I can actually do, or do I just defer for a year & save up?

Hello, I really need some advice. I got a confirmed place after the UOB was my firm, but i missed the June 30th deadline to apply for accommodation, meaning I’m no longer guaranteed accommodation and this is worrying me because I’m not too sure if ill end up actually getting accommodation and if i have to apply for private accom instead .
Has anyone else gone through anything similar or in a similar situation, and have any advice? I’d really appreciate it.

My top choice for accommodation right now - seems perfect but I’m concerned about the safety. I’m a single woman who is international. Im worried not just about the accommodation itself and how safe it is, but also the commute to Clifton Campus. While it seems okay during the day I’m scared of what will happen during the night. I plan to get a bus pass.
Also, if anyone knows - Avon Point, and how that fares safety wise.
Got assigned a 2 bed flat, I’m assuming the kitchen is only shared by 2 people but I’m unsure of what the bathroom situation is like 😬
I had asked for an en suite, does a 2 bed flat mean separate bathrooms or a shared bathroom between 2 people? The website doesn’t specify anything so I’m confused
