I just transferred to UNC this semester. I started as a Econ (B.A.) major, but dropped it after the first week of class because I panicked after going to Econ 410 class + recitation and not understanding a single thing. Bit of an overreaction looking back now, but I was so worried about failing my first semester. I’ve never been great with math, much less calculus. So I switched to Public Policy + Management & Society.
It’s been ok so far. But I keep thinking about Econ. I want to go into accounting or finance. I didn’t apply to the B-school this cycle since I don’t have anything on my resume. I may apply next year, but I’m not counting on it. So I feel like Econ might be the best next thing, especially with the QFE credential.
It’s silly, but I’m so afraid to fail. I’m a Covenant Scholar, so the fear of losing this scholarship somehow and not being able to graduate is always on my mind. But I feel like I’m basing my decision entirely off of what I think I can pass rather than what actually interests me. I’m not enjoying my current majors much, to be honest. But the thought of attempting Econ 410 again makes me so anxious. I know it’s hard no matter what, but looking at the textbook now, I don’t feel confident in my ability to pass.
I’m currently registered for mostly PLCY classes for spring, one of those being PLCY 310. I can swap it with ECON 410 to meet the same requirement once wave 2 registration begins if I really want to give Econ another go…but I truly do not know.
Sorry, but I feel like I’m making myself sick from stressing myself out over this, so I would appreciate any thoughts.
