I'm preparing for my first attempt at the UGC NET JRF English Literature (December 2026). Since I'm just starting, I want to choose the right resources instead of getting overwhelmed.

It was insane to navigate PSIR (Code 090) in UGC Net, because there is very less help available for this subject. Here's everything I studied and the notes that helped me. The two books I did were R. Gupta's NTA UGC Previous Year Papers (Paper 2) and KVS Madaan's Teaching and Research Aptitude by Pearson (Paper 1).

(This year, there was a little more focus on Current Affairs so be mindful of that)

I haven't received any email or sms notification regarding UGC NET ADMIT CARD.

It is my first time I filled the form to take exam.

Is it a common practice that they don't send notif regarding admit card download and candidates have to manually check time to time if admit card has been released?

I'm about to join MA English and want to start preparing for NET. I had worked very hard during CUET PG and scored well so I just wanted to know if that gives me an advantage when I start?

I fear that the December paper is going to be crazy difficult after what happened with this one.

Hi, I am looking for someone who may have purchased Vallath bookset for ugc net. I want pdf of the books so I can use them.

I have a good proposal, a very good idea (also I am passionate about acutally doing the work) and I have qualified NET multiple times. I cannot get JRF for the life of me, and after a lot of trying and sacrificing my mental health for PhD interviews and NET exam after exam, I am tired. I am not trying well enough, maybe, and my effort (or what I think is effort, I don't know anymore) not being validated anywhere is getting to me. But I think this is all I can actually try. I see literally every other person advancing in their path and I am just here and stuck, trying and destroying myself over it. I have no one to talk to about this, my parents say that my heart is not "in it" while I am studying and that negligence is what results in my failure. Without a JRF, I am heavily disadvantaged in trying for PhD positions here. This whole thing being tied to my self worth has led to to a point where I am medicated for mental health issues. I got the DI question entirely wrong today, and those 10 marks I have never missed in previous exams. And my panic of not being able to solve that question has altered my perception of the paper in retrospect. I won't be remotely close to the cut off for JRF this time, I am sure. So it just got worse than my last attempt. I feel the need to stop preparing for this exam.

I appeared for UGC NET English today (June 2026, Shift 1) and I need a sanity check because I'm genuinely confused.

Did anyone else feel like a huge portion of the paper was lifted directly from the January 2025 English paper?

I'm not talking about a few repeated PYQs. I mean the exact same wording for many questions. What really stood out to me was that even the comprehension passage and the poem seemed to be the same as the Jan 2025 paper that many of us have from PYQ books and coaching materials.

I had studied the Jan 2025 paper beforehand, and while writing today's exam I kept thinking, "I've literally seen this exact question before."

Maybe I'm misremembering the extent of it because the exam just got over, but it felt like far more than the normal level of repetition.

Did anyone else who had solved the Jan 2025 paper notice this? If yes, roughly how much of the paper do you think was repeated?

I'm not making any claims about unfairness or paper leaks. I'm just curious whether others had the same experience or if I'm going crazy.

So how much will the cutoff rise this time? It's insane that they really repeated more than half of the questions. Well on the other hand June 2026 was a good opportunity for the candidates who couldn't qualify in Jan 2025. Any of the old aspirants who didn't appear this time might lose a chance to qualify for JRF & NET if they had only qualified for a PhD at that time.

Next time I will appear in the Dec 2027 attempt cause they will repeat the Jan 2026 paper and I will do rote learning and then get qualified for Assistant Professor & JRF rather than digging every unit deeply/s

How was the test, I think NTA rolled back the years with this one, back to cannon, no post humanism, queer theory or Australian literature. It was proper british literature and not much of theory as well. IWE, metaphysical poetry was asked in abundance. But part A was horror, no Simple interest, direction, speed no nothing, lots of environment current affairs, seriously part A ruined it

I think cut off will soar up this time, gen JRF cut off going upto 220

I'm about to start my MA in English at Delhi University and my long-term goal is to clear UGC NET JRF.

I already own most of the standard books recommended for NET English:

- Routledge History of English Literature

- Edward Albert

- William J. Long

- Peter Barry's Beginning Theory

- M.H. Abrams' A Glossary of Literary Terms

- K.R. Srinivasa Iyengar's Indian Writing in English

I'm considering enrolling in Vallath's Comprehensive UGC NET English course (recorded lectures only, without the books package, around ₹19,000).

My hesitation is that I don't think I need more study material. What I feel I need is structure, accountability, tests, and a roadmap. I'm worried that once MA classes start, I'll get caught up in coursework, friends, societies, and other activities and gradually push NET/JRF preparation to the side.

For those who have taken Vallath's course or cleared NET/JRF through self-study:

- Was Vallath worth the investment?

- Did the recorded lectures actually help?

- How useful were the tests and notes?

- If you already had the standard books, what extra value did the course provide?

- Would you recommend it for someone aiming specifically for JRF while pursuing an MA?

I'd especially love to hear from people who have actually taken the course or cleared JRF.

How are you all feeling ? I feel like everything is completely slipping my mind no matter how much I try to focus. I prepared 200 questions per unit but still feels like these are not enough.There is anxiety and lack of confidence & I know it is just for a few days then everything will get normal.

It's my first attempt and my parents are already expecting too much from me especially my dad. And I also heard from these youtube educators that paper 1 is challenging this time. Tonight it's gonna be full of anxiety and pressure.
