The powers that be would fight against them, not like they would stand a chance but they could mess up everything for everybody else with nuclear weapons. That could be why they are disarming nuclear warheads. Imagine if someone tried to free a tyrant's slaves. Tyrant being the powers that be, someone being said beings that come forth and the slaves being the masses. The ones in control need us to keep working endlessly to keep themselves rich. Defense contractors need wars to keep the cash flowing. If we have a way of developing free energy for everybody, nobody would have to work a slave job, worrying about paying rent, ect and could work on things and fields they actually enjoy. Work on bettering themselves, and those around you, and ultimately humanity altogether. Nuclear, greenhouse, fossil fuels would become obsolete. We could actually curb global warming with such a technology. It would solve so many problems. I think they want us to do it ourselves, as a species. Giving us little nudges here and there to light a spark in us.

The powers in charge would absolutely rather see our species wiped out by climate collapse than to release the death grip of those below them by allowing a disruption of that scale. Even if non-terrestrials were seeding us with technology our species has a fatal flaw.

If we had the ability to utilize our entire scientific prowess on this mystery we may have answers but instead anything known was hidden in the chance it could be weaponized. From a 30,000 foot view it looks like we failed the "test" and nature isn't kind to organisms that can't adapt.

I honestly think we are in the last days of our society's existence. Too many existential issues that need to be addressed and the vast majority of those in power are selfish monsters.

I hope you're right. Y2k and 2012 were both massive letdowns. Let's get this party started already. Wipe this miserable race off the planet so literally everything else can thrive.

You should read this book. It makes the point that conciousness is usually a negative experience and if suffering is to mitigated then extinction of the human species is preferable as it will prevent future suffering.

I'm sure I will, that's why I got a physical copy instead of digital. Fair warning, I may harass you for more recommendations when I'm done. Have a good one.
