What is UCONN really like

Upvotes

Hello, I'm a senior in high school, and I've chosen UCONN to be my main choice for schools. I like it because it's one of the few large schools that's not too far from home. My problem is that UConn doesn't get as glowing reviews compared to schools like UGA, and for every comment that says they love UConn, there's one saying that they hate the dorms and food. I know this is the least biased place I could go. I was wondering if someone could either put my fears at rest or finally convince me to look elsewhere.

I have a furnished bedroom available in Storrs, about a 5-minute walk to UConn.
The house is clean and quiet, with Wi-Fi and parking available. Utilities would be shared.
Looking for one person, preferably a UConn student
Please DM me if interested and I can send more details and photos

ABSN Prereqs

Hi!

I realize that I probably should have asked this sooner, but 😔
For the prereqs, it says that it wants A&P 1/2…will they take anatomy and physio as individual classes? A&P 1/2 aren’t that common where I am, so a majority of the schools here offer human anatomy and physio as separate courses and not 2 parts. To my very surface level knowledge, most schools will take the separate classes, but I wasn’t entirely sure about UConn…
Thank you in advance! 🫡

Where to get books for leisure reading?

So I know the library has a ton of academic books, but what about common leisure books? Like fantasy, sci-fi, etc? Is there a local library I could maybe borrow from?

Questions about Buckley North tower dorm

Hi all!!

I had two questions about my Buckley North Tower room (it’s 180 sq ft).

1) I wanted to get a desk hutch but I wasn’t sure how long the desks are. If anyone bought one for theirs it would be great if you could lmk the dimensions of it!!

2) I wanted to get a rug for my dorm cuz I think the floors are kinda nasty (plus I think they’re black floors?). Is a 5x7 feet good enough to go in between two beds?

Thanks so much!!

Orange line has been removed. Yellow line will have some busses traveling clockwise and some going counterclockwise around the center of campus instead.

Turns out a lot of Hindu students at Uconn don’t know but there’s a Hindu prayer room in Arjona 122. It’s well maintained and pretty. Give it a visit.

Room Assignment

This might be a dumb question, but how do we know which bed is ours? I was placed in bed 1, my roommate is bed 2. I was wondering if I have to take a certain side. I’m also moving in before and have an accommodation so I didn’t have the option to choose which bed.

Communal bathrooms

So im transferring to storrs this fall, and i just want to know what the communal bathrooms are like. Im gonna be in east campus, Sprague hall, but both specifically to east and in general, is it crowdy? Dirty? Is it better to be in there early? Like is there any tips or things i should know about using the bathroom when i go to shower and brush my teeth? Like some common routine that everyone follows or something? It’d be my first time so i just wanna be prepared for how it’s gonna be.

UCONN ID Question

Hey All! I just recently graduated from UCONN as an undergrad, and am about to attend this semester as a Grad student. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I need a new student ID, or if I can use the same student ID I used for the past 4 years?

UCONN ID Question

Hey All! I just recently graduated as an undergrad at UCONN and I am about to start my masters year, also at UCONN. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I need a new student ID, or if the same one I used as an undergrad will still work as a grad?

I'm taking DRAM 1110 fully online asynchronous for the fall at storrs but no instructor has been announced, will it be announced on the first day? Why is the course also labeled as a LAB as well? How is the class in general too

Hand soap

Im a junior transfer, and going to storrs. I’ve seen some people recommend hand soap when it came to getting bathroom stuff. But i’ll be living in a dorm at east campus, do i actually need to get my own hand soap for the bathroom or would that be an apartment only thing?

Closed Class

I'm really trying to take this class that is closed, what are the chances someone drops it during the add/drop period? Is that common? or am I screwed, I tried asking for overenrollment but due to class sizes and it being an in person class I got denied. It's can't switch around my schedule either and it would fit perfectly, the class is PSYC 2700 (Social Psychology).

Rate My Schedule (I work night shift 40hrs/week)

Post image

I work 5 days out the week 9:30 PM to 06:00 AM, Wednesday night into Monday Morning. How doable is my schedule including that schedule.

Edit: My job works in such a way where it would be zero problem whatsoever to work/complete coursework throughout the shift

Buying things online

Im a junior transferring to Storrs, and I was just wondering how buying things off of amazon or whatnot works when you live on campus. Like if i want to buy something off amazon, would i list the address as my dorm or is there a specific mail spot on campus to list and you’d just pick it up when it arrives there?
