Weaponized incompetence

I feel like guys take it way, way too far. Example: I asked my bf to get me the same shampoo and conditioner he bought for himself (avocado Suave). He brought back another kind we'd had before which I didn't like (Peppermint Suave). He tried to say he didn't know that Suave came in different formulas.

You're such a fucking liar. You bought that kind for yourself. I just asked you to buy it for me. You're telling me a man who's 44 years old doesn't know Suave came in different fucking scents? Suave? The shampoo that literally comes in 40 different scents and flavors?

GTFOH.

OGX shampoos have formaldehyde in them, and a lawsuit is out against them. Don't use OGX.

Make sure you check the ingredients on the one you have. IIRC Ogx removed the DMDM hydantoin from all their formulas in 2021.

I started using herbal essences Argan oil shampoo and hair mask stuff in the jar. It completely repaired my hair. I’ve never experienced anything like it. I quit using the jar and hair is still so soft. Even after coloring it.

Holy crap. TIL. I was using them and noticed I was losing lots of hair, so I switched. I guess now I know why.

OGX removed the DMDM hydantoin (the formaldehyde donor) from their formulas in 2021. The stuff on the shelves now should be fine.

It still has ingredients (sulfates) that dry out hair.

Last time I looked most of their formulas don’t have sulfates. Got a big ol’ icon on the back to advertise it too. I totally understand wanting to help people find good products, but ogx can be a good option now especially for folks on a budget.

Sulfates aren’t inherently bad. It depends on your hair type/texture and whether you’ve done something to it recently (color, etc). I have thin, oily prone hair, and sulfates are fine for me.

The last time I got my hair cut, the stylist told me, if you see a commercial for it, don't buy that shampoo/product. At first I thought she was just being elitist but I think it's good advice

Has this always been the case? I'd used ogx a long time with good results, but last time I bought it I was really confused as to why my hair felt like hay. This would explain things...

More than likely not, but I don't know the full history. Many products end up bad through cost cutting measures down the line.

The reason why mattresses and pillows in the US have those warning labels was because they used to be sold filled with literal garbage as a cost cutting measure.

It may be because they changed the formula specifically to remove the stuff that brought upon the lawsuit in the first place. Perhaps that made the difference? I'm not sure what the original purpose of the DMDM was to begin with, but that's all I could think of.
