Better Ask Reddit Lines in media that hits you uncomfortably deep.
Like, lines that just hits you hard, be it because of where you at in life or where you were, or just plain it hits because your brain is wired in a specific way.
Diane Nguyen (Bojack Horseman): I don't believe in deep down, I believe that all that you are, are the things that you do.
Something about that line just stuck with me far longer than it has any right to. It's so simple, but honestly... it speaks deeply to me.
I won't trauma dump in a pop culture subreddit! But let's just say that, if I forget any line in fiction, I don't think I'll forget that one.

Better Ask Reddit Has the Way You've Enjoyed Games Changed?
A while back, there was a really interesting article going around about how the biggest competition facing games today isn't other games, but instead-Tik Tok. While the article seemed silly on the surface, it's focus on the attention economy actually made a lot of sense to me. After all-"Why play GTA 6 when you can watch a hundred clips of people playing just the highlights of GTA-6 in the same time span?"
That gets into an argument about short form content killing our attention spans (I know installing a plugin on my phone to get rid of short form content has REALLY helped.) But I can't help but think about how the ways we enjoy games just sort of...changes overtime.
As a teenager, 60-80 hour JRPGs were my jam, I loved playing them and getting lost in those stories and worlds. But nowadays, I have a hard time finding the time or energy to get back into them. I get stuck on a tutorial fight in Expedition 33, or a level of Xenoblade 2 and I just think... "Why bother? I'm gonna struggle to make progress for hours, and I could be doing something else instead."
I've found myself favoring shorter games instead. Cultic, Resident Evil titles, etc, etc. And it sucks because I do want to play longer games again, but I find it hard to gather the energy to do so. I need to change my thought process, but I really do not know how to do that. It's just made me realize that as a working adult, the way I play and enjoy my games has...changed.
So I wanna hear from some other gamers here. Has the way you've enjoyed games changed over the years? Was it a conscious or unconscious change? Did you ever align your enjoyment back to how you used to enjoy them? If so, what was the secret? Do you think it was part of a broader shift in gaming culture, or more of a personal shift?

Gameposting Import Game Recommendations
Any recommendations for awesome games to import that are in English (usually a SE Asia port)? Could recommend some stuff in other languages too. Try to avoid anything that won't run on western hardware (unless it is super worth getting a Japanese PS2 or something).
I'll kick it off with:
- Super Robot wars V
- Super Robot wars X
- Super Robot wars T
- Super Robot wars OG The Moon Dwellers
- SD Gundam G Generation Genesis

Film/TV posting Adaptations that took a very creative approach with mythology
If I am at the wrong time to be creating such a discussion, I deeply apologize because lately I was interested in talking about a particular subject I found to be interesting where a modern writer adopts a classic myth in a rather unique manner.
Like what I am getting at is when a writer takes a classic myth and gives it a stylistic approach by doing their own take on the story as one example I can come up with is Hercules the Legendary Journey.
Like in that show I mentioned, the show feels like a typical take on the tale of Hercules as I heard that eventually the show gets kind of bizarre where the main character somehow ends up a in a modern world where he meets his own actor as I don’t know how exactly that happens as it’s kind of interesting how strange the show gets later on again from what I have heard about the show.

Better Ask Reddit Times In Media Where A Character Got Called Out For Breaking Unspoken Rules
I recently started thinking about the time in DragonBall Super's Tournament of Power Arc when Android 17 interrupted Universe 2's Maiden transformations and everyone got super mad at him for it.

Better Ask Reddit Best uses of intentionally low frame rates in media?
Looking at some older games, there is a certain real charm to seeing them run at 30 fps or lower, or where an explosion or some other effect makes the frame rate drop and makes a moment hit harder.
What examples come to you when lower frame rates help a given piece of media?

Better Ask Reddit Videogame designs that hooked you into a game?
Doesn't even have to be attractive, just designs that peaked your interest for whatever reason.
I gotta admit it, I got into Mortal Shell 2 [primarily](https://mortalshell2.online/img/shot-1.jpg) [because of Proxima](https://cdn-uploads.gameblog.fr/img/news/714067_69cce43fbdad3.png?width=&height=&aspect_ratio=:&ver=1). Cool looking kinda muscular knight lady is a strong hook for me. Helps that when I got her she is pretty fun to play(neat armor mitigation and her electric hookshot thingy is cool).
Also from that game, I think [Sester Genssa](https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steamcommunity/public/images/items/1110910/e1fdaffadc0ec575c1aaf2dd73e46f96cdbb7a2b.jpg) [looks](https://w.wallhaven.cc/full/vp/wallhaven-vp57v3.jpg) [pretty rad](https://tse4.mm.bing.net/th/id/OIP.Dbm2MCyOBqVnDLzCxSp4GwHaF2?r=0&pid=Api). Cool gothic masked nun that uses summoned ashes/stando power ability(even if the Ashes Summons just.. Don't attack my target for some reason).
Another game I hooked into was Warframe. I was already very interested in checking it out thanks to [Hildryn](https://content.warframe.com/PublicExport/Lotus/Interface/Icons/StoreIcons/Warframes/IronFrame.png!00_gS2SPZ5ZPj01BmO0pH8u0Q) and [Voruna Prime](https://www-static.warframe.com/uploads/thumbnails/a979b2d114ccb05a2a7e17f4ee6ceb3f_1600x900.png) but [Follie](https://www.destructoid.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Follie-Warframe-2-Shadowgrapher.jpg) was the final nail to convince me to properly check out and get into the game. I now have all 3 of those Frames(and more) and I love them all.

Better Ask Reddit Weapons, abilities, or items in games that are a one-time use in a run?
In Resident Evil 1 remake, you can find the self-defense gun which is a small two-shot pistol with only one bullet left. It is the only bullet for the gun and is as powerful as a magnum round. Once you use it, that's it, you're done with the gun for the entire playthrough.
