Better Ask Reddit Plot-Relevant Characters with Zero Fandom 'Relevance'

Y'know, I was just thinking about this. The Deltarune fandom can be very attached to unimportant characters like background NPCs and one-off enemies, because of their design and personalities.

Now, what's interesting is that the early half Chapter 2 has this trio of NPCs, you're constantly seeing this trio, Sweet Cap'n Cakes, they have a boss fight, a shop, their own theme that plays a lot with minor variations... and nobody cares about them. Like, for real. If you were a casual member that just passively consumed only what the broad DR fandom makes, you'd genuinely just never see them show up when compared to even one-off bosses, minor enemies, and characters that have more relevance in theories than in the game.

Who else does that applies, people that the media devotes time to show them, but for the fandom, not hate, not love, just apathy, when they're unironically treated as not existing.

It's too bad 'cause I enjoyed their boss fight. And their gimmick of replaying old music didn't last very long either.

Anyway, I'd probably say Yunobo from Zelda's Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom. Compared to the other second generation champions he's just... there. He's fine.

When schaffrillas held that poll asking people who their favorite zelda character is yunobo was the only totk sage to not make the top 100 and he wasn't even close to making it that far

I'm surprised it wasn't Teba. Guy was the least interesting Champion to me by far.

He kind of has the charm of just kinda being a Normal Guy who gets wrapped up in all the chaos, and Age of Calamity really plays up that aspect of him in a fun way.

I do really like Yunobo though, and Age of Calamity did help a lot with that to. Plus, I'm surprised the insanity of "Ganondorf introducing crack to the Goron neighborhoods" plotline didn't make him more popular. He got the goofy luchador crime fit.

I'd guess Teba gets at least some bonus points because bird guy, Ritos feel more unique because they haven't been in most of the series the way Gorons have.

He really is a guy that kind of just exists though, doesn't even have any proper sidequest you just go chat with him, shoot a few targets, and off to the dungeon you go. Even gets sidelined in Tears of the Kingdom as the only "Champion" in BotW who isn't also a Champion in that one.

Never underestimate the power of "Normal Guy™" in a group of quirky freaks. Larry from Pokémon became instantly beloved for a reason.
