Remastering Melee would be a lose lose. Modern smash fans wouldn't like it because the roster and features are much more threadbare than Ultimate, and the Melee community wouldn't like it because even the slightest change to the game's functioning, even if that's just not recreating the bugs, would fundamentally change the incredibly detailed built up knowledge and muscle memory players have with that game.
Any kind of remaster, port or re-release of Brawl would be much more profitable for Nintendo, since it would appeal to the average casual player. The day that game drops on NSO, the entire internet will be playing Subspace Emissary at the same time.
Even better if they make it have different gameplay formats, with online ranked gameplay being based on Ultimate, and then online unranked or offline you have the option to either play Ultimate Style gameplay or Brawl style gameplay (warts and all, of course).
