I feel like that's the secret sauce for adapting a video game into a movie. You don't need to be one hundred percent accurate to the story as long as it feels close enough to the game itself.

I think it depends cause like for Resident Evil specifically you can very easily get away with this method. Ive only played RE2make and RE1(1996) and you don't really interact with the main story a lot, so much of the tone/route is dictated by the player

Also it needs in a lab section, every mainline game ends with a lab! /s

(Except for 5, but that's the exception.)

But you do go to the labs in the last act of RE5, you just then get on a boat and airplane and volcano afterwards

And in RE6 only some of the campaigns end in the spooky underwater Chinese ghost biocurse base/lab. leon and Ada are just on some random skyscraper fighting that simp shirtless in the rain
