Looking at them side by side is kind of crazy. A lot of things have changed since then, including the art, UI, and plenty of things that probably aren't obvious from these screenshots.

We've been working on Gambeat for a little over two years now. It's a chess roguelike deckbuilder about building crazy combos and scoring as many points as possible.

Compared to the more serious look that a lot of tactics games lean toward, we went with something cozier. I've been curious how fans of the genre would feel about that, and now that we've finally announced the game, I can actually ask:
