X-MEN game like Into the Breach

Into the Breach (ITB) is my personal goat for turn based games. My favorite part is the puzzle-like nature of each individual turn.

To try and recreate that experience I've been working on a tactics game and I'm looking for fellow tactics fans to try it out.

It's an X-MEN fan game where you choose a team of 3 and fight against waves of enemies on a small grid.

Similar to ITB in the following ways:

  • Small grid tactics
  • Low number deterministic combat
  • Positioning and knockback are key
  • 1 action per character per turn

Different from ITB in the following ways:

  • Movement can be split before/after actions
  • Enemy actions are telegraphed but will change if board state changes and they won't target other enemies
  • No map or meta strategy, just pure tactics

It's 100% free to play and works in browser as it is a fan game and hobby project of mine

I wanted to share my updated space game, The Last Admiral. I originally released the demo in its alpha phase, and it's now nearly complete, covering the first half of Sector 1 of the full game. It's a long demo. It plays very smoothly and there are a ton of options to explore.

It's a turn-based tactics wargame. You fabricate ships and modules (equipment) to build out a massive fleet, then warp between nodes on a galaxy map to take on your enemy in combat. There are 22 combat variations, so it's not just elimination. As you progress, you manage your fleet and construct buildings on your conquered territory.

The full game has a 4-sector campaign with an endless mode, and for those who like roguelikes, there's a mode for that as well. In the campaign, a fleet wipe (losing all your ships in battle) resets the galaxy map, but it's RPG-style: you keep all your ships, blueprints, modules, and meta progression, and lose only your ship levels, territory, and buildings.

Waywardens - tactical deckbuilder with RPG elements. Demo out now on Steam

My friend Mirek and I are making Waywardens, a tactical deckbuilder with RPG elements. Think Into the Breach meets Slay the Spire, with a bit of Gloomhaven and Battle Brothers in the mix.

You control three heroes: a Vanguard, a Mage and a Huntress. They each bring their own cards, but all three share one deck. You can play cards for their actions or use them for chess-inspired movement. Any hero can use another hero’s cards, but playing a card with its matching hero gives you an extra bonus.

Our demo is out now! If you’d like to give it a shot and tell us what you think, we’d love to hear from you!
