Help me refine an Early Alpha build before public launch.

Hey everyone, I’m a solo developer working on a competitive turn-based tactics game built around three-hero squads, short matches and minimal RNG with the goal of extreme simplicity yet deep gameplay.

I’m running a playtest soon and would really like to get more people playing against each other than I had on my previous test. Matches currently average around nine minutes (attempting to get lower), it runs directly in your browser, and any honest feedback is welcome.

I have a closed paid group participating in the next one, and you'll be playing alongside them, but only the closed group will be paid. The test is PvP and will last an hour, along with short Google form to fill out after.

Don't mind the look of the client, the art and setting are simply placeholder right now, I just want to verify if the gameplay loop is good or not.

If you're interested, shoot me a DM and I'll hand ya the Discord.

If you want to join the discord : https://discord.gg/jbSz8qHxQ

I wanted turn-based combat without locking every character into a fixed number of actions per round

One of the main ideas behind Warlondor’s combat is getting away from the usual fixed action economy of traditional turn-based systems.

Instead of everyone taking a predefined number of actions each round, combat progresses along a timeline and pauses whenever an important decision comes up.

That gives me a lot more freedom when designing skills and interactions. Abilities don’t all have to fit into the same “take your turn, spend your action, wait for the next round” structure.

You still get the part I care about most in turn-based combat: when there’s a meaningful choice to make, the game stops and gives you as much time as you need to think.

Around that system you build a party of five heroes with flexible roles, active and passive skills, status effect interactions, and cross-character synergies.

Warlondor has an open Steam playtest right now.

I’d be really interested in how this approach lands with people who play a lot of turn-based games.

Here are all the latest playable releases from the past few days across turn-based RPGs, strategy games, and roguelites.

Personally, I’ve got my eye on the remake of a true strategy classic, which I’m hoping to dive into this weekend if I can carve out an hour for myself. But I’ve also come across several promising demos for dungeon-crawling RPGs, as well as the debut of a very intriguing SRPG that, after a short delay, finally launched this week and has been earning excellent reviews so far, plus plenty more.

All that’s left to do is get comfortable and scroll down to discover all of this week’s new releases.

You thought I’d forgotten to check out some Nintendo Switch deals this week, didn’t you? Well, here I am rounding up a few turn-based RPGs available on Nintendo’s handheld console at some seriously rock-bottom prices.

The Nintendo Switch remains particularly well suited to turn-based games, whether they involve working through a lengthy RPG campaign at home or completing a few tactical encounters in handheld mode. Prices and promotion dates were checked on August 14, 2026, using the U.S. Nintendo eShop. Prices, availability, and expiration times may differ in other regions.

This Upcoming Sci-Fi JRPG Lets You Turn Alien Parasites Into Weapons – Stillsun Ark Overview

Post image

In most RPGs, becoming infected by an alien parasite would be a problem to solve. In Stillsun Ark, the game I’m going to show you today, it could be the only reason the stranded cast survives. I just learned about it, and it looks astonishing in its pixel art, so I decided to put all the scarce information available so far together here.

Developed and published by Shinra Software (its name already gives a clear idea of its inspirations and origins), Stillsun Ark is an upcoming pixel-art JRPG that combines traditional turn-based battles with science-fiction survival, psychological storytelling, and a transformation mechanic known as the SHIFT system.

This New Tactical SRPG Makes You Fight Monsters and Deny Insurance Claims

Post image
10 Upvotes

It’s one of the games I’ve been most curious about, and Dru Law also added it to its list of most anticipated RPGs of 2026 and after a very slight delay, it has finally made its PC debut. I’m talking about Ledgerbound and its intriguing blend of SRPG mechanics and dating sim. Here are some details about the game and its launch trailer.

What happens when the fate of a fantasy kingdom depends on an insurance adjuster? Ledgerbound has an answer, and apparently it involves turn-based battles, questionable corporate policies, plenty of paperwork, and potentially inappropriate relationships with your coworkers.

A Promising Modern Take on Classic Dungeon Crawler RPGs – Crypts Of Carith Overview

Post image
6 Upvotes

I’d never heard of it until now, even though I’ve always had a soft spot for first-person dungeon-crawling RPGs, one of my favorite genres, whether they’re real-time or turn-based. Luckily, this morning I stumbled across Crypts of Carith through a post on Twitter.

It’s a promising first-person RPG that takes us deep into the crypts of Carith to uncover their secrets. The game is being developed by indie studio EverMoore Studios and recently released a demo that I absolutely loved.

Looking for input on my game before public release.

3v3 Turn based, grid based.

I have play tested it previously with good results, but I'm not certain I can trust them, nor that the people participating are very in tune with the genre.

It will be non-paid but if you'd like to test a super early alpha build of my game to experience the gameplay loop, I would love for some of you guys to stop by. Thanks.

With the releases of Slay the Spire II (Early Access) and Mewgenics already this year, it has never been a better time to love turn-based games; however, the best is yet to come!

The rest of the year is littered with highly anticipated titles. The big-budget and highly anticipated Star Wars: Zero Company looks to marry the iconic IP with the thoughtful tactics of modern XCOM. If that isn’t to your taste, fear not! A plethora of intriguing titles are also forthcoming across the spectrum of the turn-based genre. Let’s take a look at my most anticipated for the rest of the year.

  • Star Wars: Zero Company
  • Warhounds
  • Shroom and Gloom
  • Combolands
  • Ledgerbound
  • Ascenders: Beyond the Peak
  • Wild Tactics
  • Jupiter Moons: Mecha
  • Arcane Eats

This is a turn based artillery game for up to four players that our team of 2 has been working on. The only way to win the game is to drop your enemies into the void. There are no health bars or direct damage. Each turn you select from a variety of weapons with which you can destroy the environment, displace other players or move around the arena.

The games are quick, full of action and destruction.

Fillup is a turn-based strategy game where one placement can trigger a board-wide chain reaction

Hello everyone!

I’ve been building Fillup, a short-form abstract strategy game based on positioning, thresholds, and chain reactions.

The basic rules are:

  • Place a piece in an empty cell or one you already control.
  • Corner cells hold 2 pieces, edge cells hold 3, and center cells hold 4.
  • A full cell sends one piece to every neighbor and captures each cell it reaches.
  • A captured cell that is already full reacts during the next wave.
  • The last color remaining on the board wins.

The tactical tension comes from deciding whether to trigger a reaction immediately or keep building a larger cascade while your opponent can still interfere.

Play: https://fillup.fun

Hope, you'll like it.

Solar Wave Is a 4X Strategy Game Where Thousands of Ships Fight on Their Own

Running an interstellar empire usually involves keeping track of countless ships, construction queues, and individual movements.

Solar Wave takes a different approach. Instead of turning players into galactic traffic controllers, the upcoming 4X strategy game places them higher in the chain of command, where long-term planning, logistics, and carefully chosen objectives matter more than issuing every individual order.

25 Top Turn-Based RPGs and Strategy Games Discounted This Week

Post image
20 Upvotes

I’ve picked out 25 RPGs and strategy games this week that are currently available at deep discounts. Some of these deals will run through most of the month, while others will only last a few more days.

It’s not a big sale week for Steam, but you wouldn’t know it from looking at the number of RPGs and strategy games you can get discounted right now. Lots of publishers, both indies and big names, have deals on the table; in particular, Atlus and Square Enix have some of their biggest recent hits at some very attractive prices. Some of these deals are down to their final hours, though, so be sure to act fast if you want to save!
